Publisher's Summary
With the same wicked humor and delicious charm that have won her millions of devoted fans, Sophie Kinsella, author of the number one New York Times best seller Shopaholic & Baby, returns with an irresistible new novel.
When 28-year-old Lexi Smart wakes up in a London hospital, she’s in for a big surprise. Her teeth are perfect. Her body is toned. Her handbag is Vuitton. Having survived a car accident, Lexi has lost a big chunk of her memory, three years to be exact, and she’s about to find out just how much things have changed. Somehow Lexi went from a 25-year-old working girl to a corporate big shot with a sleek new loft, a personal assistant, a carb-free diet, and a set of glamorous new friends. And who is this gorgeous husband - who also happens to be a multimillionaire?
With her mind still stuck three years in reverse, Lexi greets this brave new world determined to be the person she...well, seems to be. That is, until an adorably disheveled architect drops the biggest bombshell of all. Suddenly Lexi is scrambling to catch her balance. Her new life, it turns out, comes complete with secrets, schemes, and intrigue. How on earth did all this happen? Will she ever remember? And what will happen when she does?

I'm Married?! To Whom?! When?!
This book reminds me of the "Jane Austen Addict" story line: girl wakes up in a body and life she doesn't remember and has much work to do getting her mind and life back together. Sophie Kinsella is fun. I just finished "Can you keep a secret?" It was my first by her and I thoroughly enjoyed it and decided to try some others. Her books are nice bubble gummy good and require no effort. This one is a bit different, pink, chewy and sweet but at its heart is a very serious matter. Young women in search of husbands would do well to pay attention. I took a quick dislike to the rich handsome Eric Gardener. A man just doesn't treat the woman he loves the way he treated Lexi. Eric Gardener joins a line of fictional characters who are not in my good graces such Mr. Huntington in "The Tenant of Wildfell Hall" by Anne Bronte; Tito in "Romola" by Mary Ann Evans (George Eliot); Mr. Weymyss in "Vera" by Elizabeth von Arnim; St. John Rivers in Charlotte Bronte's "Jane Eyre" and Captain Aylmer in Anthony Trollope's "The Belton Estate". These kinds of men are captivating, engaging, controlling, selfish and can be very dangerous. I call Vera as my prime witness. Girls, if you meet any of these gentlemen, beware. I have a general expectation of fluff from Ms. Kinsella, all hot fudge on Dutch chocolate ice cream with no thinking involved just delightful and restful. It took me a couple of chapters before I figured out we were in new territory. While by no means as dark as "Vera" or "The Tenant of Wildfell Hall", I think the author did an exceptionally fine job of treating a difficult subject in an inviting, humorous to say nothing in a quite accessible manner. Rosalyn Landor did a workmanlike job narrating.

Level of enjoyment: Eh...
Normally I love all the Kinsella books no matter which series. This one however just didn't do it for me. While I giggled in a few spots, I had nowhere near the normal amount of laughs I get from Kinsella's hapless characters. Maybe it's just that it wasn't that new of an idea since we have here in the US the awful Samantha Who on tv, but I found the book rather predicatable.
Diehard Kinsella fans will probably give it a listen out of loyalty/curiousty but if you are new to this normally great author, try another book first.

Worth Remembering?
It's not a bad book, but it's not nearly as good as her other books, Can you Keep a Secret?, the Shopaholic series, etc. I was uncomfortable with the premise the romance that Lexi had. I know it's chick lit fantasy, but losing your memory and having a husband you don't remember, along with friends who for some reason hate you. Then there's her family who have some big issues that Lexi doesn't understand. In typical chick lit fashion it does get resolved with some twists and turns, which are pretty fun and empowering, but I'm still not digging the whole romance for Lexi angle, I don't think that's positive for women, not to mention my wife was like EH? when we got into Lexi's romance.
It's a solid book if you like Sophia Kinsella, and it's got some humor, but it's a pretty big step down from her other books, and I'd recommend those before diving into this one.

Hard to latch onto
I usually really enjoy this author, but I found the characters in this one profoundly unlikeable. Even the central character didn't grow on me until the final few chapters. The narrator didn't seem quite right either. Seemed much older and posher than the central character and it belied belief when the main character is talking about who she is and it sounds NOTHING like what you would imagine. I held on, only because I have really truly enjoyed other books by this author, but wow-- it was really tough for me. The main character was borderline stupid. If there was a relatable reaction or an utterly inane reaction- you can guarantee the utterly inane reaction. I understand it makes for tension and suspense (for some) but there are more clever ways to go about it, and this, sadly, was not clever. Maybe I was just so incredibly relieved, but I did enjoy the end, when the main character gets it together, and everyone around her (mostly) gets a bit more depth to their otherwise incredibly two dimensional portrayals of horrible people. Wouldn't recommend overall.

Liked the Storyline. Hated the Language.
The overall storyline of the book is good. However, the foul language is excessive. Most of the typical swear words are used. The f-word is used frequently. I like to listen to my books while I drive in the car with my children. This is one book that I am not able to do that with because of the foul language.
(This was reviewed by a woman, not a man as indicated. A man would probably think the storyline is ridiculous.)

A bit too silly
Look I know SK novels are always a bit too silly but this one was just too silly. It did get better about 10 chapters in but I nearly gave up. It was frustrating & the jokes really were not funny. Didn’t really enjoy it as much as her other books. Narration was good although most male voices sounded the same.
