Precious Prayers!
What did you love best about Praying the Bible?
This book was so sweet. I really loved that Mr. Whitney is so knowledgeable about the Bible-- I'm guessing he's at least a Pastor if not a scholar, however, he stated the obvious about praying the Bible, by going to the Psalms. Which is wonderful, he showed us how to set up daily reading to pray the Psalms that was simple and to the point. After he went through the Psalm readings and examples, Whitney suggested other parts of the Bible to pray through. Great examples! Which made me consider some of my own from my favorite passages of Scripture. He took examples from the Old and New Testaments.I was really encouraged!
What did you like best about this story?
I really liked that Whitney drills down into God's Word. He's real. He tells us exactly how we can become stagnant in our prayer lives, hence, the reason for this gem of a book!
Which character – as performed by Donald S. Whitney – was your favorite?
Donald Whitney wrote and narrated this. His narration was excellent, with some personality and much tender care.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It warmed my heart!
Any additional comments?
Like me, I find myself praying the same things for the same people over and over again. And those people need prayer, but Whitney show us how to soar to new heights while communing with our Lord. This short, 2 hour book was a blessing. I listened in one sitting and will listen again and take notes :) Blessings to you Mr. Whitney!

Reviving a dead prayer life
This is a very practical guide to prayer. Many, like myself, often get bored with prayer because we pray the same things over and over again. The method of praying presented in this book allows people to pray about the same issues without saying the same words.
Every Christian should read this and try it out. I highly recommend this to pastors to revive their times of prayer in their churches.

Put salt on your prayer life
This book comes from a professor at one of my Alma Maters - the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is the writer of a book on the disciplines of the Christian life and the author of many papers on the matter.
Reminds me of the lectio+meditatio+oration method practiced still by many. This is on the other hand a down-to-earth and more accessible approach.
I pray others find this book useful for their personal and corporate prayer life.

Puts new life into prayer life
What did you like most about Praying the Bible?
What I liked most about this book was its simplicity. Taking a psalm, for example, and praying through it was something I'd heard about before but it was never explained in the way Whitney does it. Giving yourself a number of set psalms each day to look at and picking the one most relevant at the time certainly sets you up on the path of decreasing the likelihood of your prayer being boring or repetitive. Definitely worth a read for anyone struggling with prayer.
