A dead man walks into a police station. He tells a tale - bizarre as it is grotesque - of kidnap and organ harvesting. John Baden's story of being held prisoner for 12 years sounds far-fetched - but it's all about to get much, much stranger. DI Ben Westphall has been given the case because of his background in MI6. Just superb… again….
The DI Grimm series won me over from the very first line of the very first novel…. I feel invested in these characters and am so pleased to have found this author, this narrator and this series… The settings, the personalities and the storylines are intriguing and only build upon my devotion to them after each… I have relistened to each a few times over and just cherish them all. A narrator can make or break a audiobook for me (well-written or not) and Mr. Parsons does such an incredible job of bringing these characters to life…

A fantastic series
I started reading the Harry Graham novels a few months ago the writing is of course superb, but the humor in it makes me at least laugh out loud of course it’s all serious but the interactions of the detectives and their interactions with a book makes you think that it’s a really special series of books. They are not glory depressing etc. you’re in for a treat meeting Harry Graham and Aubrey Parsons is no rations just change the voices are very astonishing.

I love this series
I'm flying through this series. I love the characters. I think I've said that in almost all my reviews of the books in this series. I keep coming back for more about, Harry, Jaden, Matt, Liz, Jim, Fly and Rachel. Small town mysteries. This one has an edge of a ghost story to it.
Harry may have made his decision on whether or not he's going to stay in Wensleydale.
The end is kind of a cliffhanger, but I have the next book ready!

Another good book in the series
The author further develops characters doctors that have appeared in most of his previous novels. He also continues to develop , The setting as a one of the major characters. It brings to life everything theverything there there continues to be struggles with some differentiation of the different voices in the audio versions but it's difficult with all the different accents to achieve, not to mention the different genders. It's an enjoyable listen, With a good plot.

I give the books in this series a 4 or 5 rating
and, indeed. this one has a lovely , solved haunted house mystery. I like the colorful descriptions of clouds, sky, storms, fields, fells (what is a fell?) people, the new dog, small town and country Life. BUT what about the sheep?
I just listened for the 2nd and 3rd time for the answer. Two books later the sheep are mentioned- more to come, I'm sure.

Grimm by name but adorable by nature
Another charming trip to the Dales to spend time with Grimm and his colleagues. My only gripe is that I felt it was a bit short. It feels like part one of a two part story. I feel as though I have skipped a few explanatory chapters here and there🤔 But I still enjoyed it.
Oh, and it needed more fruit cake and Wensleydale cheese (other treats are acceptable).
Much as I love the writing, it's Aubrey Parsons narration that makes the books for me! Such a range of accents and tones from gravelly ex soldier, through to cut glahss ladies (spelling mistake was deliberate)and
Get the next one recorded please Aubes 😉😄

Restless Dead
I would agree with other reviewers that this isn't one of Dave Gatward's best efforts, it is a little disjointed and rushed in places impo. Having said that I still enjoyed listening to it and look forward to further books in the series. I have already reviewed the next book and it is back to a top marks listen. This one has plenty going on to keep the listener glued to their seat and although the ending is a bit sudden the book as a whole does gel. I thought Aubrey Parsons once again made a great job of the narration, as a Yorkshireman myself I can be very critical of narrators who make a mess of the accent but to me Aubrey's is spot on. Keep up the good work both of you! *****

Wonderful Wensleydale
Another fabulous book in this series, this time Harry and his brother have to decide whether to make Wensleydale their home, or go back 'down South'. There are several storylines including sheep rustling, a fatal car accident and some ghostly goings on. As always the characters are engaging, and the story is interesting and the descriptions of beautiful Wensleydale make me wish I was there. I also enjoy David's notes and explanations at the end of each book.
