Publisher's Summary

Special Agent Leo Reeves is new to the FBI’s LA field office. His career has been on track since the day he joined the bureau. He loves his job as a profiler, and being assigned to a new team in one of the busiest offices in the nation will be the opportunity of a lifetime…if he can put the past behind him. The face Leo shows the world is strong, focused, dependable, and capable. The long list of citations in his file only serve to prove how good he is.

If he could only forget he was sired by a monster.

Former marine staff sergeant Max Prince leads by example. Whether it means protecting men in battle, working for the US marshal service, or being the best damn field agent the FBI has ever seen, he brings a special kind of bravery to the job. His teammates depend on his ready smiles and his funny jokes and know him as the excellent agent he’s proven to be. They never see the man who buried his heart eight years ago.

The last thing he wants is to fall for the new guy.

When a serial killer suddenly starts targeting innocents, both men have trouble pinning down who they’re dealing with. With victimology all over the place, Leo can’t make sense of a profile, and Max simply wants to put the bastard away before he murders anyone else. The case is maddening, but worse, the attraction the two men find every time they look at each other is beginning to get in the way.

do not recommend unless you've read other series

*LIKELY SPOILERS BELOW**

I have seen so many recommendations for this author so when this new series came out I decided to jump in . Unfortunately I truly feel as if I have wasted my money- I am halfway in and I don't care to continue . I LOVE a good series and am very fond of authors that write series , whether it be the same MC or orbiting characters and I very much enjoy when characters from other books pop up in a new one., HOWEVER a new book should not just be an epilogue to a previous book.. let alone a previous series of books. The prologue has Cassidy as the main character and it took me until chapter 4 to figure he wasn't the main MC . AT chapter three - I literally stopped listening, read the blurb and then flipped through her other series just to figure out who was who so I could focus . your reader shouldn't have to do that Patricia .. THEN ..

The author spends time describing so many details (scenery/house/neighbor/clothing/co-worker) which makes it hard to focus on the intended couple/romance. I am more than 50% in and I know how to make ceviche but I don't really have an understanding of either MC . I know how Leo's grandmother decorated her porch (like Max's dining room) but I don't really know Leo .

Let's not forget that there's a murder/serial killer? like the author seems to do .. so yeah. That's happening . I should have stopped at the semi-homophobic and blatantly ignorant depiction of the BDSM scene at the 'party'. Decided to write it up as the author making it campy/hollywoody for plot purpose. Then in chapter 12 we get an information dump about the suspected "bad guys" via a team meeting (from another character whose beaded braids have been mentioned THREE TIMES already) which literally lays out the whole plot/premise all at once so that NOW you know what is actually happening and we can get back to what Leo & Max are eating . There's literally no need to go forward . I stopped , got the book on KU read the end and yep. That's it alright.

Leo's father is a serial killer for pete's sake and Max is all "yeah ok. I've heard of him" and that all we know too BTW also
an FBI profiler can't afford an apartment in LA? really? I know its expensive there but they don't make chump change

also .. Max's ex-wife is crazy? not crazy? they fought all the time but she calls him when she's sad? He went from active duty to stationed in CA because of an ill family member (that doesn't happen) to Marshall's service in KY to hand picked FBI agent in 10 years? yeahhhhh ok. that's how it works I have no idea why the author chose to have so much going on but frankly I no longer care. Best of luck to those that do but a person shouldn't have to read 9 books before this one to know what's going on

Another Five Star Listen!

Patricia Logan is one of my top favorite romance mystery/action/suspense writer. There’s just something about her storytelling that hooks me. It might be due to the fact that the subject matter dealt in this book is seriously dark, disturbing and heartbreaking, but somehow, she manages to balance it out by writing her characters in an endearing way. She sprinkles humor, sass, action and steam along the way.

Prince of LA is another series starter which features a law enforcement officer, this time an FBI Profiler, Leo, who joins Snow’s team. I love seeing cameos of the chacters I’ve read so much about, I consider them my friends too.

With that being said, I’d recommend going back to read the Death and Destruction series so you’ll see friends instead of random strangers, who are close to Snow’s team, when reading this book.

I love meeting Leo and lowkey jealous that he gets to be part of the gang now, and I can’t wait for more!

Nobody else can narrate this better than Michael Dean. I said what I said. Five stars and more.

Wonderful new book!!

