Not nearly as good as the first book in the series.
The storyline was ok, but I didn't like the performance at all! His voice was weak and shaky at times. I didn't care for the different character voices either. I don't know if I'm going to purchase another book.

decent whodunit but there are better ones to read
Do I enjoy detective/whodunit novels? Yes. Do I enjoy a series that features a great detective? Yes. Did I enjoy this book? Yes. But. The book is light on character development and frankly, light in general. Patterson is known for his "NYT top 20" writing style which pleases many precisely because it is not overly challenging. However, this novel lacked Patterson's usual deft touches, and I can only assume it is because Patterson co-wrote it. This is a nice distraction from heavier reads, if that is what you are seeking.

Good story, Bad narrating
I liked the story a lot. This is a great series. However, Scott Shepherd was very hard to listen to. I listened to the first "Private" book and that was well read. I considered returning this book because it was hard to listen to. All in all, if you get past the narrating it was a good book.

Private is worth a listen
If you could sum up Private: #1 Suspect in three words, what would they be?
Good story with a few problems.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I was wondering what in the heck happened to Morgan's girlfriend. There were things mentioned that happened before Morgan and she reunited, and it was left hanging. Maybe it will be addressed in a later book.
What about Scott Shepherd’s performance did you like?
He does a good job varying the voices.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No.
Any additional comments?
I'll keep listening to the Morgan books, but I'm a little displeased that the Private series seems to be all over the place.

Easy 'reading' ! Good suspence !
What other book might you compare Private: #1 Suspect to and why?
I would like to compare the style to Perry O'Shaunessy books.
What about Scott Shepherd’s performance did you like?
Scott gives a good performance, easy to listen.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
I do not think it is material for a film.
