Publisher's Summary

A third of the world's population are cursed to become werewolves on the full moon, and walled cities like Seattle protect the Clean Bloods. People like Detective Daria McQueen protect the gates of the city to stand against the packs of wolves, three nights a month.

When Daria discovers a breach in the wall while on her patrol, and saves a family from infection by three hungry wolves, Daria herself is saved by a wolf hunter she had believed to be nothing but an urban legend: the Red Hood, Maireni Damaschin. The mysterious woman in a red cloak seems to possess inhuman abilities.

Daria and Maireni find themselves caught in a tangled web of deception that goes back centuries, which could spell the end to Clean Bloods and throw the world into servitude.

Loved it!

Not the typical Little Red Riding Hood story you heard as a child. The big bad wolf is actually a werewolf! Red Hood has been tracking the wolf all over the planet trying to stop him and the werewolf curse. Red Hood and Detective McQueen partner up, in more ways than one, to stop the curse.

As always, Erik creates suck likable characters, and Hollie makes us fall in love with them! Beautifully written fairy tale of werewolf hunting and love!

My What Big Eyes You Have

If you could sum up Red Hood - The Hunt in three words, what would they be?

Emotion, Action, Humor.

an action packed story from a well known fairytale. Red Hood brings you into a different world of Wolves and Witches and Demons that plague their world with the balance tipping over to evil we find one woman that can free the world of their curse

What was one of the most memorable moments of Red Hood - The Hunt?

"you kicked a werewolf in the nuts"

hands down the funniest line ever!

BUT I would have to say and this is spoiler when the two sisters finally found each other and hugged each other. that brought a tear to my eye.

Have you listened to any of Hollie Jackson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Oh I have and all are phenomenal performances. I have been waiting for this one ever since a teaser that was released by the author weeks ago. I love how Ms. Hollie Jackson did the accents it couldn't have been easy changing accents in the middle of a scene.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

it made me do both! I laughed at the humor and cry like a child at the scene where Maireni told how she became the Red Hood. I read the book and that had made me picture the scene, but now hearing a voice that accompanies it just made the scene more powerful.

Any additional comments?

Definitely give this book a read and a listen. The book gives the story but also listening to the story unfold gives it the more realistic scene especially how the narrator did it, with different voices for each character. and by the gods that accent! I'm weak with accents!

Good Job to the Author and Ms. Hollie Jackson

Big Bad Meet Red Hood & Detective Ass Kicker

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Seattle is under siege! An unusually large and focused group of werewolves are howling at the walled city of Seattle under the full moon. Detective Daria McQueen is one of many SPD officers assigned to keep the "Clean Bloods" (people uninfected by the lupine curse) safe from werewolves every night of the full moon. She is driven year after year by the need to find her missing sister and avenge the murders of her parents by an alpha werewolf. Maireni Damaschin, aka Red Hood, drops into Daria's life under a full moon. The two women both harbor dark secrets and a thirst for justice. As the two women track a mysterious green-eyed werewolf, their sexual chemistry sizzles and their attraction for each other grows. Will they discover the lair of the beast or will humanity fall to the werewolf's curse?

Hollie Jackson delivers a solid performance as both Daria McQueen and Maireni Damaschin. The novel is told through Daria's eyes for most of the novel. When the adventure takes a twist 3/4 of the way through, the novel shifts back and forth between Daria's and Maireni's perspectives. Hollie builds suspense and anticipation of what will happen next as the women battle impossible odds, with her intuited pacing (at times quick and at others languid) and emphasis.

The brisk, yet reflective, tone and pacing of Daria's sections reflects the matter-of-fact, take no shit kind of woman that she is. As Maireni, she uses a passable Romanian-accented English that enhances the air of mystery surrounding the character's background. It's worth remembering that many years and miles have influenced Maireni's diction. Hollie also draws out Red Hood's flirty nature, which makes for a lot of fun in the scenes between Red and the Detective.

Many of the characters seem to be slight variations of each other. The main difference between Hollie's characterizations is whether the people are from the Pacific Northwest, Romania, or London, and gender of the characters. This is not necessarily a huge draw back, as there are only a few instances in which I had trouble telling who was who.

Overall, I definitely recommend this listening experience, especially to people who enjoy modern-day retellings of fairy tales, fantastical creatures, and spicy, suspenseful adventures!

What does Hollie Jackson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She adds nuance to the chemistry between Red and Daria. I also enjoyed her accents.

Who was the most memorable character of Red Hood - The Hunt and why?

Red Hood is very flirty, fun, dark, and mysterious! Loved her! I also liked the grittier, focused, down-to-earth Detective Daria. I look forward to the next installment.

Finally a Good Lesbian Led Urban Fantasy

Story concept and plot are great with a little of everything: action, heroism, tears, love, adventure, twist & steam. It’s the execution of writing and verbal delivery (a bit too much snarky teenager vibe) that are a solid average in my humble opinion. Keep in mind I just read the series for both Patricia Briggs’ Mercy Thompson & Jennifer Estep’s Elemental Assassin, which are phenomenal!

This is a really interesting twist on the fable Red Riding Hood. The characters are awesome and interesting as is the narrator and I really just want to hear more of the tale, I really hope this is a long series to come.
