Publisher's Summary

Corrupted.

This is the word that has defined Yu since her infancy. Her God Sign is corrupted and so she is a cultivator without cultivation. Frail and sickly, Yu is the only descendant of her mighty warrior lineage to live without strength, without purpose. She is a stain on the honor of her family, an embarrassment to her prestigious clan.

Hidden away, Yu comes to live with the constant scorn and ridicule of her peers. She is bullied, beaten, and bloodied. But she is never broken.

She dreams of one day proving herself worthy.

Defying her father’s wishes, Yu trains with her twin Jian swords, using her flawless memory to perfect their complex forms. Working in secret, she builds her martial skills to a level unheard of for her young age. But her skills mean little without cultivation.

Until she is given a chance—a chance to be reborn.

Mc is not whiner

I almost did not get this based on the top review, but found it to be totally wrong.

Light on numbers but good story

Loved it, worth the credit

Female main character, 100% badass, 50% unbreakable will, 50% piece of **** family.

She's a total badass, only lacks confidence which she gains every single chapter. She keeps being beaten down, with ridicule and physical beatings but she always gets back up.

The only thing I don't really like is how she puts the clan above herself, but it's not really a bad thing just interesting/different.

I liked the narrator but some people might not.

I have no regrets buying this book. Now I'm eagerly awaiting the next volume.

MC is a whiner

Feels like the synopsis & many reviews are misleading. Our MC isn't a badass, nor does she have a positive, can-do attitude. She constantly feels sorry for herself, complains, cries with slight provocation, and has to be pushed by others to succeed. It doesn't help that the narrator chooses a whiny voice much of the time. And her progression is slow, making the story kind of boring.

I'm resentful of comparisons to Cradle; it's hard to see these comparisons are made in good faith. There really aren't any likeable characters here and zero humor. Dream on, people.

I absolutely love this book!

This was such a fun book! I was overwhelmed with just how good it was! I haven't listened to a book this good in ages!

I was hesitant to buy the book because it said the main character had no cultivation, yet listed it as a cultivation novel. For those of you that love listening to cultivation novels (like I do), this book is amazing! There is so much good cultivation!

It has also been far too long since I listened to a book with a female main character done well. This one was done absolutely amazing! The main character has gone through so many difficulties at that a lot of people would just curl up and die. But not her, no she has a immense strength of will matched only by her strength of character! I absolutely love it!

The narrator also did a phenomenal job!

Try this book, you won't be disappointed!

Get it! GET IT NOW!!!

I stumbled across this title and read what it was about and WOW, If you're into Cultivation Novels this is Top Shelf with a Perfect Narration. My only gripe would be that I have to wait for the next book!

Five Stars

I bought this book because there's not enough cultivation stories with a female MC.
After listening to it, it's become one of my favorite Series.
I can't wait for the next book.

Frustrating and unsatisfying

"Sorry about the lifetime of constant abuse, pain and crippling loneliness but in my defense I didn't actively try to kill you" basically every character. No one is likeable. Everyone is incompetent. World building relies on your previous knowledge of cultivation. Laws and customs are told to be absolute but only apply at the whim of the author. The antagonists are given near immunity to all repercussions again and again and again. The MC has perfect recall and reads all day everyday but knows very little! Even if she had a normal memory she would still have bizarre holes in her knowledge. She cant read a map and doesn't know the basic geography of the surrounding area. The excuse given time and time again is the library doesn't have any information on that subject. So your telling me in a world where trade, medical, political and martial ability is achieved through cultivation doesn't have a single book on the subject!

Engaging and good paced story

i realy liked this book. the mc's progression is unorthodoks and happens at a good pace, with little to no downtime thats boring. caracter development is also natural, the short time skips are well done and comes natural. the story is cool, and a little mysterious for rigth now, sins some things have to wait for the next book to know more. i eagerly look forward to the next book, hope it wont be to long!

A excellent book.

This book turned out much better than I thought it would and I'm so glad I took the chance on it.
The MC has gone through so many painful situations and survived despite having everything stacked against her, I've no idea how she kept such a even and kind ,but not weak, never weak, character . I hope she has a few years of Relative peace and happiness, but somehow I don't think that will be happening.

One of my favourites

When I started this book I assumed it would be an average cultivation book. But the storyline is very good. Good enough that I want to read the next book in the serise. This does have an overpowered protagonist, but she starts our very weak and the methods she obtains her power makes a lot of sense to the story and is not too overpowered for her progress. The narration is good and suits thr characters well. I would recommend this book fully.

A Great Start!

Got this book on a whim and I am so glad I did.
The story is enjoyable, set on the outskirts of a large empire, about proper cultivation, meridians etc, not too heavy on stats. Good action and some comical moments.
The world building is really good and the narration is top notch.
Looking forward to the next in the series.

Great story BUT…

Great story and performance good length, however the speed at which DI FREED writes and the fact that the other series is still incomplete makes me wonder. It’s such a well written story that I don’t want to be invested two or three books in like invasion and not to get a conclusion or continuation.

very solid and enjoyable

I hadn't heard of this author and given the limited reviews is probably not well known but this is a strong entry in litrpg genre. The main character in this book is solid and the story arc is enjoyable. The audio book is well read and suits this story.

There are some weaknesses. its probably more 4 star but I added one given the limited reviews and this books minor issues don't distract from it definitely being worth being picked up. The world is well constructed, full of normal litrpg troupes but unique enough but the beasts are important but not integrated well to the story. The overlap of cultivation and RPG elements are part of that challenge as development isn't closely connected to fights but there are beast cores with unclear use but people and beast don't give any clear benefits growth is mostly by cultivation.

but overall a good read and time well spent.

Excellent - Snared me immediately

Well written. Totally engaging. Desperate for the next installment. The lead character is engaging and has you cheering her on. Complex characters and fore-warnings abound. Excellent narration.
