This book has changed me.
From living in fear, having general anxiety, acute anxiety and mild to quite severe depression, whilst still having some hope in me and an innate ambition to love life. I have read many books on my journey. I have listened to a good handful of teachers. I've learnt something from everyone. This book has almost been the shiny wrapping and neat bow that has wrapped up my lessons, but also helped me to find clarity and ... love.
I walked to work listening to it one day. Normally a pretty dull walk. But I saw so much beauty that day.
The chapter that involves the Christmas presents made me weep, in the street, just with pure love and joy.
I'm going to listen again and again.
I want these words to be my blueprint.
I want every human to have this book, these lessons. I'm certainly going to recommend it to everyone I love, or at least the people i know about for a start.
I love this book.
I love Sharon.
I just get it.
And I love that!

truly amazing 🤩😍😍
I am a big fan of Sharon Salzberg's work. This was particularly wonderful. I learnt so much about how to show compassion to ourselves and each other and the value of that. The importance of little daily changes and the value of practicing compassion and love every single day on many levels with many people

Great book!
After reading this book I found myself to be kinder to myself, I learned to appreciate and pay closer attention to the present moments which have taught me valuable lessons, and allow myself to feel emotions and realise they are not permanent. I highly recommend this book !

Bit pretensious
Was hard to feel a connection with the author as felt that they had no empathy for the subject

Inspiring introduction to mindfulness
I got a lot out of this book on first listen - it provides lots of tools, examples and techniques for many different situations in life. I was constantly recognising either myself or my loved ones in examples and having ‘aha’ moments where the author illustrated a way of thinking or approaching situations which I could immediately see the value in. The author also has a lovely voice. I appreciated that the book referenced research a lot in order to give the topics discussed some scientific background, although I did have a chuckle a couple of times at some studies quoted which seemed a bit like quackery or drew far-fetched conclusions. These were in the minority though, and most of the science provided a good simple base for the therapeutic content of the book. I enjoyed the frequency of real-world examples, which, whilst not always super relevant to me, did provide some breathing time to digest the techniques being taught and offer a frame of reference to appreciate the value of techniques which I might not have immediately recognised.
I would honestly recommend this book to most people as it is quite a broad text which touches on so many elements of life, certainly anyone who is struggling with self-love or relationships of any kind (whether friendship, romantic or workplace) or anyone looking to feel happier day-to-day. I will certainly be reading again, and exploring further in other material the topics in this book that were most relevant to my life.

Captivating
I wasn’t sure if this was going to be for me. New to meditation and curious about love but currently single, I was afraid of pain resurfacing. Real love has opened me up to embrace love in a whole different way. To treasure what I have, and acknowledge what I don’t and to find love in the everyday interactions and moments I have. I feel like my soul has lifted and I will be reading this again and again and revisiting the meditations as I continue to experience life with its beautiful highs and lows.

one of the best spiritual books ever
I am surprised so few comments for such a wonderful book. just proves that so called bestsellers doesn't always guide well.
it's beautiful, in a quiet and meaningful way. it shows a potential way of living-without judgments, unnecessary suffering and with lots of love. the difference is that you are not doing it for any deity or other reason, but for yourself and the fellow human beings. Sharon gives plenty of examples of how it might work on real life so it's practical too. could not recommend higher
