Publisher's Summary

Based on breakthrough new science in the field of hydration, Quench debunks many popular myths about "getting enough water" and offers a revolutionary five-day jump start plan that shows how better hydration can reduce or eliminate ailments like chronic headaches, weight gain, gut pain, and even autoimmune conditions.

Chronic headaches, brain fog, fatigue, weight gain, insomnia, gut pain, autoimmune conditions. We may think these and other all-too-common modern maladies are due to gluten intake or too much sugar or too little exercise. But there is another missing piece to the health puzzle: Proper hydration.

Yes, even in this era of Poland Spring many of us are dehydrated due to moisture-lacking diets, artificial environments, medications, and over-dependence on water as our only source of hydration. For this reason, that new diet or exercise plan may fail because our body doesn't have enough moisture to support it.

Quench presents a wellness routine that can reverse all of that, based on breakthrough new science in the field of hydration. Listeners will be surprised to learn that drinking too much water can flush out vital nutrients and electrolytes. Here is where "gel water" comes in: the water from plants (like cucumber, berries, aloe), which our bodies are designed to truly absorb right down to the cellular level. In fact, Ms. Bria's work as an anthropologist led her to the realization that desert people stay hydrated almost exclusively from what they eat, including gel plants like cactus.

Based on groundbreaking science from the University of Washington's Pollack Water Lab and other research, Quench offers a five-day jump start plan: hydrating meal plans and the heart of the program, smoothies and elixirs using the most hydrating and nutrient-packed plants. Another unique feature of their approach is micro-movements - small, simple movements you can make a few times a day that will move water through your fascia, the connective tissue responsible for hydrating our bodies.

You will experience more energy, focus, and better digestion within five days...then move onto the lifetime plan for continued improvements, even elimination of symptoms.

Critic Reviews

"Water is a scientific mystery and a complex subject that most of us take for granted and don't really understand its profound healing potential. Enter Dr. Dana Cohen and Gina Bria! They have written a long overdue and extremely important book on the merits of optimal hydration. As a clinical cardiologist, I can attest that the section on fat and hydration is absolutely outstanding! Highly recommended, this book will help put you on the right track toward optimum health, hydration and recovery. A must read!" (Dr. Stephen Sinatra, cardiologist and coauthor of Health Revelations from Heaven)

"Quench is the first book I have ever read that makes the connection between true hydration and the function of the connective tissue network known as fascia. Moreover, Dr. Cohen and Bria's explanation of what fascia is and what it does is compelling and brilliant. Finally, a book about the importance of hydration--and how to actually do it. Hint: It's not about drinking more water." (Christiane Northrup, MD, The New York Times best-selling author of Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom and The Wisdom of Menopause)

"Everyone knows that we must drink enough water. But Cohen and Bria, two authorities on hydration, tell us how we can obtain our water even more effectively from foods. I found their presentation refreshing and comprehensive - including a practical guide for achieving proper hydration in a painless (and delicious) way in your own kitchen. This book will set the standard for understanding the life-giving issue of keeping hydrated." (Gerald H. Pollack, PhD, professor at the University of Washington and author of The Fourth Phase of Water: Beyond Solid, Liquid, and Vapor)

THE defining book for water, but needs a 2nd edition quickly

I love the work the authors do and I love this book!

A most important book, so very needed by everyone, an now — ties in the science with how to apply in daily life, but needs an update immediately; with further consideration to lectins and oxalates:
- chia is suspect
- quinoa is suspect
- blanch kale and spinach (and cabbage-family vegetables) before using in shakes, salads, etc

Also needs to add when and how we can expose our bare skin to sunlight, and when to avoid it.

Can elaborate more about the different ways of sauna or spa (e.g. Nordic/Scandinavian, Russian, Korean, Turkish), i.e. the science of it and how we can apply it at home.

Can add also water and the lymphatic system, how it works and how we can move it and help it along, as well as the glymphatic system.

Dana and Gina, please continue spreading the word around. Continue to speak, interview and be everywhere :). I will also wait for the 2nd edition. More power to you, as you lift everybody along.

Comprehensive and insightful!!

An Excellent review of data and research into optimum hydration and the importance of cellular hydration and mineralization.I have read over 300 books on water and this book covers the information in many of them in a lovely easy to access and understand manner

I suggest you buy this audiobook for many reasons ,among them your overall happiness and health integration. Water is a mysterious and yet essential element, critical to brain and cellular function among other things.

for 50 years I have spoken about these research implications and here is a book with all the information under one title Bravo!

Quenched

The narrators voice is soothing. I definitely upped the speed on her reading though because it is a bit slower paced. The book itself contains helpful information and concepts regarding hydration that improved my quality of life. I have shared the tips and tricks with friends and family (and unsuspecting people who made small talk with me lol). If you’re looking for a book that will expand your knowledge base, I highly recommend this.

Less fat phobia, more anthropology please.

It would be a good book if it wasn’t steeped in fat phobia. Hydration doesn’t need to result in weight loss for it to matter to health. And books that support health needn’t appeal to dieters to gain appeal. I wish there was more time devoted anthropology and the traditional methods of hydration. These parts were gems. I appreciate the authors appeal to simplicity and ease. I also appreciate the diverse information they pulled together.

A MUST READ FOR ALL!

I've listened to book after book regarding health, none of them touched on the basic premise of overall body health and function to it's most simple core as this book has. WATER is life, this book will teach you how to improve your overall health through two simple things, maximizing water retention and slight body movements.

Inspirational and motivational

Love the PDF that comes with the audio version, with all of the reference points and support information. The narration blend works with the scientific approach and the medical case studies. Excellent source and an informative dose of how you can improve your everyday health.

Must read (listen) for any living person!

An excellent description of why hydration is essential for everyone, and expert, up to date advice on how to optimally hydrate. Exceptional content and well written. The narration was disappointing as it sounded at times like the voices had been sampled by a computer and the computer was doing the reading with their voices. It seemed that way because of unnatural pauses in the reading. Otherwise it was outstanding.

Fascinating!

I found the information fascinating. The speaker was slow so I listened at 1.3 speed. There's a lot of great information in this book that would be beneficial to most everyone. I read one review on here that said they focused too much on weight loss. I listened expecting to hear them mention weight constantly, but that never happened. They brought it up only as it was relevant and never droned on about it after already making their point. I have no idea what that listener heard that I didn't. This book was full of fascinating information, statistics, and studies. Loved it!

Not as expected

Basically an unbalanced sales pitch offering promises of an improved life after proper hydration. No fair balance and not written scientifically. Not what I was hoping for.

Nonsense

If 60% of the cell is water and the rest is fat, proteins and sugars am sure if you mix them all together the water isn’t going to be the same as the water you drink now , obviously it’s going to change viscosity, what a lot of nonsense these people are talking about
