Great advise

Hearing the author's own story was very touching for me as I found myself in many things she said. Having dealt with my own diagnosis, you would think I could handle the problem in a smaller form. Humbly I can say I needed help and learned a few more things about myself as well as how to help my child fight his own battle. We are both on a better path toward small goals at first but greater things beyond.

So well put together

Such a professional and well put together book and audiobook which has been filled with a ton of information whilst staying extremely easy to digest and understand. Very interesting chapter about how ADHD can actually effect the brain which was a deep-dive that I hadn't heard before and was just interesting. However, by far the most helpful chapter for parents with children ADHD diagnosis is the numerous techniques that can help your child concentrate and be as productive as possible. Overall, I learnt a ton of new information that I didn't previously know and have taken away some practical tips I can implement with my child.

Helpful resource for anyone with an ADHD child

As someone with a niece who was recently diagnosed with ADHD, this audiobook has answered my questions about ADHD including the meaning of the diagnosis (which I had initially questioned) as well as the various treatments available. This audiobook also answered my main question which is how will ADHD affect her formal education. One of the most interesting chapters of this audiobook is the one covering Behavioral Therapy. But if I had to say what the greatest benefit of this book was for our family is that it allowed us to grasp the fact that we are not alone in having a child with ADHD.

Excellent Book for Parents!

I can’t say enough great things about this book! The author shares great stories about her struggles raising a child with ADHD and offers sound, practical advice to helping parents effectively raise their own kids!

Chapter 6 goes into great detail about handling reactive and intense emotions. She gave an example of how her own daughter loved reading, and when it was time to switch to learning math, her daughter had a melt down. This was such an important lesson for me. From this chapter I learned that by her switching to a different activity like math, her daughter felt she was taking away an enjoyable activity that she was good at (e.g- reading). Moral of the story is, having that conversation with your child could make all the difference in how they view the situation! Great book all around that offers practical advice!

Informative and compassionate

The author did a fantastic job in explaining the key aspects of ADHD, providing practical advice that comes from an authentic place. From her own experience with her daughter, she shares the struggles and helps other parents get a better understanding of what is going on in their kid's brains, how their hormones are influencing their behaviour, and tips to compassionately deal with those moments. She also provides a detailed review of the treatments and tools available for parents to pursue and remind
us that children with ADHD also have their own superpowers.

Functional advice

A friend of ours has a kid with ADHD, and have been having a hard time knowing how to manage raising him. Bought this for her as a gift on a whim, and she has since thanked us. Not only does it help reassure her that her situation isn't unusual or abnormal, but that there are plenty of methods of working with and improving life her son and family. would recommend

Parents having ADHD children may feel ashamed and degraded when they see normal children around them. But it doesn't mean it's your child's mistake. Danial Radcliffe as Harry Potter is one of the favourite children characters he is also an ADHD child, but he does not get down with this disability.

To find your ADHD child skills is all you need to look out for them with patience.

A definite must have for parents!

This book is absolutely amazing. As a teacher I wanted to understand this diagnosis better to service my students. The book provides much more than the normal surface level literature available online and in teaching text. A real insight into the uniqueness of each child’s condition. I found the chapter on medication particularly insightful and how CBT is much more effective and safe, each chapter was very detailed and progressive. A definite must have for parents.

Parents need this!!

Throughout this book, the author does an amazing job helping the listener understand the brain of their ADHD child, and also the different types that can manifest. What I found really helpful was the discussion of relieving parental guilt after receiving a diagnosis and throughout everyday life. My favorite part of this book was the last chapter discussing daily routines because I was able to get a ton of ideas to support routines for your child.

A great book for those who teach kids with ADHD

I am a teacher who has many children diagnosed and undiagnosed with ADHD. It is challenging to find a constructive way to teach them well. We must teach them the material in our curriculum and many other skills and important life lessons. They must learn to behave well in class, communicate with their teachers and other students, understand and constructively show their emotions without disrupting the teacher, understand why empathy is essential, and harness and use their hormonal imbalance in their favor. The book Raising Superstar Kids with ADHD gave me a lot of insight into how these children function and gave me a lot of tools to support, encourage, motivate, inspire and teach them how to thrive. The book is written from the perspective of a parent whose child went through all the trials and tribulations of ADHD and came out of these challenges as a winner. The writer did a lot of research on the topic and combined that knowledge with her real-life experience. This book gives concrete tools to help kids with ADHD, their parents, and their teachers. I highly recommend it to everybody who struggles with ADHD or has some contact with someone who has ADHD. Raising Superstar Kids with ADHD gave me a lot of ideas on how to cope with challenging situations and work with these kids in the future. It also helped me recognize a lot of undiagnosed kids, and I hope I will help them thrive. I have a kid in my class who has an assistant who helps him regulate his behavior, and she also loves the book. We can't wait to apply all the pieces of advice from the book.

Great perspective

Rather than viewing ADHD as a hindrance to development this book looks at it from the completely opposite angle and quite rightly so. A brilliant perspective to have as ADHD certainly can bring many positives to a developing child. The strategies discussed in the book are probably the biggest takeaway as they are not only practical and make sense but are easy to apply to get results. Overall a very well written and narrated book.
