Loved this book!

First, the narration and story telling were top-notch. I was drawn in right from the start. Nick and Maggie are people thrown together by coincidence, but they must rely on each other to survive the dangers of the underworld. In the Canadian backdrop, the story unfolds as their mutual distrust grows into something else. This was a great listen and I will definitely seek out other books from this gifted story teller.

True Enemies to Lovers Story- Suspenseful!

I received an ALC for my honest review.

Whew! I absolutely enjoyed this romantic suspense audiobook. Jason Clarke and Savannah Peachwood narrate this duel style novel, written by S.M.West. I've listened to Savannah previously, but only to Jason in multi-cast performances. This was my first full length novel of his narration. Excellent work! His voice is incredibly versatile. At one point he was voicing 5 characters and they sounded very different. His female voice is also very good.

This novel had my heart pounding non stop for about the first 13 chapters! It is truly suspenseful and begins with a BANG!

Nick is involved in criminal activity, involving murder and drugs and he wants out. Maggie was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Deep distrust between them, and he kidnaps her to use her as a pawn. This is a true enemies to lovers trope, because there is no playful banter- Maggie HATES Nick.

As they are on the run, they begin to somewhat trust each other. There is betrayal and lies, secrets from traumatic pasts, and they have to come to come to the realization that they actually love and need each other.

Page turner. Couldn't put it down. 4.5 Stars/3 Spicy Peppers

Action Packed

I liked this book. I like Maggie's feistiness and Nick's dark/dangerous appeal. This story was fast paced fun and so swoony when it came to Nick. SM West's romance suspense stories are so good, full of action packed gun wielding sexy men that will steal your heart. The narrators bring these characters to life like no other can.

Fast Paced & Action Packed!

Nick and Maggie’s enemies to lovers story was intense and emotionally charged. Their unique first meeting started them out on the wrong foot and it snowballed from there. It was entertaining watching them navigate the danger closing in on them while juggling their complicated pasts and their undeniable chemistry.

A successful collaboration between S.M. West, Savannah Peachwood, and Jason Clarke. Savannah and Jason’s incredible voices brought S.M. West’s dynamic cast of characters and unpredictable storyline to life.

The audio performances enhance the story

In the last month, I've listened to two drastically different stories by S.M. West—a new author for me—and I had to check Goodreads to see if it was the same S. M West. I loved both the stories and the choice in narrators. Jason Clarke and Savannah Peachwood are two of my absolute favorite narrators and they did an excellent job with the Audible version of Prophet. I would definitely recommend listening to this story over reading it.

I often avoid stories with the protagonist involved in organized crime because it's tough to resolve how one person can both disregard human life in some cases yet claim to revere it in others. That being said, I'm not opposed to reading about offing bad guys or non-violent crime. S.M. West did a good job keeping Nick's more offensive actions in the past and providing an explanation of how he got to be where he is now. I would recommend this audiobook to romantic suspense listeners and to Jason Clarke/Savannah Peachwood fans.

Lots of twist and quite the trip

Prophet is on the run to save himself, until he can sort out why someone wants him dead, he has to drop further off the radar than he already is. But unfortunately there is an added complication in the form of Maggie. Friend of a friend and the victim of unfortunate timing, she ends up under his protection however she would call it being his prisoner... po-tay-to, po-tah-to...

The audiobook was performed by Jason Clarke and Savannah Peachwood. I was on the edge of my seat through all of this. Jason's deep tones were perfect as Prophet with his dark, selfish exterior. The softness he brings to the character's back story made me feel deeply for Prophet. Savannah is a delight to listen to and she had a great balance of scared/traumatized mixed in with frustrated/hit-someone-with-a-rock survival instincts.

I requested and was provided a copy of the audiobook. These are my honest opinions.

Action packed, suspenseful and amazing!

"Prophet" is an action-packed, suspenseful, and plot twists that pulled me in and I could not stop listening to this story. Nick and Maggie's story starts this series off with a bang and I loved it.

Nick Prophet does things for a reason and wants to help those who can't help themselves. But when he finds himself on the other side and has an accidental hostage, a fiery and independent woman by the name of Maggie.

