"Sheldon's best by far...tense, exciting courtroom drama...poignant love story...suspense and terror." (Dallas Morning News)

Very Good, Fast Moving and Entertaining

I read this book years and years (and years) ago and enjoyed revisiting it in audio version. I would recommended it for its fast pace and interesting (although pretty predictable) story lines.

The plot and the narrator

Great book, I couldn’t stop listening and have to say the narrator, Lorelei King made everything come to life. Loved it and would definitely recommend it.

riveting... and depressing

Takes you on a pretty interesting ride, but the end sucks... rather ride somewhere else.
Just depressing most of the way through... kept hoping it would be worth it.
Riveted, but depressed.

Good story from the 80s

Good story, hard to put down but the writing feels a little dated. Oh, and if you can’t deal with the sexist 80s it’s not a story for you.

Performance is very bad

The performance in this book was dreadful. The main character was supposed to be an intelligent and dynamic woman. The performer voiced her as vapid and dimwitted. It was a real distraction.

Great Book, poor reader who took long breaks

If you could sum up Rage of Angels in three words, what would they be?

A Good Book

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jennifer Parker

How could the performance have been better?

A better reader that did not stop for 45 seconds between words and paragraphs. More than once I turn my phone on and off thinking it had stopped working.

You reap what you sow.

The story had a sad ending for Jennifer although it was realistic. Keeping secrets and lying by omission is not a good thing. We reap what we sow indeed.

Great start ending fell flat

I enjoyed the idea that Jennifer started roughly but would redeem herself. That would be fine is she struggled at her first cases once she got cases. However, she never really struggled in her cases. For example, she beats the district attorney her first trial. Never loses a trial or a negotiation.
Now she does suffer a tragedies involving her son. This drives her to some poor choices but she never suffers repercussions for some aggressive reactions.
I don’t claim to be a legal expert or saying she’s a Mary Sue but there was too much she got away with that put me off this story.

A thrilling read

What made the experience of listening to Rage of Angels the most enjoyable?

Lorelei King's portrayal of all the characters was so spot on you could see their facial expressions in your mind. The book had several twists and turns and gave you so much insight in to the height of corruption in the judicial system, and in to the way organized crime works.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I think I liked Michael Moretti. The power he had is rather intoxicating.

Which character – as performed by Lorelei King – was your favourite?

I'd say Michael Moreti's goons Vito, Salvetore and Karlala. They gave the book so much comedy.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes but if I was to tell you, I'd give the game away. suffice it to say that it happened near the end two the two major characters.

Any additional comments?

Read this book. you won't regret it but I'll warn you, don't read it if you can't deal with the violence, suspence and danger involved.

The Cosa Nostra....

Lorelei King brought Sidney Sheldon's book to life wonderfully for me. I didn't have any problem finishing it. I think that Sidney Sheldon has a deft hand at painting his picture with words, he described several foreign cities that I have yet to visit in concise but evocative detail, putting me right into the scene. I finally looked Lorelei King up on the internet and now I understand why she has such good diction, and such accurate mimicry - she's an American born British actress - I could listen to her reciting the phone book and still enjoy it.

Engaging and addictive

I could not listen to this book fast enough, Jennifer Parker a newly qualified lawyer so eager to please that she makes a rookie mistake by delivering a package that has been given to her by someone in at the court who calls her by name. Sadly the contents of the package scares the witness into not testifying. This in turn makes the whole case collapse and the district Attorney is gunning for her. She is accused of working with a notorious mob boss.

Jennifer hangs on to being a lawyer by the skin of her teeth and sets up a small practice and from then on she thrives and one day she comes up against the very DA who is after her blood.

Will she cower away, will she continue to thrive, what will happen to her heart, throw in the mob, danger, kidnap and conniving behaviour of a certain woman, you have it all. A very old book I read years ago but still entertaining
