"Pimsleur programs provide plenty of positive reinforcement that will keep learners on track, and we found that Pimsleur gave us more proficiency and confidence in speaking the new language than any of the other language programs we reviewed." ( AudioFile magazine)

Excellent

I tried quite a few German learning material before I got to this one. I was specifically looking for a program that doesn`t require long hours of sitting by a table a search dictionaries and all the old stuff we used to do at school ( all of which was truly useless). Then I found Pimslaur, and it is everything I was looking for. I only have to listen to it, there is no boring workbooks and the rest of the useless stuff. Most importantly, it really works. I fell in love with it right after trying the firs lesson: I noticed that the words and sentenced just sticked on me without effort and not only that, but when someone asked me something in German (some simple quetion to tease me) I answered without thinking and hesitation. I was truly impressed.. I would surely recommend this learning program to anyone interested.

Level 2 Lessons 1-5

These lessons deal with going, arriving, time spent, his, her’s, your’s and a recap on some modal verbs and the past tense.

I genuinely do not believe that it is possible to do this as a stand-alone course because there are almost no explanations on grammar; you are expected to simply pick it up as you go along. I recommend something like the Paul Noble course to go alongside this.

The course does make you think for yourself rather than simply repeating what you hear. For example, the narrator will say something in a German along the lines of, “Ask your acquaintance whether she spoke a lot of German.” Then they will say in German, “Tell her, yes, you spoke a lot of German.”

Overall I like the course but it needs further explanation and the pauses should be longer to allow you to formulate your answer without hitting the pause button.
