Fantastic

This romance story has less steam and has more time spent in a good story. I feel Nora Roberts fans would like this book because Robert’s novels are somewhat less steamy as well. Personally I like this series because i think Feehan has great writing voice and this series has love, action and a little magic. It’s so satisfying to finish a good story by a good narrator and I’ll be yet another person in line waiting to hear the next.

Love this series!

I'm so glad to hear a Feehan story series that has excitement, characters and story line without so much sex. I love all her work but this is my favorite! And I can play it on my car even when others are listening in!

Good not great.

I’m not sure why Christine Feehan who wrote my two favorite series Shadow Riders and Torpedo Ink, both with deliciously described sex scenes, decided to eliminate descriptive sex scenes from this series? There is a middle option from describing everything to describing nothing.. it’s torture because I know she can write the scenes very very well. I loved Zale and wanted at least one scene, even if it had to be in the past. But nope. Not one. Yet I still liked the book a lot. I was often bored with the women though and frustrated with them, but it’s who they are so I had to deal. The men are always fantastic and I seem to understand their point of view more than I understand the women. For instance, if I found out that my lover was actually there to protect me, my first thought would be yay! Bonus! It would never occur to me that he set it all up to sleep with me and he was lying about caring for me for his job. And if that’s his job, let him do it! Anyway.. by the end of the book I feel that either shabina or Rayne are the next book because we basically have all the makings of their romance laid out. I just hope we get some sex in the next book! And a pregnant Stella at least.

Superb Writing

Christine Feehan has done it again, another Best seller book.
Love the storyline . Characters leap off the pages. Caring strong women characters. Dashing men who are warm caring Strong men who fall in love and not afraid to say so.
Action packed from Texas Hold-‘em, rock climbing, mountain biking , kayaking and hiking… this covers it all.
A must read book.
Love the narrator she draws you into the story till you can’t stop listening.

Worth it but an odd narrator

As a developing series, this book and it’s predecessor, Murder on Sunrise Lake, are interesting and sort of like Ghostwalkers-lite. The characters developed are an interesting bunch, and the women are complex, talented and not brainless or helpless types. This story belongs to Vienna, a surgical nurse / high stakes poker player, and her former lover/ ‘ghost’ soldier Zale. The first part is set in Las Vegas and involves a casino and a very high stakes, invitation- only poker game. The later half of the book involves several women, together for a bachelorette trip ( read Murder at Sunrise Lake) who are all into outdoor sports. The poker scenes in LV are well done, and the bouldering, trail- biking and kayaking sections are accurate without being too in-depth. I have hiked some of the Red Rock area they do and have done the kayaking trip they take, and it was correct without being to flourish-y. And of course there is murder, chase scenes, electronic bugs and cameras- everything you’d expect from a Feehan soldier book. And the sex is very discreet and kept to a minimum. ( Thank you CF.) To listen to the narrator, who speaks in a monotone and doesn’t pause between characters, I had to speed up to 1.1. Once I did that it wasn’t that painful. Altogether not a bad way to pass an afternoon or two in the garden doing yard work:)

Best book by Christne Feehan so far

This book and the first part of the series are the best books so far by Christine Feehan. I lost faith on her with the Torpedo Ink books, they are far too brutal.
Apart from that these are books without graphical sex scenes, the other books have far too many of them. can't wait for the stories of the other girls.
