Excellent Book!

Great twist on Norse mythology. I absolutely loved this book. Comedy, romance, action, and aliens! Whats not to like? In this book, the Norse Gods aren't Gods at all. They are an alien race and they're coming back to Earth for Ragnarok which is actually another race of aliens. Hollie Jackson does an amazing job with the narration.

Absolutely AMAZING

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

It would be hard not to, an awesome blend of humor scifi and romance i cant wait to see more of the series on audible

Have you listened to any of Hollie Jackson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Unfortunatly no, im definitly going to be keeping an eye out for her other performances

Who was the most memorable character of Return of the Asgard and why?

Kara stole the show for me, and i think id love to see more of her story in a prequal or series of prequals to Return of the Asgard, a character with alot of potiental

Any additional comments?

Well worth a credit keep an eye on Erik Schubach definitly an amazing up and comming author

great new series

I am so glad I gave the novel a chance. Great take on Norse mythology , with grand characters. It is wonderful to have the Valerie take centre stage, rather than the usual Odin and Thor stories. I like the blend of sci-fi, fantasy and mythology, set within modern parameters.
A few scenes made me smile and one or 2 actually made me laugh.
It isn't as funny as the iron druid series, but it definitely holds its own.
Can't wait for book 2!

Erik Shubach brings out the best in a character and does it with a dramatic flair! I loved this one and am grabbing the next in the series!

Not well met- shallow and repetitive

Would you like to spend six hours hearing Daenerys rattle off her titles?
Do you love it when every other sentence in a pirate book begins or ends with “ahoy, matey”?
Want battle described exclusively in red shirt fashion, with not a single enemy with a name?
If so, you are in luck! This is a book with no suspense, emotion, or personality.

Three things are repeated so often, you’d get alcohol poisoning doing a drinking game for any one of them:
(1) constantly saying to each other “well met, Kara” or “well met, Valkyrie”
(2) constantly rattling off titles like Kara, the Wild One, daughter of Odin, blah, blah, blah, then cheesily proclaiming “I am Valkyrie!”
(3) constantly swearing with “krothing” this and “krothing” that

Insta-love, insta-legends, practically insta-healing, Mary Sue victories, And, for tough warriors, I lost count of the number of times the h/h tear up.

I love narrator Hollie Jackson in pulpy series like Ready to Were or Ice Planet Barbarians, but she struggled here. The h/h (Kara and Kate) sound exactly the same, causing confusion. Hollie isn’t great at military scenes (the “ra!” as if it’s a military “ooh rah!” made me cringe every time). And, there’s a phenomenally bad rendition of a gang-banger.

If you are looking for good urban fantasy with LBGTQ flavor, consider:
*Wells of Sorcery trilogy by Wexler - similar YA feel, with fade to black romance, but better story
*Crimson Empire trilogy - edgier, but ultimately still more emphasis on the story than any romance
*Fallen Empire series- space opera
*Lifelike trilogy- strong gals, dystopian anime vibe (less LGBTQ and more girl power)
*Necrotech- cyberpunk with bite, this one hits hard

Female romance is so refreshing

The story was a little too short and rushed for me, but had quality adventure within it. Though the sexual desires amongst the characters were redundant (which happens way too often in queer book/movies), it was easy to ignore over time and just focus on the developing love between the two main characters.

Entertaining.

The story is entertaining but don't expect more than just a tease when you learn of a certain love interest.

loved the entire story, imagined the characters,

loved everything about it... Valkyrie, honourable warriors, a romance to make me smile.... can't wait to read part 2! Narrators voice was also a bonus... very pleasant.

Very average

Return of the Asgard was a disappointment on many levels. It was well read, but the writing was average and the story line hard to believe on any level. Not a chronological I'll be following

Fantastic start

Really great start to the Valkyrie Chronicles. It’s really quite a different and interesting variation to the Norse gods story including really interesting and likeable characters. Can’t wait to listen to the rest of the series. Really great narrator too.
