Every time we eat, we have the power to radically transform the world we live in. Our choices can help alleviate the most pressing issues we face today: the climate crisis, infectious and chronic diseases, human exploitation and, of course, non-human exploitation. Undeniably, these issues can be uncomfortable to learn about but the benefits of doing so cannot be overstated. It is quite literally a matter of life and death.

Have you ever experienced the feeling of being unique from others; how you feel things and respond to certain situations are just different from how others would normally react? If so, you might consider yourself to have the empathic gift. Although you have distinctive abilities from others, this does not necessarily mean that you are not normal. You have a strong sense of personal being that many people tend to gravitate toward you. Being an empath will not affect your personality or change how you interact with the world around you.

Choosing from among the countless potential foods nature offers, humans have had to learn what is safe, and what isn't. Today, as America confronts what can only be described as a national eating disorder, the omnivore's dilemma has returned with an atavistic vengeance.

Intelligence is usually seen as the ability to think and learn, but in a rapidly changing world, there's another set of cognitive skills that might matter more: the ability to rethink and unlearn. In our daily lives, too many of us favor the comfort of conviction over the discomfort of doubt. We listen to opinions that make us feel good, instead of ideas that make us think hard. We see disagreement as a threat to our egos, rather than an opportunity to learn.

The book I have been waiting for!
During lockdowns, I tried more plant-based food and became increasingly aware of health and environmental issues. This book neatly sums up many of my concerns and shows ways to improve your health and environmental footprint with a vegan lifestyle. It was also very engaging as we learned from Sinclair’s journey from dairy farmer to vegan activist.
I especially liked the chapter on Meat Corruption that exposed farm subsidies and the current unsustainable farming industry. Highly recommended.

An inspirational, fresh and tangible vegan take-away!
I had this book recommended by a friend who realised that this was exactly what I needed to hear. Given the ever-increasing environmental and health reasons for plant-based nutrition there is very little justification left for eating animal products. Yet for many, including myself, it’s a seemingly daunting ‘life-style’ choice, but one which Todd manages to represent in such a powerful yet fun and engaging way the challenge quickly becomes an exploration you genuinely want to share and realise.
Recalling his transition from family farm to free-range traveller with all the fascinating experiences and encounters that helped shape his understanding in a way that makes you feel part of his journey; appropriating, cultivating and representing the best of all world’s and ultimately dispelling any hesitations about adopting a vegan diet without ever needing to induce a sense of guilt and leaving you hungry to take the next step!
An absolutely brilliant book and reference, made light and palatable and a must for anybody starting, considering or needing persuading of plant-based nutrition as well as anybody aside as this goes beyond the stereotype and propagander and gives us all reason to pause, and rebel with plenty of cause.

An unapologetic case for veganism
It’s been an exciting time to see the rise of awareness and interest in veganism. Although, I have been vegan for 5 years, I took so much away and feel more energized than ever. I genuinely can’t see how anybody with an open mind and heart—and willingness to challenge the status quo— could continue consuming animal products after reading this book. It packs a punch!

A really good over view of veganism through history and helps put it in context from ancient time to modern society. Helps to understand our bodies and how we use nutrients as we have evolved. Illuminating, Inspiring, Informative, Inclusive
This is a great book for both vegans and carnivores, and very inspiring for me as a "part-time vegetarian". It's informative, well structured, but most of all it's completely inclusive and non-judgemental - the author writes with compassion and respect of people's different choices, driven by love for the planet and its creatures. The book gives an interesting overview of veganism from a historical, philosophical and environmental perspective, as well as practical tips on how to navigate the world, and the supermarket aisle, if you wish to make more plant based choices. I feel motivated and excited to delve more into this subject, and I can't wait to start on the next book by the author: Rebel vegan life: a plant-based nutrition and beginner's guide. Highly recommend!

The production and narrators of the book are good. I found it easy to listen too whilst doing other tasks and particularly enjoyed the different narrator for the quotes.
Insightful and very useful book for anyone interested in plant based effects and diets.
I'm recommending to people trying to be more sustainable and healthier.
