Publisher's Summary

Read by the author.

Can the truth about Jesus be uncovered - even without a body or a crime scene? Join cold-case detective and best-selling author J. Warner Wallace as he investigates Jesus using an innovative and unique approach he employs to solve real missing person murder cases.

In Person of Interest, Wallace carefully sifts through the evidence from history alone, without relying on the New Testament. You'll understand like never before how Jesus, the most significant person in history, changed the world.

Features:

  • Join a cold-case detective as he uncovers the truth about Jesus using the same approach he employs to solve real murder cases
  • Marvel at the way Jesus changed the world as you investigate why Jesus still matters today
  • Learn how to use an innovative and unique "fuse and fallout" investigative strategy that you can also use to examine other claims of history
  • Explore and learn how to respond to common objections to Christianity

Detective J. Warner Wallace listened to a pastor talk about Jesus and wondered why anyone would think Jesus was a person of interest.

Wallace was skeptical of the Bible, but he’d investigated several no-body homicide cases in which there was no crime scene, no physical evidence, and no victim's body. Could the historical life and actions of Jesus be investigated in the same way?

In Person of Interest, Wallace describes his own personal investigative journey from atheism to Christianity as he carefully considers the evidence. Creative, compelling, and fully illustrated, Person of Interest will strengthen the faith of believers while engaging those who are skeptical and distrusting of the New Testament.

Accompanying images, reference lists, and case notes are available in the audiobook companion PDF download.

"Wallace has an uncanny ability to discover clues where no one else sees them. Now he tackles perhaps his toughest case ever: solving a deeply personal mystery involving his own religious faith." (Robert Dean, producer of NBC News Dateline)

"A creative and eye-opening work. You'll be captivated as Wallace takes you on a thrilling journey of discovery." (Lee Strobel, best-selling author of The Case for Christ)

"If you read this book, you will have to reckon with Jesus, not just as a historical person but as Lord and Savior. This is not your typical apologetics book!" (Alisa Childers, author of Another Gospel)

"Bring your doubts, bring your skepticism--but if you bring them in open-minded honesty...be prepared to render a shocking verdict." (Scott Hanson, host of NFL RedZone)

If you ignore this book, you'll regret it!

WOW! just wow. This book is an amazing read (or listen). This book goes into detail about what kind of an impact Jesus had in history and shows why He matters to us, even if you don't think he was the one who he said he was. This book has thoroughly convinced me, that there is no way you could ever prove that Jesus didn't exist, to even think it is laughable! If you want to know if Jesus is the one who He said he was, THEN READ THIS BOOK!

All I have left to say is this: Jesus is indeed history's Person Of Interest.

Great apologetics read. From a new perspective.

Great and engrossing. I've read a lot of books of this genre and it exceeded my expectations. I'm probably going to teach a Bible study class using this as the text book.

Not what I was expecting

I read this as part of a Bible study group. I thought the narration was great, but from the publicity for this book I was expecting Wallace to give us independent evidence for the historicity of Jesus. Instead, what he means by “proving the Bible without the Bible” is, the Bible has been copied in enough other mediums (other writings, paintings, etc) over the years that we can recreate it. If you’re looking for independent evidence for Jesus outside the Bible this is not the book you’re looking for.
I can boil the book down to just a few points if you want to save the credit.
1. We don’t need the Bible to know the Jesus story because we can reconstruct it from art, movies, letters and other texts that are based on the Bible. In other words, he’s looking at derivative accounts of the Bible text, not independent evidence. The problem with this as a proof of anything other than popularity is without the Bible texts to copy in the first place we’d never have these derivative works. A lot of this book is dedicated to how many different ways the Bible has been copied, but there’s no point beyond saying, Christianity has been influential for the last 2k years.
2. Wallace says there have been a lot of Christians in two thousand years that have made contributions to society and they believed in Jesus. Wallace uses this to say Christianity must be true with this “evidence.” The conclusion just doesn’t follow from the premise. You could say that a majority of influential men for two thousand years thought that women were less intelligent than men, but just because a lot of people believe it doesn’t make it true regardless if they did other good things or not.
3. Jesus arrived at a time that was ripe for a religion to take off and become big and influential. Wallace says that god picked this time because it was so ripe for a religion, but honestly throughout this whole section I thought he might be arguing that Christianity was just the lucky religion that happened to win at a time perfect for religion to spread. He could have concluded this section by saying “if not Christianity then we’d have some other” and it would have made more sense after hearing the arguments.
This was the first Wallace book I’ve read and maybe he has others that are better reasoned, unfortunately I didn’t find this book to be worth my time.

A tie that binds

This book kept me thinking all the way through it. Not only did I learn way more than I thought I would but am eager to talk about it with people who have and haven’t studied the evidence for belief that Christianity is true. What a body of evidence!

Jesus is the Messiah and LORD!

If you are one who knows there is a god, but struggles to figure out which god/religion is true, I highly recommend this book. The research and thought that was put into this by a skeptic turned believer is absolutely amazing, and will help guide you to the truth. If you are a Christian, a believer in Jesus Christ, this book will help ground your faith, provide further clarity into who Jesus was and reveal the logic behind why He came when He came. Doubters and believers alike will gain much from the research and content of this book.

Insightful, comprehensive and remarkable.

Such an insightful book for anyone looking to answer the question “Is there proof for a historical Jesus that has shaped the last 2,000 years, outside of the Bible?”

This is a book born out of years of research.

Wow i couldn't put this down. The author answered many of the questions I always wondered about Jesus and Christianity with well researched facts and a very interesting and narrative! i loved how he broke it up with a fascinating cold case murder. I truly understand so much more about Christianity and Jesus. I want to thank the author for going to this effort to satisfy himself about who Jesus is as well show the rest of us what he uncovered to help us. I really loved this book and look forward to reading cold case Christianity now!!
