Story
Book two in the Turning Point Series. A fight for what's right becomes a fight for his life. As guilt plagues him, Matthew Elliott's world begins to spiral out of control. The harder he holds on, the more it slips through his fingers, and he's helpless to stop it. Entering into the underground cage-fighting scene, he starts out fighting for what's right. The deeper he gets, the more guilt consumes him - the more pain he takes for his penance - and he's soon fighting for more than justice. He's fighting for love. He's fighting for his life.

At seventeen, I ran. I joined the military and planned to never step foot in my home town again. Nothing could make me return to that hellhole and the pain I buried there, or so I thought—until I found myself on a plane to that very place. Almost two decades later, I’m forced home to help find a missing nine-year-old. As a member of the most elite K9 special unit in the country, it was my job, and you can’t exactly say no to the FBI. It should be easy, and I won’t have to face what I ran from. However, the case is anything but simple.

When it comes to hockey, I'm all about the game. I've worked for years to be one of the best in the league, and l've done it without splashing my orientation all over the tabloids. My hockey image is one I've carefully cultivated, and after one night with Ezra Palaszczuk, I risk it all. He's cocky, obnoxious, and has an ego bigger than Massachusetts. And okay, maybe he's the sexiest man I've ever known. We'll never get along. Not when we sleep together. Not even when my possessive streak awakens. That doesn't stop us from falling into bed together over and over again.

I spent college worrying about responsibilities and earning my teaching degree, so before graduation and moving to Atlanta with my best friend, Ross, I figure I deserve a little fun. I’ve never been with an older man, but the guy at the bar grabs my attention and doesn’t let go…for multiple rounds, all night long. The next day, when Ross introduces me to his dad, the last thing I expect is for him to be my hookup from the night before, in town from Atlanta for his son’s graduation. The best thing would be to pretend it never happened, which is easier said than done.

Publisher's Summary
Book one in the Turning Point series.
Matthew Elliot is one of LA’s best detectives. He’s been labeled the golden boy of the Fab Four: a team of four detectives who’ve closed down drug-rings all over the city. He’s smart, tough and exceptionally good at his job. He’s also a closeted gay man.
Enter Kira Takeo Franco, the new boxing coach at the gym. Matthew can’t deny his immediate attraction to the man his fellow cops know as Frankie. But in allowing himself to fall in love with a man known to his colleagues, Matthew risks outing them both.
Matt and Kira work to keep their relationship and private lives hidden from Matt’s very public life, fearing it would be detrimental to their careers. But it’s not the other cops who Matthew should be worried about finding out his deepest, darkest secret.... It’s the bad guys.

Loved Sean's Performance!
Matthew Elliot is closeted at work and at home. Unofficially the face of his fab-four narcotics team he spends his time afraid anyone will discover his deepest secret.
Kira "Frankie" Franco is the new instructor at the cop gym down the block. Matt takes one look at Kira and knows he's in trouble. Kira realizing Matt is closeted gives him the perfect out - even though Kira is out in his personal life, he has made sure to keep his private life complete private after starting work at the gym. So the two begin seeing each other in secret and their passion explodes.
But it's not all about passion. Matt finally has someone who understands every part of him - including his ambitions - and matches him at every stage. The two are quick to fall in love, and Matt is happier than he's ever been, but the case he's working on is heating up - and about to change all of their lives forever.
Told from Matt's single POV there's a bit of angst, some mystery that's woven really well throughout, action that (with Sean's performance) had me on the edge of my seat, and some pretty hot sex. But mostly, I loved getting to see the relationship between Matt and Kira deepen into a real abiding love.
I don't know if I was just in the mood for it this time, or if Sean Crisden's performance was just that great, but I enjoyed this so much more than when I read it. Sean Crisden was on point with his performance and even managed to drag a couple of tears out of me. This was a really enjoyable listen. Sean's voice was like honey in my ears and a warm blanket wrapped around me.
If you like cops, sexy boxers, some angst, a lot of romance and hot sex, and some kick ass narration - pick this up.
I cannot wait for the other books in the series to come out on audio!

Ticks all my boxes...
I'm a huge NR Walker fan and this book didn't disappoint.
The early relationship between closeted MC's Matt and Kira (both strong men) is low angst and feels right as it slowly develops, that is until Walker, who likes to put her MC's through their own personal hell, shoves the men into the open and they decide what (or rather who) is important.
Good guys, a great supportive cast of family and friends, and bad guys who get theirs in the end all make Point of No Return an excellent story to get lost in for a couple of hours.
As always, Sean Crisden does excellent narration and I hope he gives voice to the remaining books in the series. He did a great job of voicing the subtle venerability in Detective Matt Elliott’s character, something that can often be lost in alpha cop characters.

