Publisher's Summary

Grayson McDonough has no use for teal ribbons, 5k runs, or ovarian cancer support groups now that his beautiful wife Jenna is gone. But their nine-year-old daughter Sadie seems to need the connection.

When Annabelle Curtis, the beautiful cancer survivor organizing the memory quilt project for the Ovacome support group, begins to bring out the silly and fun side of his precious daughter again, Gray must set aside his own grief to support the healing of Sadie's young heart. But is there hope for Gray's heart too along the way?

Nine?

I would love to give this book a higher rating; however, the character of Sadie not only soured, but also distracted from the story. Sadie is introduced as a nine yr old, but her behavior was that of a 4 yr old; at best.
Additionally, her back talking & temper are only mildly addressed. I kept waiting for the “reason” to be incorporated into her character and her behavior to be addressed in a gentle and loving way, instead of blown off.
Sadly, this and the narrator’s performance (melding all the female voices) towards the end frustrated me and left me with sour taste.

A Great Reader

This was a well written tale and the narrator did an excellent job of capturing the essence of each theme with the appropriate inflection.

It was a delight to listen to this installment in the series.

Thank you both for this experience.

good except for high pitch squeaky voices

the story is good overall but the performance is lacking. the little girl in the story always squealing and high pitch is not what you want to hear when you're just relaxing listening to a story. so that was very annoying and the main female in the story has a pretty high-pitched voice compared to most book stories. I guess when I was sent to a story I wanted to be relaxing I guess I want to be captivating and catch my attention but hearing the high pitch talking and squealing is very annoying. the story was good. that's the only reason why I finished it.

Christian Contemporary Romance

Christian Contemporary Romance

I LOVED THIS BOOK!! Tender, sweet, emotional, and maybe because I'm the grown daughter of a victim to cancer, this story line was very near to my heart!
The narration was very good, but everytime Sadie's spoke, her loud character voice grated on my nerves. Her father on the other had was very soft spoken, so if I turned it down I couldn't hear everything he said, but when I turned it up, I cringed every time Sadie spoke. I usually listen to audiobooks at night when my family's gone to bed, so the big variation in volume made this a bit hard to listen too.
Also every time Sadie said "sorry", which is fairly often, it seemed so fake. It definitely didn't seem defiant like a teenager, or just not contrite enough, like a toddler. But, if I was to ever hear my own children say it like that, they would have been corrected. I'm not sure if either of my points are what the author asked for, or what the narrator added on her own. The journal was my favorite part of the book. A lot of wisdom was written in those words, and I especially loved the reiteration of Sadie's wonderful uniqueness and God's perfection!

Great Story but...

The child's voice and mannerisms were sometimes very difficult to listen to. Even when I thought she was 5 or 6 years old, I struggled. One thing the author hit on for age appropriate was on the rare occasions of her acting the brat. I did love the actual story and theme of the book.

Nicely done story.

I enjoyed the characters and the story. I liked that the mom wrote things down for her daughter in a journal. Maybe we should all be doing that for our loved ones. We need to let our children and grandchildren just how much we love them and what we dream for their lives.

I liked the Bible verses at the end of chapters - but as an audiobook the book and verse reference was often past before I realized how fitting the verse was… I think anyone would enjoy the book regardless of their faith.

Heart Warming!!

I really enjoyed this book. My mom died of Lymphoma and a friend died from ovarian cancer. This was done so well with "Mommy's journal" to Sadie. I also like this book because it had no curse words and was clean and so very sweet. The progression of the love between Annabelle and Gray was perfect and Jenna was not forgotten.. I cried at the end, happy tears. By the way, my husband's name is on the account. My name is Angela.

Heartwarming

Predictable storyline but nevertheless a very interesting storyline. This author writes a clean and tidy easy read book. Loved the quilting and enjoyed hearing the journal by mum.
