It begins in Africa. A United Nations relief team in a small village in the Congo makes an alarming discovery. An unknown force is leveling the evolutionary playing field. Men, women, and children have been reduced to a dull catatonic state. The environment surrounding them—plants and animals—has grown more cunning and predatory, evolving at an exponential pace. Story
Meet Camron Reese, a mostly normal guy, all things considered. Camron has knack for writing, although he never aspired to be an author. His style is raw, unfiltered, and open to the point that it makes listeners squirm in their seats, for various reasons. This leads him on a journey where he publishes a best seller, and shortly after, his book is turned into a movie that becomes a household name. While he is happy about the success, this is still not ideal for young Cam, who doesn't like the spotlight very much, and realizes that getting out of the city would be the best plan for him.

Half a century ago, an aberration was spotted by one of our earliest satellites, and summarily dismissed as a hardware malfunction. But it was no aberration. And no malfunction. It was an accidental glimpse of something extraordinary, and very old. Mocked for decades, the man who designed the satellite is now dead. With the system's original data firmly in the hands of former NTSB investigator Joe Rickards and anthropologist Angela Reed.

Want to learn how to really master negative self-talk? Do you want to discover how to manage your negative self-talk so you can begin to live that life you truly know you deserve, without having to make drastic changes, even if you’ve struggled up to now for months, maybe years? The author, in his younger days, suffered from anxiety and thought very differently than he does today because he didn’t understand the principles provided to you in this audiobook. He often talked himself out of taking action because he was fearful of the consequences.

Publisher's Summary
Archaeologists excavating a mass grave in a historic New York City cemetery make a gruesome discovery. Stacked like cord wood are skeletal remains going back decades, but all have one thing in common: Each skull bears a hole in the exact same location.
When their friend is murdered investigating this bizarre discovery, Jake Crowley and Rose Black set off in search of the killer. Their path will take them to abandoned hospitals, hidden chambers, and into the depths of the strange world that lies beneath New York City in search of Edgar Allan Poe's secret journal.
An occult murder mystery wrapped in an action-packed thriller!

Mystery, Magic and Mayhem
Another mystery for the Jake and Rose team, this time in NYC with the expeccted links to the occult (specifically Witches) and a new take on Edgar Allen Poe which was interesting. if you enjoyed the preceeding stories, expect more of the same (including the same most excellent narration by Waters) ... with a little more of the occult and macabre. As before, this can be enjoyed on its own and has the expected satisfactory ending with just a few lose ends to setup book 4 ... so in that respect, this is a really fun series.

Interesting scenario
In this third book, our intrepid heroes attempt to vacation in New York. While you may treat this book as standalone, it is much better if you’ve listened to the prior books. Without some background, you’ll miss some of the nuances.
It also threw me a bit when this book started with a long segment about a set of historical events. It was creepy and action packed, but it takes a long, long time to figure out how it relates to the story that begins in the next chapter...
I received this audiobook for free in exchange for a review.

Another great Jake Crowley adventure / thriller!
Ex-SAS officer Jake Crowley and historian Rose Black are in New York visiting Crowley’s elderly aunt when they are caught up in serial killings which seem to stretch back for centuries. Not only are Jake and Rose in danger, but so are their nearest and dearest. This was such an enjoyably juicy mystery with a malevolent mastermind and henchmen and lots of creeping around the NY underground. The early books flirted with mystical evils and magic, but this story totally embraces them! Audio narrator Jonathan Waters has great timbre and expression. He is such a chameleon, his smooth voice moves effortlessly between the UK and US accents.

A good exciting read
A great story with lots of twists and turns, and a clever ending. Narration was good, but a little disjointed at times, and there were a couple of missed edits.
