Publisher's Summary

Are you always being hurt by someone you know? Do their actions involve verbal assault, them bragging about their control, and are they mostly taking advantage of you? If yes, then you know a narcissist.

Do you exhibit the above characters consciously or without knowing when you do them? If your answer is yes as well, then you are a narcissist!

Should you be alarmed? Yes.

Some people believe that narcissism is a mental disorder, while others believe it's a defense mechanism; however, it is a thing of great concern for the narcissist and the people they affect. This book explains how to identify a narcissist, what are the types of relationships they set up, how they define their victims, and how to detach from such relationships with them to save yourself.

The entrails of the book provides information on:

  • Identifying what makes narcissists stick with their victims and the misconceptions and fault-lines that define such associations when certain behaviors are shown
  • Knowing how they raise concern, especially if they're mostly incompassionate. Suspicions will arise as to if this is narcissism.
  • Paying attention to detail on the selection process based on if their subjects can be controlled, how dominant they are over their victims, and the steps to trapping and taking the victim after identification and selection.
  • Defining when narcissists should seek therapy, if they even go for treatment, and what makes them accept change.

Here are guidelines to properly manage the break from a narcissist and for narcissists, from their nature.

If you are a narcissist, the book offers a way out, and if you know one, this material is an escape route for them onto a better personality.

The most extreme effect of narcissism is abuse, and there are detailed accounts given by the NPD.

This book is a must-have, so buy the audiobook now!

Awakening

This was a straight to the point and very interesting informative book. Although all my life I knew my mother was mentally ill this book sheds a huge light on the diagnosis. It sheds light on the Narcissist and their Victims! I realize now that my fiancé is also a Narcissist as well this is a very very well put together book. Narrated beautifully. If you have ever been a victim of this disorder and the people who have it this book teaches you how to help yourself! How to change and adapt or rid yourself of this evil. Thank You for this book!

poor narration

I hate to be critical, but the narrator had no connection or correct feelings when reading this book. The performance was robotic and words were mispronounced. I found it very annoying. the narrator's voice is pleasant sounding, but she isn't good at story telling.

It was a good listen, loved the mix of poetry and prose. Sad, interesting, a lot of very personal information. Haven't listened to his other audiobook so can't say how it compared. One of my favorite concepts was the idea that being a grown-up required a person to either declare peace - stop fighting the battles of your childhood and move on, or declare an all-out war.

I liked the combination of prose and poetry. The author's intimate accounts of his family and friends were revealing, like paintings with words.

Helpful and inspiring!

Great book! It made me look at my life and my perspectives in a different way. Giving it 4 starts because the intended audience seems to be unmarried people in their early twenties. This is obvious through her word choices and the experiences she shares.

I'm Happy I Purchased This

So a friend recommended this book to me when I was going through a tough period and I'm so happy I bought it. I don't follow all the beliefs in the book but a lot of what is written is very mind opening and challenged my mindset. I'm very happy to have read this book and I would even go as far to say it was life changing. Go into it with an open mind and let the journey with it be your own.

Love this book

Easy read, not overly repetitive like some other self-help books, and makes some great points. Would definitely recommend the read.

Helps me feel like more of a Badass

Such a great book to help straighten some things out within you if needed or just see things a little differently. Plus written in such an understandable way, some in which you can't help but chuckle or full-out laugh. A good and no-nonsense feel to her writing and advice.

Good content but awful narration

The content is great but it takes a lot of hard work to actually listen to it.
The narration pays no attention to grammar, therefore a lot of context is lost. It creates a lot of confusing statements that need listening to a few times to actually work out what is being said.

Loved this book.

Loved this book. It made me think that everyone has a hang up somewhere about their body. Everyone! And if another person can’t love and accept you for who you are, then maybe you need to think about spending time with someone who does.

Nice audiobook.

I liked the methodical approach to each personality dysfunction - definition and symptoms, psychological analysis, how to approach and deal with including what to say/not to say. This is helpful in professional, family and friendship relationships. I wish I had listened to this when I had an oppressive superior. I could have been more proactive instead of freezing. Practical help.
