ANGSTY.. BEAUTIFUL & FULL OF EMOTIONAL LANDMINES

This was my guilty obsession.. and there wasn’t anything reckless about it - because every single well-written feel hit just right.. every single addictive word sang to my soul.. and every single chapter held emotional mayhem, music and magic. And the bags under my eyes this morning are so worth the mental fight in the night between the clock’s hands pointing to late late late and me lying to myself with broken promises of “just one more chapter”. Because Ms Christy has written a very addictive and compelling story here.. but the jackpot win is the awesome dual POV narration by Erin and Jason who really delivered outstanding five star performances which brought the many characters and feels-filled storyline to life.. and it also includes.. sigh and wipe my drool.. Jason singing.. well color me there.

Crew and Brianna (Bria) were destined to make beautiful music together both professionally and personally.. but their tension-filled push n pull heartbreaking heartwarming journey was a long, layered and complicated one because Crew was still emotionally damaged by events seven years in the past. And, even though the instant chemistry between himself and Bria is intense and palpable, Crew wrestles and wriggles with his guilt over his growing feelings for Bria.. but to have a future with her, he will have to say a heartbreaking goodbye to the past. Bria realized there were secrets and along their journey she learns every single heartbreaking one, but along the way she also falls hard for the damaged singer/songwriter with his over-protective disruptive need to keep her safe. But, as she fights with and then fights for her hot n cold lover, Bria also fights the crippling knowledge that there may never be room in his heart for her too?

Wow what a spectacular story of love, grief and Crew’s emotional struggles at letting go of the destructive ties that bind him to his doomed first love.. to finally embrace a future with his forever love. Because it’s the sizzling symbiotic close singer/songwriting relationship between himself and Bria that clicks and ignites the flames that will eventually burn through those heartbreaking ties and gave Crew the motivation to say goodbye to the past and claw his way to a future with Bria. And that takes some impressive character growth. And it’s also a heartwarming and fun introduction to the close group of friends who make up Reckless Alibi.. and the manipulative villains behind the scenes cloaked in Record Label suits and skirts.

Worth a credit? Well now hummm let me think?... DUH, NO OF COURSE I DON’T NEED TO THINK it’s a YES absolutely. This ticked every - single - box.. and then created more with the heated angst, weighty dialogue, range of feels, sexy scenes, cast of colorful characters, climactic anticipation, passion-fuelled romance and delicious narration.. love you Erin - but LOVE you Jason ;). And now I can’t wait to hear more from these Reckless Rockstars as they hit it big.

I’m not really a rock chick, for me music died when Bananarama broke up 🤪🍌🍌🍌 but I did love this story and the songs within it are amazballs. You will not regret using a credit on this book.📚 Samantha Christy knows how to write an angst ridden love story this one is no exception.

Another emotional but amazing ride by Samantha! The narration is off the charts! Erin and Jason were great in their roles that requires singing. Definitely a must listen!

Not quite a tearjerker but close.

If you have read Samantha Christy before then you know that her heroes/heroines have tragic and traumatic pasts and this one is no exception. Crew is simply going through the motions until he meets Bria and everything changes. They are now co-lead singers in a band and falling hard and fast for each other. As is typical for Christy’s novels there is still so much healing, acceptance, forgiveness and general growth that must happen before they can find their HEA, but rest assured they do find it. Jason Clarke and Erin Mallon are absolutely brilliant bringing all the hurt, emotion, sexiness and even SINGING to make this a five-star listen. It can be emotionally tough to listen to some parts but totally worth it in the end.

Could’ve been....

This was my first book by this Author. Reckless Obsession wasn’t a complete bust, but could’ve easily been a 4 star because it had so much potential, but unfortunately it fell flat for me.

One being I never connected with either MC‘s because there relationship was Non-existing. There was no chemistry or relationship buildup between them. The reason I think that was, is because the book focused more on Abby and Crew’s relationship rather then Crew and Bria relationship. Then there was the sex scenes which were nothing to rave about. I was at least hoping those would be hot and I could connect with them in that way, but that didn’t happen either...It went from Crew seeing Bria when opening up for another band to boom “ we’re now in a relationship”. No flirting, no comments on how Bria makes Crew feel. Just a whole lot of nada!

On a positive note...the story did keep me turning the pages wanting to know more. Not sure if I’ll continue to the next book. It’s something I will have to think about.

Awesome!

Love this story so much. The unrolling of the backstory keeps you *there* all the way through. The hard parts hurt and great parts soar. Love how the story builds fully dimensioned characters that you want to find their way together. Thought the cameos from last series were well dropped, a fun bonus for readers Ms. Christy’s prior series but not a detractor from this being a first choice. Just love it!

Narrators were great. Fit the story well!

Ending seem abrupt

The story line was just ok. The ending came and it felt like there should be more chapters….it just ended. Usually Samantha Christy story lines have a little more suspense and drama to them.

An emotional journey with top notch narration

Do you love rockers? Well Samantha’s written a whole band of them and this is Book 1 in that series. It is Crew and Brea’s story. Crew is such a tortured soul and trying so hard to outrun his past. He connects with Brea but continues to push her away because of his previous experiences. Brea is patient to a point but just wants to be able to love Crew.

This is a plot driven book with a little heat but that isn’t the guts of this story.

I did enjoy the book and the narration was top notch. Erin and Jason are both so great at what they do. They really gave us all the sides of Brea and Crew. We were drawn into their heads and I just wanted these characters to get to where they could live and love with peace in their hearts.

A great start to a series which I will be sure to revisit.