I loved the banter and chemistry between Nick and Maggie. Both are strong-willed, smart and independent so they were not afraid to push each other's buttons and stand up to each other. Nick took a job helping the bad guys to make amends for all that his now sick sister did to help raise him. It's not something he took lightly, and he carried that burden for a long time. Maggie was so great and an instant favorite for me. She's not afraid to speak her mind and go for what she wants. These two were thrown together in such a unique way and I loved all the plot twists that were thrown in.

Jason Clarke and Savannah Peachwood were so great as Nick and Maggie. Jason brought all of Nick's gruffy, alpha-ness to life including the vulnerability that he has. I'm always happy to listen to Savannah because her portrayal of every character is spot on.

Wow, this was fantastic

I really enjoyed this book. From the very beginning it is non stop action. With this couple there is no easy route. They are absolutely perfect for each other. Savannah and Jason give a great performance.

Action-Packed and such a fun read!

Nick ‘Prophet’ is involved in some dangerous, criminal activities in order to provide for his sisters. When a deal goes wrong and he gets framed, he must race against time to find out who is behind it to clear his name and protect himself. Meanwhile, Maggie shows up unexpectedly. Is she innocent or is she a foe and working for those who framed him?

Prophet is the first book in the Scarred Hearts series. Each book can be read as a standalone.

This was such a fun read. I mean, it def had me on edge, and was action-packed. But, I enjoyed the ride, and, the ending was soo worth it! I especially loved the dislike-to-love aspects of their relationship! And I loved them getting vulnerable with each other. They both had difficult pasts, and were able to come together, solve the mystery of the story and also build their relationship! I def enjoyed this book!

Narrated by Jason Clarke and Savannah Peachwood. I throughly enjoyed the narration. Both narrators did an excellent job with the characterisations, and I was immersed in the story throughout.

Nick & Maggie

SM West is one of my favorite romantic suspense authors. I know when I pick up an audio of hers, I am in for a wild ride. And Prophet is no exception. Nick Prophet does work for some undesirable people and finds himself the pawn of one of those he does jobs for. Now he's a target, going to his sister's apartment to regroup and decide what the next move is. Maggie being there is not what he expected. Leaving, she gives him the chance to stay overnight with the understanding he would be gone in the morning, but upon her return, things go really bad. Maggie and Nick are now on the run, searching for the next safe place until things calm down. Excitement galore, these two are chased, shot at, freezing, starving, you name it, the danger is real. West has our hearts pounding and pulling for this enemies to lovers couple as they figure out what to do next. The twists and turns are truly surprising and it's the best kind of listen!

Plus we get to hear it all come to life with Jason Clarke and Savannah Peachwood! These two are phenomenal together. Clarke gives Nick that edginess, a little dark, sensual and dangerous. Peachwood gives Maggie a little innocence, and a heart that wants to trust but isn't quite sure. These two made the listen so much fun, I couldn't stop til the very end!

Excellent narration, entertaining story

In the last month, I've listened to two drastically different stories by S.M. West—a new author for me—and I had to check Goodreads to see if it was the same S. M West. I loved both the stories and the choice in narrators. I feel guilty that I let this one slip so far down my to-listen pile. It got lost in the shuffle when I added too many to my library at the same time, so when I finally opened it up and saw Jason Clarke and Savannah Peachwood as the narrators it was a fantastic surprise. They're two of my absolute favorite narrators and they did an excellent job with the Audible version of Prophet. I would definitely recommend listening to this story over reading it.

Exciting!

With a storyline that is gripping and well fleshed out characters, Prophet held my attention and provided a listen that was compelling and engaging. Jason Clarke is a fabulous narrator, one whose richness of voice immediately draws me into the narrative. He modulates his voice well, creating atmosphere that draws pictures in your mind's eye, whole allowing you to be pulled along with the story. Savannah Peachwood has a lovely voice, though at times, she tended to use volume for emphasis in a manner that threw my focus. Prophet has been a pleasure to listen to 💖💖💖💖💖💖

This book is smoking hot! I really enjoyed the crazy ride Nick and Maggie went through to find love. This book had just enough dark and twisted mixed with instant fire. Jason and Savannah did an amazing job narrating.
