Publisher's Summary

The latest epic in this best-selling author’s Athenian series of novels takes the listener on a vivid adventure where Themistocles will risk everything - his honor, his friendships, even his life - to protect his country.

The Battle of Salamis: Persian King Xerxes stands over the smoking ruins of Athens, an army of slaves at his back. Come to destroy, once and for all, everything that the city stands for, he stares pitilessly at the hopelessly outnumbered Greeks. Veteran soldier Themistocles cannot push the Persians back by force on land, and so he does so by stealth.

Dog died twice??

You ruined it for me Conn. First book was slightly dry, but had an intriguing story. Then you had the dog die at the end of the book. To redo that again at the beginning of the second book was just in poor taste. It seemed extremely pointless. Maybe you are trying to share some personal pain? Either way, never again will I read or listen to anything you write. Instead my reviews will say, “If you enjoy reading about loving pet dogs die, you’ll love this book!”. Bye Felicia.

Exceptionnel

Yet another exceptional work of Conn Iggulden’s. The choice of George Blagden for narration suited the work extremely well.

Another Gem

As usual, Conn Iggulden is a master of historical fiction. He paints the picture in your mind. I seem to be right there along with the characters. It also helps to have an exceptional narrator such as Mr. Blagden.
