Publisher's Summary
A suspicious death in a small town reawakens Izzie’s long-dormant itch for digging up the truth.
When Izzie Di Sante’s dream career as an investigative reporter hit a roadblock, she traded her press pass for an apron and returned home to manage the family restaurant. However, some things are impossible for Izzie to ignore. Like when the details surrounding the death of a long-time acquaintance don’t add up.
She tells herself it’s her overactive imagination. Except the police report and circumstances reawaken the itch to uncover the truth—or in this case, the killer. Can she solve the case and follow her dream while managing her family restaurant?
This is a prequel to the Izzie Di Sante Mysteries.

Good Background info for the series
This is the prequel to the Izzie Di Sante Mysteries. Ms. Nardi writes two other mystery series, Sheridan Hendley series, a crime-solving college professor, and the Stacie Maroni series about a woman who works in human resources and uses her knowledge to assist the police.
Based on those two series, I was ready to give this new series a shot. The mystery was good but I felt it dwelled too much on personal relationships. I felt at points it dragged on but it does give the reader a perspective on Izzie and how she returns to investigative reporting.
All in all, this gives me sufficient background for the first book to the series. I am looking forward to it. The narrator, Janelle Bennett did a good job relaying the story and therefore I give the overall package a 3.5 rating which will be rounded up based on the rating system.
I received an audio Advanced Reader Copy of this book and I am not required to leave a positive review.

Great start to a new series!
Reawakening the Itch is a prequel to the Izzie DiSante mystery series by Christa Nardi. Izzie left her career as an investigative reporter to return home to help run the family restaurant. She doesn’t seem all that happy about it, but takes her family responsibilities seriously. When her sister’s childhood friend is found murdered, Izzie is back in the game and working to solve the crime, and write up her story! The narration by Janelle Bennet is great. She brings the story and characters to life.

Great book
Izzie and her sister, Chloe, work at the family restaurant. Chloe’s best friend is murdered and Izzie has an itch from her days as an investigative reporter telling her there was more to the story.
I like Izzie and Chloe’s closeness as sisters. Izzie is a strong, intelligent woman. I love how she handles herself. It was a quick read with a satisfying ending. I look forward to listening to more of this series.

light mystery in a restaurant setting
Reawakening the Itch is a short story, a little too short for my taste. The killer was obvious. He dropped so many clues, but Izzy didn't pick any of them up until the sudden ending. This would have been better if it was longer and more developed. there's not much detail about the restaurant or running it, not much conflict and no stakes until the very end, but it felt contrived like the author had hit a target word count and could end it now.
Izzy doesn't do much investigating, and that bothered me because I expected her to really dig into the mystery and question everyone, get her evidence and take the reader with her. that's what I imagine an investigative report does, and I wanted to see her in action. But she was passively going about her life and occasionally doing something mystery related. then again, she had no compelling reason to get involved. her sister wasn't a suspect and the police's theory of a break in didn't put anyone else in danger.
this was kind of frustrating to listen to. it didn't deliver what I'm used to getting in cozies.
But the narrator was fantastic. she did her best to infuse something into each character. I'd not listened to any of her work before but I'd like to listen to more audio books narrated by her.
I don't think I'll continue with this series though. it didn't deliver what I was looking for. I'm a huge fan of mysteries of all kinds.

Great Cozy Mystery Prequel
Christa Nardi has written a charming prequel for a new cozy mystery series. I enjoyed the story. I liked the introduction to the new amateur sleuth named Izzie Di Sante, and I'm looking forward to more stories about her. Izzie gave up her dream to return home to manage the family restaurant. She is drawn back into her role as an investigative reporter due to suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of her sister's friend. Janelle Bennett's narration was fine, and she kept my attention with her oration. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Well written whodunnit
An enjoyable well written whodunnit. Izzie former investigative reporter now manages the family restaurant. When her sisters friend dies in mysterious circumstances she begins an investigation. The story is excellent. Christa Nardi rarely disappoints and this is a good one. Janelle Bennet is a new narrator to me and has an easy to listen to voice, stylish delivery, not a huge range but does well with the story. I did work out the killer fairly early but this did not affect my enjoyment of the book. I received a complimentary copy from the author and am leaving a voluntary honest review

Very Good
When murder happens and you get the itch to solve it you've just got to scratch it. Another interesting Cozy mystery from Christa Nardi here. Good characters and a good storyline combine to make and very good read. Janelle Bennett does a nice job of the narration helping to bring the story to life. Highly recommended.
