The United States of America is falling before the armies of the dead. Leading the sole survivors of the US Army's 10th Mountain Division out of the overrun city of New York, Captain Phil Hastings heads for the safety of Fort Indiantown Gap, a National Guard training facility deep in the woodlands of Pennsylvania. Story
It’s been a rough time for Gus Berry. He barely survived the city of Annapolis as its population underwent a violent transformation, leaving everyone he knew or loved either dead or undead. Things aren’t much better now, though. In fact, things might have become much worse. Living off the land, foraging for food, water, even medicine, and being able to adapt to a changing environment…it all takes a special individual, with an exceptional skill set and determination to survive. Gus Berry is not that individual.

It began, as big events often do, with small things — a little girl, a little dog, and a microscopic virus that leads to a tragedy no one should ever have to face. Having lost his daughter to rabies, Dr. Aaron Pickman tries to derive some meaning from her death. In his search for a cure, he unleashes a virus that will bring the world to its knees. Story
Having survived what felt like an impossible journey, Maddy Whitmore and Bryce Carter discover that there is no time to rest. Not only is New York still slated for nuclear annihilation, they are hounded by demons more horrible than anything they’ve yet encountered. Virtual armies of undead, using a “collective mind”, lay siege to the Federal Building, and the two are forced to their new and astounding limits just to survive. Yes, they’ve grown stronger and faster, but so have their opponents who will do anything to destroy them.

This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang but a scream. In the remote mountains of Northern Alaska, Dr. Riley Middleton and her team of archeologists discover a burial site containing mummified remains dating to the last ice age. None of them notice the warning carved into the entrance or realize that the tomb had been deliberately sealed from the outside until they’ve already released a virus that turns ordinary people into murderous monsters. But there’s something even more terrifying inside...something ancient...something unspeakably evil.

A little different than usual zombie SHTF book
Guy searching the aftermath of zombie/demon type apocalypse for his wife and daughter. Cannibals also run amok. Guy partners up with a woman and a boy still searching for his family and trying to kill a zombie/demon AND stay away from the cannibals. Lot of action and also almost to much of reminiscing. But pretty good. Will get the next in the series.
