Miss Marple meets Oscar Wilde in this new series of cosy mysteries set in the picturesque Cotswolds village of Bunburry.

It's party time in Bunburry! The deluxe Magnolia Inn is hosting surprise birthday celebrations for Bunburry's favourite senior citizens, Liz and Marge. But the party is not the only surprise. A glamorous widow, Francesca Fairfax Adams, is staying in the Magnolia Inn, and catches the eye of self-made man and amateur sleuth Alfie McAlister.

But Alfie's best friend, Oscar de Linnet, down from London for the party, knows Francesca of old, and has some shocking news about her. Alfie is reluctant to believe him and decides to discover the truth for himself ... Is this investigation putting himself and Oscar in terrible danger?

Nathaniel Parker, born in 1962, graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and went on to join the Royal Shakespeare Company. He is also the lead in the BBC series The Inspector Lynley Mysteries, based on the novels by Elizabeth George. Nathaniel Parker has an extensive list of audio books to his credit, ranging from the classics of Charles Dickens and Thomas Hardy to more modern writings and children's books.

Not getting much for your money

I enjoy these Bunburry mysteries, but this was more like a short story than a full-fledged book. I don't think it's right for Audible to charge a whole credit for a 3-hour reading. The characters and story lines were suddenly truncated, and a brief explanation given in an epilogue. I feel cheated. Audible should combine these stories to make a full-fledged audiobook, like they did with the first few stories. I feel cheated.

Just fun

This series is just fun: a cast of characters that play well together, solve crimes in the village,
and often get into funny situations. These are short books, easy to to spend time in Bunburry!
PS: the narrator, Nathaniel Parker, is a terrific actor, and a great voice for this series.

Nathaniel Parker is Alfie. Love these stories but Nathaniel should get lots of credit for bringing these stories alive.

Another great story in this engaging series

I look forward to each new story in the Bunberry series. Great characters, a decent murder mystery to try and solve and all topped off by Nathaniel Parker’s excellent narration. If you like MC Beaton then you may also really like this series.

Another fantastic story

I love this book series, and Nathaniel Parker is brilliant! I just preordered the next book. I have listened to over 150 books during COVID. Helena Marchmont is a wonderful author and I hope there are a lot more books to come as I want to see who Alfie lands up with. Oscar is a whimsical character who I would love to go for a pint with. The Bunburry Triangle are truly delightful. I have never been a fan of fudge but would like to try some of Liz's.

One of my favourites in the series

I really enjoyed this. Great to see Betty back, plus heaps of Oscar, Noah and the others from the library and the two ladies from Magnolia Inn.
