Yep, needed this book a few times...

I am one cat away from being a cat lady, lol. I have two and that is the limit for a cute, single, professional lady. I've also had my fair share of cycle of life experiences and they have sucked immensely. The most recent was just weeks ago. The author beautifully describes the process of emotional and physical grief which I liken to "memories are made sweeter when you can remember with smiles rather than tears". I don't remember where I read that but it stuck. The other stages of preparing and supporting hit home for me like a bullseye. A huge thank you to the author for making this lovely resource available.

Supportive

My fur baby is getting up there in age. He turned 14 this year. As painful as it is to even think about, I know one day the time will come to say goodbye. Grieving is something that everyone deals with in their own way but it’s never easy for sure. This was a great audiobook to prepare me for that dreadful moment. I love the way this author shared her personal experience’s. This is a great resource to pet owners.

Comfort when you need it most

The grief of losing a pet is like no other. These little critters make such an imprint on our hearts that when we lose them, we feel like we have lost a part of our soul. I have cried harder over the loss of a pet than I have over the loss of a family member many times. The worst part is that as an animal lover who will always have dogs in my life, I know that this is a pain that I will have to endure again and again. But, this book has given me a whole new perspective on things. I now know that what I feel is how I'm supposed to feel and that I am in no way alone in my pain. I will keep this book at the ready and the next time I am forced to face the passing of a furry friend I will have it as a way to help me through it.

Very useful info!!

I have an aging dog and as much as it pains me to think about it, I’m trying to prepare myself for her passing. This book has useful information on practical things like getting ready to euthanize your dog and what to do with your pets body if it passes at home. It was very thoughtfully written with the author sharing her own personal experience of loss. She stresses that everyone grieves in their own way and you should never feel ashamed of your sadness. I feel much more prepared for when that time comes. Thank you!

Goodbye to my best boy

Greif - we all experience it in different ways...yet overall, it's much the same. This is a a wonderfully humanizing book to help you or your loved ones with the grief after the loss of a pet. I have found there are many resources for dealing with the loss of a loved one, but yet there are not as many resources for the loss, for most of us, of our best friend. Talking to and dealing with non-pet owners after this traumatic life event is sometimes difficult as they just don't "get it". I can assure you C. Jeffery Does.
This book is written with a compassionate heart and can really help as the author just gets it. One of the best parts was chapter 5: "Helping your family through the loss" as it's a difficult time for parents dealing with the loss of a pet AND then also trying to reassure and help your children through the loss. Kudos to the author for putting this in as I'm sure it will help even more people in the long run!
All in all I'm happy to recommend this book to friends and family and indeed other listeners on this platform.

For all pet parents

Losing a pet is never easy. From the first time we had to say good-bye to my first goldfish (as a child) to saying good-bye to my first dog (as an adult), it was gutwrenchingly painful. This book really steps you through all the emotions during these difficult moments. There were so many aspects to pet grief in this book that I didn't even consider - like how we're not the only ones who will grieve, but our friends will too. Very eye-opening, helpful, and highly recommended.

Very helpful hearing the 8 stories from grieving owners. Great inclusion of the guiding children through the loss. Finally it’s healing to help others going through a similar loss. Thanks for sharing.

Learn to live again

Grief inevitably changes you. You cry, you curse, you reminisce and cry some more and still, you find that your beloved pet is not with you. I could have used this book three years ago when I lost Max, but even today, even though I am not in the throes of raw and fresh grief, I found this book refreshingly practical. Thank you for writing it.

Fantastic resource for heart healing!

Losing a pet you love dearly can be as hard as losing a family member - I know that sounds cliche, but it is absolutely true. The grief, sadness, and emptiness that lingers around the house is daunting.

Luckily this book provides some easy to apply techniques to help the grieving process and make things a bit more easy for healing after losing a furry friend. Remember all the good times and keep your chin up.

The narration quality is also great which keeps the book engaging and easy to listen to. Overall super happy to have listened through!

A Powerful Resource to Help You Cope With Loss

I wish had this audiobook 20 years earlier. It would have helped me tremendously as I struggled with losing our beloved dogs growing up.

Losing a pet is always going to be heartbreaking, but having this book makes it so much easier to handle the grief.

I really appreciate the perspective shifts - thinking about what your pet would want you to do, knowing you're not alone, and forgiving yourself for everything.

Listening to this audiobook really helped me pull me out of the darkness. I still miss them like crazy, but this book helped bring me back into a life of light, love, and happiness. Just like our furry family members would want!

A panacea for the heart

I recently lost my cat to an accident.

After years of unconditional love from him, I found myself without him, and I suffered greatly.

This book helped me ease the pain of the loss, giving me comfort and consolation.

I recommend it to anyone who is suffering as I suffered.

For all lovers of pets

This is a well-written, heart-felt book that guides you through the loss of your pet. I was one of those people that the author talks about that was more upset about the loss of her pet than I was at the loss of losing a relative. My grandmother was on her death bed, and we were expecting her death any day and then my mom died unexpectedly. I didn’t have time to mourn the loss of my mom because I was keeping vigil by my grandmother bedside. After my grandmother died, I was numb. Then 3 weeks later, my devoted pet died, and my world fell apart. To lose the constant companionship of my beloved furry friend was life shattering. I wish I would have had this book back then. I felt so much guilt for how much more I was grieving my pet than my dear relatives. I am sure the compounded loss played a role in how severe my grief was, but had I read a book like this back then, I would have been assured that my pet loss grief was normal. No pet lover wants to think about the loss of their pet, yet we all will have to face that day when it comes. Then is a superb book to have on hand. Get one for yourself and give one to a pet-loving friend.
