fair in theory, poor in execution

Being someone in an open/poly relationship, I always look for ways to better educate myself in manners of best approaching difficult situations in relationships and wanting to better the connections I have with people overall.

Because this was a 2 in 1 that covered topics important to this, I figured it was worth the purchase: which ended up being both true and untrue; True because it saved the cost of buying two books, untrue because had I bought one, I'd likely had not bought the other.

The reason I say this is because while there are some great points, ideas and suggestions in these books, it does feel at Times that the author was padding things out more than providing actual content; the jealousy workbook being the more guilty of this than the relationship book because it seemed that many of the chapters repeated a lot of the same things over and over in each chapter that only made slight deviation from the chapter before it and only occasionally provided new or relevant material to the topic at hand.

There were also sections that provided virtually no information whatsoever and basically came down to "these are what these things are, work out if it's for you or not" and not really describing ways of how to interact with those situations.

Don't get me wrong, there is some genuinely helpful sections in there too. One in particular that I can mention is rather early into the relationship book focusing on toxic relationships and signs of it. This section pointed out a lot of things to me that I recognised from a previous relationship that focused on my ex, but to an extent myself, and how I transferred that into my next relationship. This resulted in me having a conversation with my current partner and apologising for how I acted and made things improve significantly.

I think however my biggest problem with these books is the narration. Breanna Faye have a very repetitive set of inflections in her voice that do sometimes get grating every now and then and I do wonder if I may have gained more from this if it was better narrated because there were whole sections that felt like I was missing something. Some of this also comes down to the fact that Ms. Faye stumbles over and mispronounced various words, sometimes even getting them right before the bungle, which was weird, albeit entertaining if certain words came out in a very unique fashion.

Production is sub par: It feels like this was recorded in an untreated bedroom, with various noises happening outside of the recording for almost entire chapters, chopped off word edits, unedited retakes of certain sentences without editing, an actual cough from the narrator mid chapter that wasn't cut, just to name a few. It's not riddled with them overall, but when they happen, you notice.

overall, while the concepts and ideas presented in this book may be helpful to some and at least give you some ideas, I feel that there is likely other books that will be better spent with your Time, but give this a try if you want to cover a lot of subjects over a lower price tag.
