Story
"It doesn't take an Einstein to understand modern physics," says Professor Wolfson at the outset of these 24 lectures on what may be the most important subjects in the universe: relativity and quantum physics. Both have reputations for complexity. But the basic ideas behind them are, in fact, simple and comprehensible by anyone. These dynamic and illuminating lectures begin with a brief overview of theories of physical reality starting with Aristotle and culminating in Newtonian or "classical" physics.

In The Quantum Universe, Brian Cox and Jeff Forshaw approach the world of quantum mechanics in the same way they did in Why Does E=mc2? and make fundamental scientific principles accessible - and fascinating - to everyone. The subatomic realm has a reputation for weirdness, spawning any number of profound misunderstandings, journeys into Eastern mysticism, and woolly pronouncements on the interconnectedness of all things. Cox and Forshaw's contention? There is no need for quantum mechanics to be viewed this way.

While physics does play a role in our lives, most of it involves things we don’t think about. For example, physics helps to define how our world is put together on a molecular level. Understanding how atoms split, we can understand how they use various waves to transmit information via data and sound. At the same time, it’s interesting to look at how physics can be used to help us understand dimensions, even the ones that might not be easily found or seen.

Quantum physics can be learned very well through self-teaching without the help of a professor. Now someone will be thinking: "But I have already picked up a book of quantum physics and I didn’t understand anything!" Of course you didn’t! You need the book that bridges the gap between the place you’re now (“I don't know anything about quantum physics”) to the place you aim to be ("I perfectly understand the basics of quantum physics") - and nothing overly complicated.

There was a time when “universe” meant all there is. Everything. Yet, in recent years discoveries in physics and cosmology have led a number of scientists to conclude that our universe may be one among many. With crystal-clear prose and inspired use of analogy, Brian Greene shows how a range of different “multiverse” proposals emerges from theories developed to explain the most refined observations of both subatomic particles and the dark depths of space.

In this 24-lesson course aimed at non-scientists, noted particle physicist Dr. Don Lincoln of Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory covers more than a century of progress in physics, describing exactly how scientists reach the conclusions they do. He starts with the atom, which was long hypothesized but wasn’t definitively proven until a paper by Albert Einstein in 1905. That was just the beginning, as researchers probed ever deeper into the atom’s complex structure, leading to the weird findings of quantum mechanics.

Really interesting
In my engineering classes, we often seemed to skip much of the conceptual implications of complex theories and go straight to the math of it all. Though the math is the meat of science, this book reminds us that it is sometimes worthwhile to step away from the calculus and discuss topics in human terms. Very refreshing and good information for non-scientists as well.

it was great in terms of the topic, setting, characters, and even plot. I really liked the narrative and theme. This audible keeps maintaining its knowledge. To help people have a better understanding of quantum physics in the most simplest of ways possible. Thanks author for sharing this audible.
The author has succeeded in the difficult task of simplifying, as much as possible a subject basically incomprehensible without the necessary basis. The audio is well spoken without any mathematical formula or equation, which would have been completely useless in this case. She gives a great introduction to quantum physics to the layman and to anyone who is passionate about physics, but doesn’t have the academic basis. Fantastic audiobook.

A perfect book about these topics
The argument certainly isn’t very simple. But the author was able to give explanations that can be understood even by people who aren’t knowledgeable in the matter. Some concepts remain rather hard to understand, but that is because the subject is difficult to understand. The author did a wonderful job at making it as easy to understand as possible, at least intuitively. This audiobook makes a subject for the few understandable for everybody. I found this audiobook extremely interesting, it gave me answers I couldn’t get until now, given my ignorance in the matter. Naturally a base knowledge of science high-school knowledge is necessary, but the author still manages to make quantum physics understandable for everyone.

Very good and solid teachings of the quantum real
That is a very complete book about the quantum realm. Some chapters were very very theoretical and you might feel you lost track at some point. But it still is the best book I’ve found about quantum physics for people like myself that enjoy studying physics in the free time. A lot of text to get through and even these starting out need a fairly good general understanding in order to make progress. This book covers just about every understanding of Quantum theory. Some math and simple drawings to support. Great for the lay enthusiast
