Publisher's Summary

Humanity stands at the brink of extinction.

Earth has been bombarded by forces beyond our understanding.

In the aftermath, monsters rule the Earth while humanity is forced into a few small safe zones, but not all is lost.

When the shadows fell, so too did hope. Progentitor rays birthed a new breed of humans, known as supers. Now those few are all that stands between mankind and death upon the claws and fangs of monsters.

If you liked "Power Mage" you'll love Prism!

As required by U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regulations and Audible.com requirements, I am disclosing that I was given a free review copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. I have listened to the audiobook, and I have voluntarily left an honest review. Receiving a review copy did not influence my rating nor my review.

“Prism Academy- Inferna: A Litrpg Supers Adventure” is a very enjoyable adventure story that combines monsters, super powers, an academy setting (with the requisite bully and gorgeous classmates), an AI, politics, and an MC who is more than he thought he was.

Our MC needs to bond with six women to unlock his full potential of powers (very reminiscent of Hondo Jinx’s terrific Power Mage series). While his powers do tend toward his being an OP character, he doesn’t have an overly easy time defeating enemies and finding the “right” women to bond with (creating a lifelong commitment).

It’s too bad that the audiobook cover cuts off Inferna’s high heels….there’re several fun comments about them during the story!

“Prism Academy- Inferna” is very well-written, and wonderfully narrated. It deserves my 5* rating, and especially based on the title for book 2, I’m really looking forward to the sequel!

One of the best supers litrpgs that I have read!

Where do I start...? I can't properly express how much i enjoyed this story! I have gone through it twice now. Once, with reading on Kindle. And the other time with audible. Which, I'll go ahead say the narrators nailed it! Especially, Maeve York with her various tones and accents for the women. It's hard to say but she might be up there with my two favorites, Katana Jones and Jessica Threet!!
Jonathan Waters does a tremendous job with the primary narration of the book, the MC and some of the male characters. I've noticed that guys seem to have a harder time than gals, with having the ability to alter their voice and it still sounds like in real life.

I love the plot weaving and storytelling for this book as well. I especially enjoyed the character development with struggles and changes.

Burke did a spectacular job with the women! They are unique, strong and powerful. They have a duty but still strive to grow stronger as both a person and a super!

Super excited for the next book!

loved it can't wait for the next

definitely enjoyed this take on a superheroes story. then of course in some ways it seems like it's also leaning towards one of those as fans might put it Korean invasion style stories even without the gates randomly opening everywhere. and the fact that there are other things going on. honestly in general I like the story and can't wait for the next one. but because I'm a snob like that I have to wait for it to be on audible. even though there were times where my issues with hearing made it so it was hard to hear some parts of the story. that or it's my work day that gets in the way LOL

Great narrators bad material

The narrators are so good they kept me listening to the end of the story and if I see their names on future books I know its going to be well narrated.

my 3rd attempt

I did not keep this because the author tells you what to think and repeatedly tells you the the team are equals over and over and over and over and over and over like you cant figure it out your self even though the author clearly shows the reader the MC is a good guy. then one of the female characters is lesbian because of lack of validation witch is facepalming bad nonsense and makes her the weakest character in the story her character is more unbelievable then people getting super powers from a cosmic event.

also full character sheet with definitions happen way to much at least the narrators where thoughtful enough to put them in their own chapters when they got to long so you can skip them.

Another great start to an amazing series!

David Burke writes another great start to an amazing series. The overall story is excellent and the superhero angle really works. The explanation for superheroes makes you want to be in this world. The MC is one you want to like and succeed as well as his companions. Each individual member of the MCs group is well developed with their own personalities and they all work toward the MCs goals. I look forward to book 2 in this series and everything else David writes! Audio Version: Jonathan Waters and Maeve York do a great job with their respective characters and the overall narration.

