Publisher's Summary

Emily and Elizabeth spent their childhood locked in a bedroom and terrorized by a mother who drank too much and disappeared for days. The identical twins were rescued by a family determined to be their saviors.

But there are some horrors love can’t erase....

Elizabeth wakes in a hospital, strapped to her bed and unable to move or speak. The last thing she remembers is finding Emily’s body in their bathroom. Days before, she was falling in love and starting college. Now, she’s surrounded by men who talk to themselves and women who pull out their eyebrows.

As she delves deeper into the mystery surrounding Emily’s death, she discovers shocking secrets and holes in her memory that force her to remember what she’s worked so hard to forget - the beatings, the blood, the special friends. Her life spins out of control at a terrifying speed as she desperately tries to unravel the psychological puzzle of her past before it’s too late.

Not a fan of the ending.....

I really dig Lucinda Berry. I really enjoyed 9/10s of the book. Felt like the ending cheapened it. Wish I could dissociate out of having listened to the end.

Pretty good

I didn’t like this book as much as I liked the perfect child but, I was able to get through it. Wish it had a better ending though.

not my favorite

I’ve actually read (and enjoy)a lot of Dr. Berry’s books. This one just bordered on silly and there’s a lot of things that don’t make sense.

Additionally, as an Audiobook, the actress (while amazing to listen to!!!) has a quite mature voice if playing a 20 year old. Just something that bothered me.

Not As Advertised

This book is supposed to be a "psychological thriller" it is not by any means. Its about a girl who is in the psychiatric hospital period end of story. Where is the mystery? Where is the thrill? Beyond disappointment! Ive liked all the other actual pysch thrillers by this author so I believed the description.

Complex Story

Although the ending was fairly predictable, the overall story was well conveyed. The content is difficult to understand and relate to but is accurately portrayed.

Narration was well done.

The storyline has been great but...

I absolutely love Lucinda Berry and her books, but for some reason, the narrator sounds like a mix of Alexa/Siri, and that is all I hear except when the narrator is performing the character voices.

Also, if you're bougie like me and enjoy immersion reading, the book and the audiobook do not match up in many places.

Otherwise, the story is fantastic! I loved all the twists and turns of the story! It's a nice quick listen/read! I still recommend this audiobook!

Loved the twist!

The narrator’s voice was so sweet and kind I just wished there had been more infliction in her voice.

If you claim you’re into thrillers, this is a must read!

📚Honest Review📚

In this unique piece of writing @lucindaberryauthor has managed to create a breathtaking story about the traumatic events a human mind can endure during childhood and how those events may lead to the most profound and difficult transitions to adulthood. Suppressed memories and fragmentation. Terms that only her makes anyone understand through the voice her so well crafter characters. This is a #mustread and I give one more reason to do it: The main characters are identical twins! Go for it! You won’t regret it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