I loved Prince of LA. Garret and and Thane have been my favorite couple since I read the first book in the Death and Destruction series but Leo and Max might be my new favorite couple. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

not for background listening

overall the story was ok but not a very good book to listen to if you're not paying full attention to it because it often switches point of view without any real warning

a fast paced action story with great romance

Max and Leo’s story is fast-paced and full of action. Their romance is a slow build up. This story is full of great characters and completely engaging. Cannot wait for the next book in this new series. Michael Dean’s narration is always so easy to listen to.

too many characters and POV's

The mystery in this book is decent, although after listening to a preview for the next book in the series it sounds like it isn’t totally solved which is a little confusing.

I think Leo and Max work well together. There was so much going on in this book that we didn’t get a lot of their relationship development. The switch from not going to do anything with each other to being in bed together was QUICK and there wasn’t much dialogue (inner or otherwise) about it.

I like Michael Dean’s performance enough but there were so many characters to keep up with, it seemed like he slipped a couple of times on the accents. His accent for Max was OK…but sometimes it was stronger than others.

The multiple points of view and the sudden switches among them with no notice of who was “talking” was confusing and VERY hard to keep up with. There are A LOT of characters in this story, and I was confused throughout most of it because I had to think about who was talking and who was being talked about.

Not sure if I will stick with the series or not.

Good but...

love this author but this story....way to much sexual references for the context of the story... I just couldn't get into it as much especially during crime scenes of horrible crimes or undercover. There was references to sexy body parts or erections every 4 sentences. Was just to much and made the book less about the investigation and crimes (which was to me a real topic of real life problems with the misunderstanding of bdsm) and more about sex, smut and lightheartedness which was jarring considering the book.

Great New Series

I really enjoyed this start to this new series. Max and Leo look like they will be another couple that's great together at work and away from work. With the narration from Michael Dean added to this story, I can't help but to look forward to more.

I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion

So grim

The crimes described are nauseatingly horrendous….and with victims that are guaranteed to be nightmare material….I couldn’t finish it.

Romantic suspense and old friends

I was in the middle of the e-book and jumped to Audible as soon as it released. Michael Dean has, as always, really brought these characters to life. I'm thrilled that Patrica has started a new FBI series and gone back to our old friends from Death and Destruction. This series brings in new additions to the FBI team but we still have all our original cast of characters plus Jarret and Thayne and their ATF team are still involved!!! And with Patricia using Michael Dean again, the voices are all very comfortingly familiar. Max Priest and Leo Reeves are the smoking hot new couple this series is being built on. This is not a cliffhanger, more of a HFN, but these two are just starting a relationship. Can't wait to watch it develop. I would highly recommend the Death and Destruction series first though so you don't need a cheat sheet to keep track of all of the characters who return in this new series,.

Captivating!

This is a thrilling story with a bit of insta-love between the two MCs, Leo Reeves and Max Prince. Michael Dean did such a fantastic job performing this suspenseful story. I understand that some of the secondary characters in this book appeared in the Death and Destruction series but you don’t need to have read them to enjoy this book. I have those in my Audible library, but I haven’t made time to listen to them yet. I am now moving them up higher on my TBR/L list! 😊

The sexy time between Leo and Max is HOT AF 🔥🔥🔥, almost to the point of it interfering with their jobs. Max is still grieving a major loss from 8 years ago and never expected to fall for the new guy on the team. Leo is the new guy and he also has secrets.

I enjoyed listening to this story so much. There is no cliffhanger, and a HFN ending, but we will be hearing more from Leo and Max in upcoming books in this series and I’m looking forward to them.

I almost forgot to say that there is a great teaser for the next book at the end of this so be sure to listen to it.

A copy of this audiobook was provided to me at my request and my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author/narrator.

Loved the book

I really enjoyed this book. The story was very interesting and the narrator was great. He was able to give the characters different voices and accents, allowing the listener to know which character was speaking. Can't wait for the next book!

5***** just Brilliant

Back in the world of law and order Patricia Logan style, where the bad guys are depraved and do unspeakable things to their victims and the good guys are hero’s, desperate to save the next victim or victims.

This time we are with the FBI. Lincoln Snow has his own team now and has recruited the best. Max Prince is a crack FBI agent and has been teamed up with the latest member of the team Leo Reeves profiler. The team need his skills to help fined a new serial killer who does unspeakable things to his victims.

Leo Reeves has a unique prospective when looking at serial killers, and he’s not clear what he sees here. With each new crime the profile changes. With a crack team and an evolving profile they are able to find the clues.

If that wasn’t enough the chemistry between Max and Leo sizzles off the pages and the sheets, and to top it off we have some old friends joining the party.

This book is fast moving and Patricia Logan at her best: crime, sex and passion and a touch of BDSM. Fall in love with these guys, this team and Walking the Streets with Patricia Logan.

Can’t wait for book 2.
