Society believes the worst of Justin Alastair, the notorious Duke of Avon. But the truth is soon uncovered: Léon is a girl named Léonie and is actually the legitimate child of the Comte and his wife. While Avon is intent on his plan to reveal the Comte’s duplicity and ruin him, he is charmed by Léonie’s kindness, falls in love, and becomes a changed man.

Story
Resourceful, adventurous and utterly indefatigable, Sophy is hardly the mild-mannered girl that the Rivenhalls expect when they agree to take her in. Kind-hearted Aunt Lizzy is shocked; stern Cousin Charles and his humourless fiancée Eugenia are disapproving. With her inimitable mixture of exuberance and grace Sophy soon sets about endearing herself to her family, but finds herself increasingly drawn to her cousin. Critic Reviews
"One of my perennial comfort authors. Heyer's books are as incisively witty and quietly subversive as any of Jane Austen's." (Joanne Harris)
"Fabulously witty." (Stephen Fry)
"Once you step into her world, you won't look back." (Katie Fforde)

Classic Heyer!
I enjoyed this rendition of “Regency Buck”. The narrator did a good job with the various character’s voices. I particularly liked her portrayal of the Earl’s voice which was quite masterful!
The only irritation was the mispronunciation of the word “phaeton” …. Which really marred the telling for me.

Loved it, romance and mystery all in one!
This story is a lot of fun. Great characters, lots going on, and a nice twist to mix up the typical romance story line with a mystery as well. It feels like this was v thoroughly researched and is more of a historical novel featuring many known characters from the time - but I think this added to the appeal for me. Typically patronising overbearing hero, but he’s all right really, for the time!

Much better narration than previous version
This narration is 100% better than the previous version I have from Audible. ( I did not know I could return that one until it was too late). Never listen to it other than to see if its as bad as I thought it was!
As this is one of my favourite GH books I have been waiting for a new version to come out. I agree with some other reviews that the narrator has got some of the pronunciations wrong, (phaeton being the worst) which is VERY annoying, but overall this copy is good.
The narrator has a good voice and tone and is easy to listen to.
This book was probably one of the first GH I read, and the banter between Worth and Judith all the way through is delightful and understandably annoying to Judith. But it gives the book a constant theme that's enjoyable to follow. And when Worth shows his true colours at the end its my: always looked for happy ending. It would get a 5 rating if she had not got the phaeton correct!

A joy throughout
A hugely enjoyable Regency romp from Georgette Heyer. This one really gave the true feeling of that era with superb descriptions of dress, manners, personages and locations. As with most of her books there was huge wit and humour.
The narration by Jasmine Blackborow was excellent with each character having their own quirks. It was a joy to listen to.

The best of stories
Regency Buck is, without a doubt, my favourite Georgette Heyer romance. I have read it time without number and can’t imagine ever tiring of it. I was a bit disappointed with this audio presentation, but the strength of, and my love for, this story carried me through to the end.
