Great relationships don't happen by accident - they take commitment, hard work, and GRIT!

Best-selling author Jon Gordon is back with another life-affirming book. This time, he teams up with Kathryn Gordon, his wife of 23 years, for a look at what it takes to build strong relationships. In Relationship Grit, the Gordons reveal what brought them together, what kept them together through difficult times, and what continues to sustain their love and passion for one another to this day. They candidly share their mistakes, decisions that almost destroyed their marriage, and successes so you can learn from their experiences and make your relationship stronger.

If you’re a fan of Jon Gordon's work, you will enjoy learning about the man behind the message, as he and Kathryn share the intimate details of their life together. The direct, transparent, and personal style will draw you in and help you see that, if you are dealing with a challenge in your life and relationship, you are not alone. Working, writing, and raising children hasn’t always been easy for the Gordons, but by committing to one another and embracing the principles of G. R. I. T., they emerged from their darkest moments and built a deep and lasting love. In Relationship Grit, they speak candidly about what they have learned and how you can develop the grit to build beautiful relationships.

Helpful if you’re in a rocky spot

This book is really written for people who are in a rocky relationship. I was hoping for there to be more for people who are already in happy relationships on strengthening and deepening. This book also has a HEAVY leaning on religion, so if that’s not your cup of tea this maybe isn’t for you.

Vulnerable stories told with honesty and grace

I was hooked when I found out early in the book that Kathryn and I were born in the same city (actually, the same hospital)! It takes real vulnerability to put your personal life and marriage out there in the world. Kathryn and Jon did it with honesty, grace, and ease while authentically sharing would so many of us would prefer to keep hidden from others. Sharing our stories and lessons, though, is what leads to collective healing.

One of my favorite tips was the idea of team meetings. While I can't help but feel like our family has missed the boat as they outlined them, the suggestion gave me renewed incentive to make sure that our family dinners (which are becoming numbered!) include this focused time together.

While all of their tips were good, Kathryn's "shared vision" and Jon's "shared mission", spoke to me the most at this time in my marriage. It was the extra push I need to continue to work on this in our relationship. Relationship Grit is a book that I'll likely listen to over and over.

Helpful and insightful

This book was exactly what I needed. I’m going to buy a hard copy to read with my Wife. The book had the perfect combo of personal stories and helpful hints to help in your own marriage. The stories were interesting and I enjoyed learning more about Jon and Kathryn. This was an easy read!
