Story
Lucy Sullivan is 26 and living it up (and occasionally down) in London. Hers is a life of quiet, undisciplined desperation. But when she and three friends visit a psychic for a bit of fun and the woman's predictions start coming true, Lucy is horrified. For the fortune-teller insisted she'd soon be married - within the year, in fact. Not only does Lucy not have a boyfriend, but the chances of getting one are looking slim. Between the bottles of wine, antidepressants and her addiction to self-help books, she's not quite ready to walk, or even stumble, down the aisle sober.

Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results. Cyril Avery is not a real Avery - or at least that's what his adoptive parents tell him. And he never will be. But if he isn't a real Avery, then who is he? Born out of wedlock to a teenage girl cast out from her rural Irish community and adopted by a well-to-do if eccentric Dublin couple via the intervention of a hunchbacked Redemptorist nun, Cyril is adrift in the world, anchored only tenuously by his heartfelt friendship with the infinitely more glamourous and dangerous Julian Woodbead.

Publisher's Summary
A special 25th anniversary edition narrated by the author.
Discover the deliciously dark and fantastically funny number one best seller about a woman living life rather too well and being whisked away from it all, from the number one best-selling author of Grown Ups.
'How did it end up like this? Twenty-seven, unemployed, mistaken for a drug addict, in a treatment centre in the back arse of nowhere with an empty Valium bottle in my knickers....'
Meet Rachel Walsh.
She's been living it up in New York City, spending her nights talking her way into glamorous parties before heading home in the early hours to her hot boyfriend, Luke.
But her sensible older sister showing up and sending her off to actual rehab wasn't quite part of her plan.
She's only agreed to her incarceration because she's heard that rehab is wall-to-wall Jacuzzis, gymnasiums and rock stars going cold turkey - plus it's about time she had a holiday.
Saying goodbye to fun will be hard. But not as hard as losing the man who she realises, all too late, might just be the love of her life....

Another Great Walsh Family Ride!
Just finished 14 hours of the 25th anniversary edition of this wild, hilarious, and heart filled work of art. It’s a delight to listen to Marian Keyes herself narrating this audiobook, different from the earlier edition. I once heard Marian interview another writer. I was so taken with her that I explored her own work. And as I make my way through her huge list of books, I have never been sorry! Her honest voice stays with me after each story.

Soooo boring!
I have heard so many people rave about this book and this character.
I found this book sooooo boring, the character unremarkable and unrelatable. I had to stop at Chapter 5 because I couldn’t focus on it.
I didn’t enjoy the narration either. Terrible.
It is just really basic chick lit.

Beatifully layered
Beautifully layered story with characters that unfold before you. I love that Rachel was neither a heroine nor anti-heroine, she was just a person. I think the ending would have been just as ‘happy’ without the epilogue but this was written in the zenith of Nora Ephron and Nancy Meyers endings. Marian Keyes’ narration is wonderful - I bought Again, Rachel in hard copy form before I knew about Rachel’s Holiday and thought I better ‘read’ the first one before cracking open the sequel. What a waste as I don’t think I can read Again, Rachel myself now, I definitely need Keyes to read it to me instead!

A fabulous and sometimes tortuous tale, read by the author herself which adds even more value to an already heartwarming yarn
I adored this story about Rachel Walsh and her gloriously eccentric Irish family. Marian Keyes has a delightfully lively way of bringing her characters to life. So many poignant and often amusing insights into what makes them tick, wonderfully observed nuances of contemporary life – the scenes throughout each chapter are all highly and engaging and entertaining! I was quite devastated to reach the end. Having Marian read her own work is such a treat for the listener. She engages with each of her characters so well, applying a variety of accents and mannerisms to enhance the experience. I can’t wait until she reads another one of her novels for Audible.
