Publisher's Summary

“A wise and fresh approach to mindful parenting.” (Tara Brach, author of Radical Acceptance)

A kinder, more compassionate world starts with kind and compassionate kids. In Raising Good Humans, you’ll find powerful and practical strategies to break free from “reactive parenting” habits and raise kind, cooperative, and confident kids.

Whether you’re running late for school, trying to get your child to eat their vegetables, or dealing with an epic meltdown in the checkout line at a grocery store - being a parent is hard work! And, as parents, many of us react in times of stress without thinking - often by yelling. But what if, instead of always reacting on autopilot, you could respond thoughtfully in those moments, keep your cool, and get from A to B on time and in one piece?

With this book, you’ll find powerful mindfulness skills for calming your own stress response when difficult emotions arise. You’ll also discover strategies for cultivating respectful communication, effective conflict resolution, and reflective listening. In the process, you’ll learn to examine your own unhelpful patterns and ingrained reactions that reflect the generational habits shaped by your parents, so you can break the cycle and respond to your children in more skillful ways.

When children experience a parent reacting with kindness and patience, they learn to act with kindness as well - thereby altering generational patterns for a kinder, more compassionate future. With this essential guide, you’ll see how changing your own “autopilot reactions” can create a lasting positive impact, not just for your kids, but for generations to come.

An essential, must-listen for all parents - now more than ever.

“To raise the children we hope to raise, we have to learn to become the person we hoped to be…. This wonderful book will help you handle the ride.” (KJ Dell’Antonia, author of How to Be a Happier Parent)

“Hunter Clarke-Fields shares her wisdom and personal experience to help parents create peaceful families.” (Joanna Faber and Julie King, coauthors of How to Talk So Little Kids Will Listen)

Great Book About Parenting and Teaching Kindness!

I loved this book! It gave me some perspective on the importance of connecting with my young children and being mindful about how I react to them. I realized I no longer want to be an authority figure, but show them love and empathy while teaching boundaries. I highly recommend this book.

Good Aggregate of Multiple Frameworks

I found this book to be very helpful. Like other reviews, if you have already read multiple parenting books, you can skip this one. If you haven't read any this book is perfect.

Skip this book!

Zero science or studies behind anything in the book. Summary, what you think about yourself (good or bad) is what you will unknowingly teach your kids.

practical and achievable advice

i really enjoyed this book, it was a reminder of what a privilege it is to be a parent. The audio was spoken very fast, but it is packed with practical and implementable suggestions for better, kinder and more connected parenting.

Mindfulness Applied to Parenting

While primarily focusing on the application of mindfulness to parenting, there were also some great methodologies to apply in supervision of other adults. I believe this will get a second and third read from me.

More for moms than dad's.

Good for moms I can say that. For dads it may not be suffice.

Unoriginal

Little new information if you’ve ever taken a meditation class or smoked pot. Daily practices in self awareness don’t solve everyone’s problems and it doesn’t relieve the hardships of parenting. Waste of money.

Amazing content! I've learned so much!

This book is great for learning better communication skills, and gaining more knowledge of emotional intelligence and how to apply it! This book specifically deals with parent-child interactions but I feel I've been able to apply it to all daily interactions. I would recommend this book to those who grew up in emotionally constipated families or households; those who are expecting and want a positive perspective on raising children; those who have children but are finding it difficult to obtain and maintain cooperation from them; anyone else looking to expand their horizon on emotional intelligence. I really liked having examples throughout to reinforce topics.

Great book but not the best fit in audio format

Very interesting but not ideal in audiobook format. I really enjoyed the ideas proposed by this book and will be listening to it again for sure but it is hard to take in her ideas (you really need to take your time with each one) and do the excercises suggested by the author. I believe it is one of the rare cases where a paper book it is better adapted...

Laurens review for Raising good Humans.

I found Raising good Humans to be extremely beneficial when it comes to how I parent my children. It has given me lots to think about and plenty of tools to use to help me be the best Mum I can be. I highly recommend this to any parent who wants to learn how to be calmer, to prevent yelling & provide the best care & unconditional love to your children.

excellent

Excellent book. Narration a little rushed - too little time between paragraphs/points/sentences. Will likely have to purchase the hard copy of this book to fully absorb!
