It is now in vogue to celebrate non-Western cultures and disparage Western ones. Some of this is a much-needed reckoning, but much of it fatally undermines the very things that created the greatest, most humane civilization in the world. In The War on the West, Douglas Murray shows how many well-meaning people have been fooled by hypocritical and inconsistent anti-West rhetoric.

William Barr’s first tenure as attorney general under President George H.W. In this candid memoir, Barr takes listeners behind the scenes during seminal moments of the 1990s, from the LA riots to Pan Am 103 and Iran Contra. Thirty years later, Barr faced an unrelenting barrage of issues, such as Russiagate, the COVID outbreak, civil unrest, the impeachments, and the 2020 election fallout.

In 1955 the killers of Emmett Till, a black Mississippi youth, were acquitted because they were white. Forty years later, despite the strong DNA evidence against him, accused murderer O. J. Simpson went free after his attorney portrayed him as a victim of racism. The age of white supremacy has given way to an age of white guilt—and neither has been good for African Americans. Through articulate analysis and engrossing recollections, acclaimed race relations scholar Shelby Steele sounds a powerful call for a new culture of personal responsibility.

Behind a smokescreen of “preparing students for the new industrial economy,” early progressives had political control in mind. America’s original schools didn’t just make kids memorize facts or learn skills; they taught them to think freely and arrive at wisdom. They assigned the classics, inspired love of God and country, and raised future citizens that changed the world forever. Battle for the American Mind is the untold story of the Progressive plan to neutralize the basis of our Republic—by removing the ingredient that had sustained Western Civilization.

And contrary to what we hear from media “experts” about today’s “renewable revolution” and “climate emergency”, reality has proven Epstein right.

In a bracingly honest reflection on both his own past work for the Republican Party and the contortions of his former peers in the GOP establishment, Miller draws a straight line between the actions of the 2000s GOP to the Republican political class's Trumpian takeover, including the horrors of January 6th.

Publisher's Summary
“Savagery appeased can only grow. Once you give in to it, it must escalate, like a fire searching for air.”
The man who won the Pulitzer Prize for Glengarry Glen Ross, who wrote the classic films The Verdict and Wag the Dog sounds his alarm about the Visigoths at our gates.
In Recessional, he calls out, skewers, mocks, and, most importantly, dissects the virus of conformity which is now an existential threat to the West.
A broad-ranging journey through history, the Bible, and literature, Recessional examines how politics and cultural attitudes about rebellion have shifted in the United States in the last generation. By screaming down freedom of thought and expression, Mamet explains, we kill invention and democracy—the foundations of security and growth.
A wickedly funny, wistful and wry appeal to the free-thinking citizen, Recessional is a vital warning that if we don’t confront the cultural thuggery now, the commissars and their dupes will transform the Land of the Free into the dictatorship at which they aim.

Phenomenal…
Mr. Mamet’s command of the language and writing skills make this the best book I have listened to in years. I am a road warrior, so I listen more than I read. However, I plan to buy the printed book now so I can see the words as well as hear them. If I were braille literate, I’d get that edition as well so I could feel the words.
Yes, I am a “conservative,” so I appreciate the author’s understanding of today’s societal challenges. You give us hope, Mr. Mamet.

Meh…It’s an okay listen
I think that Mamet does have some interesting points and analysis of what he thinks is happening within today’s society, but his lack of being open for debate makes him come across as an angry old man rather than someone looking to discuss his view of the world. His rhetoric leads the listener to conclude that he is just as narrow-minded and blind to “the left”,as he puts it, as he claims they are to “the right”. Overall, it is an interesting read, but it also seems more of an angry rant than discourse on what’s really happening in America.

Just Chill Out
I bought this new book after reading a recent review of it in the Wall Street Journal.
Fifty percent of Americans aren’t able to ignore their political biases and wouldn’t read beyond the first page or two, even if the book was given to them. If you are part of the other half of Americans, you might find the essays clever, educational, and enlightening. Listen to merely 60 seconds of the audio sample and you will immediately identify your affiliation. If you are in the first group, avoid this book, spare us your hostile assessment, and just chill out.

Amazing book!!!!
This book took me by surprise. It’s not that I had low expectations, it’s more that I had no expectations. The writing is some of the best I have ever read, but the way Mr. Mamet weaves his personal history with his personal library and current political issues is masterful. This was so good that I listened to it twice, back-to-back because I was sure I missed things the first time through. It was a joy to read, even though the topics are those that are the most difficult to discuss. This book is a triumph.

Highly listenable and thought provoking
I've been a fan of Mamet for some time, and this is a wonderful addition. It's a collection of essays that present Mamet's personal takes on how political correctness and invaded and in some ways ruined our America. Well read by Frangione, and very listenable, although I sort of wish Mamet had narrated it himself. Some books don't belong on audio, but this one works well.

A not so great book from a truly great writer.
The parts of this book concerned with writing are truly worth hearing/reading. Other parts are a little off the wall and some parts are just downright incorrect. See for example "Yeats is the greatest English poet since Shakespeare". Yeats was Irish but I can hear Mamet say "yes but we're talking about the English language". So in a nutshell this isn't for everyone...but is still very interesting.

With Duck Variations, Mamet’s masterpiece.
The left, who would destroy America, like their humour anodyne and as a virtue signal of safe consent. Mamet rips them a new one with his trenchant analysis of their dastardly ways and with a wit direct from God! The reciter also sounds respectful and is enjoying what he’s reading. Wait till Bezos finds out about this book he’s selling! Highest recommendation.
