Story
For the past 14 years, Edgehill’s resident secret witch, Amber Blackwood, has been haunted by her parents’ deaths. The whole town knows about the tragedy, but the details remain a mystery even to Amber. From her tiny studio apartment above her shop, The Quirky Whisker, Amber can see her partially rebuilt old house out on the edge of town. Although she now has a good life, she feels stuck in the past. Amber suspects the fire that killed her parents was set deliberately by a witch from the cursed Penhallow clan, from whom no one has heard since the night her parents died.

Zoey Rivers has an unusual job. She's the Chief of Staff at a retirement home, which doesn't sound odd on its own, but when you consider it's a retirement home for witches and other paranormals, the strange factor ratchets up. And, with a facility full of partly senile but still powerful witches, things go hilariously awry fast.

But only if I can come to terms with some rather eye-opening revelations. Supernaturals are a real thing. I'm a witch. My high school sweetheart, who happens to be the Chief of Police in Grimm Cove, is my fated mate and a wolf-shifter. Ghosts exist and can be very nosy and meddlesome. Someone is murdering witches left and right.

Publisher's Summary
Every town has its secrets, but no one has a secret like hers.
Amber Blackwood, lifelong resident of Edgehill, Oregon, has earned a reputation for being a semi-reclusive odd duck. Her store, The Quirky Whisker, is full of curiosities. It has everything from extremely potent sleepy teas and ever-burning candles to kids’ toys that seem to run endlessly without the aid of batteries.
The people of Edgehill think of the Quirky Whisker as an integral part of their feline-obsessed town, but most give Amber herself a wide berth. Amber prefers it that way; it keeps her secret safe. But that secret is thrown into jeopardy when Amber’s friend Melanie is found dead, a vial of headache tonic from Amber’s store clutched in her hand.
Edgehill’s newest police chief has had it out for Amber since he arrived three years before. He can’t possibly know she’s a witch, but his suspicions about her odd store and even odder behavior have shot her to the top of his suspect list.
When the Edgehill rumor mill finds out Melanie was poisoned, it’s not only the police chief who looks at Amber differently. Determined to both find justice for her friend and to clear her own name, Amber must use her unique gifts to help track down Melanie’s real killer. A quest that threatens much more than her secret...

Pawsitively Poisonous
Amber Blackwood longtime resident of Edgehill, and owner and operator of The Quirky Whisker that sells a bit of a lot of things but it is her toys that has people perplexed, they move and do other things all seemingly without a battery. But when her friend dies with one of Amber's home remedies in her hand that is when things really heat up.
This is the first of the series of cats and witches that will worm its way into your heart, as it did mine. This is a very cute story and wonderful mystery that has lots of suspense and action despite many thinking Edgehill is a sleepy little cat nap town. The narrator does a wonderful job transporting you right into Edgehill and the story I had a good time walking through The Quirky Whisker and looking at all of those wonderful toys that I wish were real. I really love this book and this series I hope the author keeps writing more.

Amber tries to help her sick friend. Her friend dies and Amber searches for her murderer to clear her name and get justice for her friend. Amber is such a rich character she helps others and tries to stay under the radar of the police chief. Great narration and enjoyable book
This is the first book I listen of this genre, and I really like it. The story is well written, and had me wondering and thinking who was the murderer. I was making and discarding theories as the story progressed.
First time listening to Victoria Villareal, but I really loved her narration, she did a wonderful job with this story. She performed it pretty well, she has different voices for each of the characters which is so perfect, her tone and paced were really good. I will look forward more of her narrations for sure.

Amazing Mystery
Pawsitively Poisonous by Melissa Erin Jackson is book one in the A Witch of Edgehill Mystery series that I listened to on audio narrated by Victoria Villarreal.
This is the first book of Melissa’s that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last. This book kept me very intrigued until the very end. I cannot wait to listen to the next book in the series Pawsitively Cursed.
Victoria did an amazing job on the narration. She really knows how to bring a story to life.

This was such a fun mystery to listen to. I really liked the magical side to this and how she has to do it without anyone knowing what is going on. I was able to guess who the murderer was, but the way they found out was fun to listen to as it was happening. The narration in this book was done really well also. I will definitely be on the lookout for the next to come out.

Pawsitively Perfect
I loved it, it was a mystery murder with a difference. as a mystery should it keeps you guessing and throws some false clues at you to keep you changing direction and she is a witch so a win win for me. Easy to listen to as it has a light feel to it not sinister.
the detail Erin Jackson wove within the mystery, about the town and the characters really gave the whole story such visual characterisation, brought to life by the lovely narration of Victoria Villarreal. Cant wait to listen to the next one!

All types of characters in this enjoyable story.
To me this felt on the lighter side although it's not funny it's just not heavy. I enjoyed the setup and the way the characters all interact with each other. The complete cat focus of the town made me smile a lot. I like the way she hides her witch side and the things she does with her powers. The story follows along nicely and I didn't guess he culprit too far ahead of the reveal. Overall enjoyable.

Such intriguing magic
When Amber's friend is found dead, the local police chief puts her at the top of the suspect list. He's clearly always been suspicious of her though she never knew just how far back that mistrust stemmed from. Amber decides to do a bit of her own investigating and there are plenty of suspects in town.
Such intriguing magic, I would love some of Amber's toys! I really liked that the magic wasn't perfect and infallible, it seemed so much more realistic this way.
