Story
Have you ever desired, deep within your soul, to make a comfortable full-time living from a farming enterprise? Too often people dare not even vocalize this desire because it seems absurd. It's like thinking the unthinkable. After all, the farm population is dwindling. It takes too much capital to start. The pay is too low. The working conditions are dusty, smelly and noisy: Not the place to raise a family. This is all true, and more, for most farmers.

Working smarter, not harder, also prevents the kind of burnout that start-up farmers often encounter in the face of long, hard, backbreaking labor. Lean principles grew out of the Japanese automotive industry, but they are now being followed by progressive farms around the world....

An excellent audible
The first half of Excellent Sheep is about the problems of higher education. Nothing here that I have not heard before: students who cannot accept failure or C’s, helicopter parents, administrators treating scholars like consumers, etc. But what makes this audible great is the second half, where Deresiewicz focuses on the heart of higher education.

Excellent Sheep
This audible is a forceful indictment of the current college system and what happens to kids who are on the fast track to completion. Deresiewicz states that these students have learned how to please their teachers and coaches over their school years and that the process has robbed them of reflective abilities that could benefit their stressed, often depressed, state of mind. He speaks forcefully about this, saying at one point, “They’ve learned to ‘be a student,’ not to use their minds.”

This audible suggests appropriate contest, delves into coat types and breeds. It even touches on livestock guardian dogs and herding dogs. It can't cover every topic to the fullest extent, but it gives you enough knowledge to understand how all the sections fit together when raising sheep, some topics may need more investigation and experimentation on the reader's part.