Get it you won't regret it.
First of all Shawn Crisden is a wonderful narrator, he gives life to all his characters.
The story itself was pretty good. It had everything I expected from this genre, good storyline, good plot great characters and we have some hot sex scene.
I will say that Kyra's mom is the best, and Sean does her accent so well.
There are two other stories that go along with this story and I'm so excited to read them.
Get this book you won't regret it.

So glad to see this in audio!
I was so glad to see this FINALLY come to audiobook. This was my first exposure to this wonderful author and it hooked me in right from the start!
What I love about this is the classic story line: two people who shouldn’t be attracted to one another but can’t escape it. A slow burn dance of a romance as things gradually become physical. A deepening of the relationship over time capped with a dangerous situation which eventually pushes their hands and makes them really evaluate their priorities.
This is also an amazing story about coming out and finding your true self. It has some cultural notes in it as well as some disabilities. And we also get to learn something about fighting!
NR Walker isn’t afraid to make her guys really, really work for their HEA and even after things “look” happy we still see the “real life” struggles.
The chemistry between Kira and Matt is electric and the danger had me on the edge of my seat!
I loved Sean’s narration and thought he was a perfect choice for this. He does an amazing job narrating this and handling the various accents. He is a joy to listen to and I can highly recommend this!

A great and heartwarming story, with incredible narration
This was a really great story! I love the angle it was taken from and the characters were lovable. The narration was so great! The narrator nailed all of the characters' voices. Am I glad I read this? Absolutely! I can't wait to dive into Part 2! Is this a story I would keep reading over and over again? I don't think so. The romance came together too quickly. I wished the author had taken her time to really show a slow build and include more tension. I was just about at the point in the middle of the story where I felt I needed more. Thank goodness the kidnapping thing came along. Though it was a rushed conclusion, it was so needed to add tension to the story and add another layer that kept us engaged.

Another FRESH Series!!
The reason I began with this unknown author was, quite simply, because of Sean Crisden's beautiful voice!! I'd listen to his deep, sexy impassioned voice reading to me from Oxford! Matters not!!
However, N.R. Walker did a great job of fleshing out an interesting, caring, romantic M/M story..., causing me to immediately purchase book 2 in the series. I so appreciated her leading us into the heart & soul of the MC's, way before many authors do.
The tender feelings between our two men was completely believable and understandable; it fit the story, and their evolution perfecto! Very story-driven, with sufficient intimacy to keep things real. So enjoyable!!
Looking forward to continuing this delightful series!!❤

Enjoyed...
If you love your characters a little on the alpha side, then you'll love this story. I especially enjoyed the narrators vocals/accents for each characters, sometimes when listening to audio books you can lose the plot and you just don't know who is talking, but I found it quite easy to follow the story.

Woohoo!! It's the Matt & Kira show....
This is the first NR Walker audio I've bought, due to all of her other series so far being narrated by someone I'm unfortunately not that keen on 😕. Sean did a really good job with this first Matt & Kira story, and I can't WAIT to see what he makes of Tom & Cooper [Thomas Elkin series].

Fantastic and very moving
I just wept my eyes out (despite the HEA). I’m a fan of NRW’s other books, but this one is really deeply affecting. The performance by Sean Crisden is excellent. There is some sex, but it’s not the reason for listening - the relationships are beautiful, the story exciting and involving. Most highly recommended.

Well, I really wasn’t expecting to be blown away by the wonderful writing and excellent performance of the narrator but this was a very enriching story, with some wonderful character development and an avoidance of cliché themes. Very impressed and can’t wait for the next in the series!

Terrible narration
I've read a few of N.R Walker's books and enjoyed them. But this book, from 2012 must have been one she 'learned' with.
Quite frankly I got whiplash with the jerky pace of the narrative. It was carelessly speed written, repetitive and there was no consideration of word choices. I hadn't expected such shallow fluff or such poor narration.
Sean Crisden flew through this narration as if he had somewhere else to be. I didn't feel like he connected with the text at all, and I certainly didn't connect with the narration.
Consider me disappointed!

Loved it.
Sean does a great job and is an excellent story teller. I've read many books of N.R.Walker and they are all very good.

N R Walker always astounds me
I’ve read her Australian series (Red dirt heart), her Australian in the US series (Spencer Cohen) as well as a myriad of other individual titles and series. Her themes and characters are wide ranging - and she always hits the right notes with them. This book maintains the standard. Her protagonists are engaging, their relationship drawing the reader in. The back stories are strong and Kira’s parents wonderful - could imagine meeting them in real life. I’m looking forwards to the next two books!
