Publisher's Summary

Father-and-son team John and Chris Eberhart have joined once again to share cutting-edge information and advice on hunting whitetail bucks in increasingly hard-hunted environments.

Their year-long program starts early in the off-season, where careful scouting, training, and planning create the foundation for a successful hunting year. Then, once the fall rolls around, the authors explain the scent control and scouting tactics that have helped them to bag trophy bucks in some of the most pressured parts of the country. They also cover hunting in the rain, suburban hunting, and various other special situations.

Precision Bowhunting

This book is just average. It seems like a paid advertisement for scent-lok. Yes scent control is very important and I do use a great deal of scent elimination product such as soap, detergent and field sprays but never ONCE was it talked about the importance of understanding thermals, swirls, topography or wind direction and speed as it pertains to eluding a whitetail. But scent-lok was said 2,872 times. If they believe in the product great but if they really wanted to help educate bow hunters they truly have to educate them on wind and the different things that impact wind. Other than that the performance was really not great however some other content was. I did take a lot out of preparation for season and sort of learning transition and staging areas. I’ve heard of the primary scrape trees but I think now I’ll have better luck seeing and finding them myself. So overall it’s about a 3/5 star book. Knock off the promotion of a scent control clothing and it would be super informative.

Great book!!

This book is a valuable resource for any whitetail hunter at the beginner or intermediate level. Hunting is craft that few have mastered to level of the authors. I’ve implemented many of the tactics found here with success before this book was available, however I haven’t found another resource with this level of detail in one easily accessible media.

One thing I wish the book mentioned was how to locate and identify bedding areas. There are other themes that aren’t covered, likely due to there being so many differences between regions. The information in Precision Bowhunting is great for any whitetail location and is a great basis for any hunter to build off of going forward. I will definitely be recommending this book to young and new hunters for years to come.