DB HAS BEEN ON A ROLL!

this author has quickly become one of my favorites in the genre. the characters in his books are always well thought out and likable. usually whenever he has an audio book come out, daniel w and Rebecca woods narrate which is always a plus, but the duet for this series impressed me a lot. both have quite a bit of range and no quality was lost at all with this pair.

Holy crap!!!

That was one of the best books I have listened to all year. I knew I would like it going in as David Burke always writes and a Weimar story, but this exceeded even my wildest expectations. Don’t think, just buy!

A Heroes hot journey begins!

At my request I received a copy of this audiobook in order to give a fair and unbiased review

Genre: LitRPG Super hero adventure with harem elements

LitRPG system: Stat based with powers and power types. Fits perfectly with both the hero theme and the augmented human aspects of the book
Power dynamics in harem: The Main Character is central and in charge, but respects and listens to the members.
Explicit/adult material: Explicit and steamy.

Summary:
Aden has long ago given up his dreams of becoming one of the supers. Dreams like that don't last well in the harsh life of the slums.
But one day a super comes to the slums and witness and saves him from a fight he couldn't win. He is invited to take the test to join Prism Academy. The school for super heroes.

Narrators
Voice diversity: Each character has distinct voices and conversation is always easy to follow.
Pacing and intonation: Excellently done. Very immersive, suddenly the book was over.
Sex scenes: Very well done. As immersive as the rest of the story.
Overall: 4.5 / 5 stars.

The book’s strengths.
- The characters have depth and are interesting.
- I find the politics and power plays of the society interesting.
- The action scenes are plentiful but never gets boring or repetitive.
- The premise for how you gain the majority of your superpowers and its consequences creates some hot situations
- Great narration

The book’s weaknesses.
- The stat explanation can be a bit repetitive. It is only brought up at relevant times, but personally I would prefer only being informed of the chances rather than also have the full overview reiterated

Overall: 4.5/5 stars
A great Supers adventure with a great premise and with an added bonus of hot explicit harem elements.
I was at the edge of my seat all the way through and can't wait for the next book in the series to arrive.

Such an awesome story that catches you

If you like this type of story then you will love this one. It has litrpg, supers, post apocalyptic dystopian world, and harem. After I started listening I just couldn't stop and listened right until the end. The narrators are great and you can just feel yourself wanting to know what happens next. 100% recommended!

Great concept on the litrpg genre

Had me hooked from the 1st fight scene and couldn't stop listening, I was pleasantly surprised at the humor throughout the story, it's like an orgin audio version of the TV show The boys, without the compound V. Great narration, some sexual nature scenes but if that's not your thing you can still skip without causing you to miss too much of any major plot.

Looking forward to the next 1.

OMG

there is very few books I rate and that is so I can keep it to the books that really showed an impact on me and this book hit a lot of the markers for what makes a epic story.
I'd give it a 6 stars for story but sadly I can't

Another great series by David Burke

I'm big fan of David Burkes Four Laws books and wasn't disappointed by the introduction to his new Prism Academy series

Like Four Laws, the MC finds his world turned upside down after meeting a certain individuals and is thrust into a world they thought was but a fantasy.

After growing up in the slums, the MC gambles on his ability to become a super which for males only succeeds 1/1000 with failure leading to death for an individual. Once he awakens to the world of supers, he has to navigate to intricacies which he was not aware of growing up, With the internal politics of how the boards believes he should be utilised, underground organisations looking to exploit him, all whilst the world is on the brink from the threats of the shadow.

Another great performance from Jonathan Waters and Maeve York, the duo who narrated The Wolf King's Lair and Otherworld Academy and are quickly becoming on of my favorite narration pair.

Pretty good but

if you like super powers and a whole lot of political stuff then it's good. the first few hours of book I struggled through due to the over doing of poor to rich inner monologue. some stuff made no sense to me but can kinda be explained later on although it's never really out right said it's the reason. overall if you can get through the first 4 hours or so it's pretty damn good and well written. narration is great 👍
