Publisher's Summary

Mattie Carver's engagement party should have marked the start of her own personal fairy tale. But when her fiancé, Ben, is violently abducted the next morning, her desperate quest to find him rips her away from small-town life and reveals a shattering truth: magic is real - and Ben is hooked. It's not the stuff of storybooks. It's wildly addictive, capable of producing everything from hellish anguish to sensual ecstasy almost beyond human endurance.

Determined to find out who took Ben and why, Mattie immerses herself in a shadowy underworld and comes face-to-face with the darkly alluring Asa Ward, a rogue magic dealer, infamous hustler...and her missing fiancé's estranged brother. Asa has the power to sense magic, and he realizes Mattie is a reliquary, someone with the rare ability to carry magic within her own body, undetected. Asa agrees to help find Ben on one condition: Mattie must use her uncommon talent to assist his smuggling operations. Now, from magic-laced Vegas casinos to the netherworld clubs of Bangkok, Mattie is on a rescue mission. With Asa by her side, she'll face not only the supernatural forces arrayed against her but the all-too-human temptation that she fears she can't resist.

Great concept,. sexual content sometimes distracts

Yes,. I know it is urban fantasy an this genre is subject to the occasional risque scene, but the magic concept is really good with fewer dives into the sex (which one acknowledge is an aspect that has to be present). I really enjoyed as she dived headlong into this world and liked how she coped as she grasped new concepts. Carly is a great narrator and imparts personality to the individual characters. I am going to read the series to see more of this world and watch the storyline evolve.

Perfectly read and acted but...

I know it’s just me, but the ending turned out all wrong. A story of the strength of a woman’s love, misplaced on a deceptive jerk who ultimately trapped her using that love against her. The fiancé didn’t deserve her but won out anyway.

I guess I’ve seen this all too often in real life, and it always ends in disaster ultimately.

Let this be a lesson, don’t let love and the fantasy of what that love can be, blind you to the truth. Because one day you will have to face that truth, and by then it’s too late.

Side note; I won’t buy and listen to the rest of the series because, from the reviews, Mattie continues her blind naïveté refusing to open her eyes to truth. If she spent 1/2 of the effort she puts into holding onto her fantasy into Asa is would have a happy ending but she doesn’t. We read these novels for happy endings. We don’t want a pseudo non-fiction story taking us down a troubling path myself and others have seen in real life.

Reliquary Series A+

This has become one of my favorite go to Series. When I need a good read, great charaters and familiar world setting, this is home. The charaters are strong and yet have fragile edge. They come to be dependent on each other, even through slights and betrayals. #romance #Magic System #tagsgiving, #sweepstakes

Main character is a joke

This girl is literally the most helpless main character ever. She complains about everything, makes terrible decisions, is only focused on how sexy the men in the story are, and only relies on whatever the men tell her to do, and not in a sexy dominance sort of way, just cringe worthy. The “sex scenes” aren’t even sexy so I wouldn’t call this a romance or a fantasy. Just boring.

Mixed feelings

I ended up liking the book, but it started off pretty badly and I almost gave up. I didn't care about any of the characters until Asa came into the picture. The main character is a bit of a dummy, and she sticks with her fiance even though he lies to her and manipulates her. I just wanted to smack her, and it continues into the next book. However, Asa makes up for the other characters, and I'm now awaiting the third book to be released. Both books follow Mattie and Asa as they try to pull off dangerous transactions in the magical world with a range of other people out to get them. They build a relationship as they learn to trust each other.

Harry Potter meets 50 Shades

I give it a solid "not terrible" review and say that for a "sale" book I got what I paid for. There was enough action in the plot to keep me going but not enough to read it again. The story had an intriguing premise but often spilled over into Hogwarts territory and the S&M stuff was kind of over the top. If thatʻs your thing, maybe youʻll enjoy it but that put me off when I tried to read 50 Shades of Gray. The book might have also been better if the performer could do a decent accent and her male voices didnʻt all sound like old crones.

Undecided.

I really enjoyed the storyline however I have mixed feelings about Maddie. When she finds out her fiancé used magic to to manipulate her she just conceded in the end. The author tried to make her fiancé Ben seem like a great man but he was selfish and manipulative. It takes away from the book and the main character Maddie when there are so many inconsistencies. I feel character development is just as important and this book definitely lacks this with 2 of the main characters however Asa the H is well done. I read reviews on the second book and there seems more of the same so I not sure if I want to invest time and money.

Perfect Characters and Plot

This series was so unique that it has ruined all other books for me. The female lead is a normal woman, not a wannabe badass. The male lead is not a buff handsome beautiful eyed man. He isnt flirty or seductive that drags on. Instead it's a normal girl becoming friends with an emotionally damaged guy that turns into a beautiful relationship. It's perfectly erotic with the sexual scenes and perfectly romantic in their friendship scenes. Best leadimg characters ever! The plot is also super unique without any plot holes. I have never stalked an author as much as I do this one because of this series.

Well written.

I'm generally not one who likes supernatural type books because of them being way too far fetched, that being said, I loved this book! The way it was written made it seem believable. The authors did a wonderful job. I'm now on book #2 "splinter", and am going to listen to "mosaic" after.
Its narrated well also.

What did I just listen to? Odd, but I got hooked.

So, I'm still not quite sure exactly what the author started out to do, I found the 1st few chapters a little hard going, found the lead character a little hard to relate to, but honestly I listened to this book in one go and about to start on the next. I started this book thinking it would be the usual mind "chewing gum" supernatural stuff I usually do chores to, but really I'm hooked.

Thank you Sarah

At last a new fantasy series for the older than YA crowd! This series a great find and an action fueled adventure romp. The characters are interesting and the story moves along at a good clip. The reader does a good job of bringing the story to life, unfortunately she has pretty much only one "male" voice which she uses for all the characters and it sounds like an aged grandma with a 40 a day habit. This is obviously not ideal for romantic heroes etc, but if you can get past it the story is fun.

Maybe not so predictable

Wondered how the 2nd book could be even nearly as great as the 1st but I shouldn't have worried it was awesome and not as predictable as I thought it might have been
The narrator really hooked me in and kept me relating pressing the stop button!!
