Publisher's Summary

"Beyond being a brilliant skewering of social media and influencer culture, People Like Her is, quite simply, a damn good thriller.... With three unreliable narrators, the novel reads like Gone Girl on steroids in all the best ways.” (Bookreporter)

“Breathlessly fast, brilliantly original. Bravo, Ellery Lloyd!” (Clare Mackintosh, New York Times best-selling author of After the End)

A razor-sharp, wickedly smart suspense debut about an ambitious influencer mom whose soaring success threatens her marriage, her morals, and her family’s safety.

Followed by millions, watched by one.

To her adoring fans, Emmy Jackson, a.k.a. @the_mamabare, is the honest “Instamum” who always tells it like it is.

To her skeptical husband, a washed-up novelist who knows just how creative Emmy can be with the truth, she is a breadwinning powerhouse chillingly brilliant at monetizing the intimate details of their family life.

To one of Emmy’s dangerously obsessive followers, she’s the woman who has everything - but deserves none of it.

As Emmy’s marriage begins to crack under the strain of her growing success and her moral compass veers wildly off course, the more vulnerable she becomes to a very real danger circling ever closer to her family.

In this deeply addictive tale of psychological suspense, Ellery Lloyd raises important questions about technology, social media celebrity, and the way we live today. Probing the dark side of influencer culture and the perils of parenting online, People Like Her explores our desperate need to be seen and the lengths we’ll go to be liked by strangers. It asks what - and who - we sacrifice when we make our private lives public and ultimately lose control of who we let in....

Fresh Edgy Dark Thriller

NO SPOILERS! Whoever said this book was boring didn’t listen to it. It was packed with thrills. This book belongs on the best seller list. I listen to 100s of thrillers a year and this one was fresh! Easily one of the more memorable in the last year.

The book is witty and the characters are well developed and interesting. The narration was perfect and the story was scary and possible.

I recommend it to anyone that likes domestic or psychological thrillers.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ From a Picky Listener

Damn. I loved it, and for the first time in a while, I hated for a book to end. It is twisted, disturbing and completely addictive.

No Spoilers:

These egomaniac characters are narrated perfectly, and I have been craving a really good, multiple narrator audiobook. I have also been craving a psychological thriller without endless political statements and innuendos, so a big thanks to the author for this break from all the “stuff”.

The ending ties up loose ends in such a clever way, and by “ending”, I mean the epilogue, which was really a necessity to close this baby out.

LOVED IT

This book was sooo good. Fresh new psychological thriller with a whole new plot. I liked all of the narrators (and I’m picky). I also liked how all three points of view were relatable and likeable characters. On point book - two thumbs up

Great Book!

I finished it in two days because I had to go to bed or I would have been done in one sitting it was that good. I enjoyed the narrators.

So Much Potential But I Couldn't Finish

I tried. I was very excited about some of the reviews. I had this on my wish list forever. I was looking forward to a good psychological thriller. Urgh.

I tired re-listening to this book 8 times. I grew to despise the characters. I grew to dread picking up where I left off. Then, I grew to just not care and I am returning the book.

The characters start off likable. And then, the book becomes filler of mundane daily chores that hardly make for an enjoyable read.

I don't recommend wasting a credit on this book. Maybe wait for a daily deal.

I returned the book.

The topic of Instagram influencers is interesting, but there’s nothing interesting about this story. No plot, no dialogue, boring characters. Disappointing.

Drags until the end

An entire book of build up for the last like chapter of action, which gets boring quickly. I was listening at 2.2X speed for the second half to get through.

I. really wanted to love this but I didn't. It wasnt horrible but the characters were not developed and I never really got to know them. I did enjoy the story line but this one fell flat.

Changed my mind! I really liked it.

Good story. I did find it hard to care about Emmy, but I got past it to finish the book.
