Story
Tim's plan didn't include going toe to toe with one of the most powerful men in Promethia, but he had, and he won. Wasn't winning supposed to make things easier? Instead of getting to live on easy street, Tim's victory only increased his reputation as a man who could solve problems. This time those problems had teeth. Thankfully Tim hit level 10, and once he settled on his upgraded class their newest adventure could began in earnest.

He really didn't deserve being reborn into a dog-eat-dog world as a dragon. To be fair, it’s nice to be at the top of the food chain. Now Carl just needs to learn how magic works, which monsters are safe to eat, and why his hoard is so important to him. Dealing with change is hard enough, but he has enemy dragons incoming, hostile environments, and foes constantly trying to get bragging rights by taking down a dragon.

Publisher's Summary
Some people just knew how to go out in style. Tim had never been one of those guys.
Tim was always a planner. The plan was to get into college, graduate, and find a well-paying job.
That plan was coming together nicely until he saw a presentation to get paid to play The Etheric Coast. At his graduation ceremony.
After watching the company's employee recruitment video, Big Richie's words had a whole new meaning. He could spend his life going from a cubicle at work to a one-bedroom apartment and back again...or he could take a leap of faith by entering a virtual world of unlimited possibilities. And get paid.
Now he just has to figure out how to get the job of his dreams, help his parents financially, and catch the attention of the girl of his dreams.
It was time for him to catch his wave. Tim sure hoped it didn't kill him first.

This got worse the longer it went on.
Where to start...
I think the least offensive thing this book did that irritated me was how preachy it is. Both authors would see fit to randomly completely take you out of the story to espouse issues of morality. Completely out of place from the narrative, Tim would just randomly go on spiels internally on his thoughts regarding women, the justice system, schooling etc and he'd babble on about it for a couple of minutes before returning to what was actually happening... he'd do this more than once too, just in case - god forbid - you forgot his incredibly unimportant opinions on a subject.
More irritating is his inconsistent character. He'll go from driven and spikey one second to mousey and ditzy the next. It feels like the two authors had two different ideas for the same characters.
Fight scenes are just awful. This ties into the first complaint about the unrelated tangents, but you'd be in the middle of a fight scene only to veer off and listen to him monologue about something stupid like frat parties or pancakes. Also, despite how driven and desperate to succeed he supposedly is, you'll often find him acting like a deer in the headlights and accepting death when the authors seem a situation life threatening.
Worst of all has to be the dialogue though. This reference may be a bit insider baseball, but all the dialogue sounds like the actors hired by video game companies to stimulate discord chat while gaming. It's so fake. People don't talk like that. It constantly rips you out of the moment.
If you get banter wrong, I don't think there's coming back from it. It's arguably the most important aspect of whether a book is relatable for me.
I'll definitely not be continuing with this series.

Honestly Refreshing
So this is a long book and picked it up on whim I saw no reviews or anything and I didn't get this book free to review it i have something like 300 books and don't generally leave reviews so here's my unbiased thoughts
Overall this book is similar to Alpha Test the MC isn't a white knight and chose the healer class but not a Mary Sue in my opinion he has his own depth and personality along with a darker side all people have a darkness in them none of us are perfect its about being honest with yourself your desire and what your willing to where to draw that line for what you aspire to do and how far you will push the author made him relatable not an op monster but someone who put effort into his growth his back story is fleshed out enough to understand him and where he is in life the additional characters are decently fleshed out without overwhelming detail i personally loved that the MC had a life partner i do like and listen to harem books but this isn't one and honestly I can't get behind books without any sexuality no matter the flavor its human nature and was tastefully done the story has everything you could expect the hero the villain the friendship and the hardship but the hardship isn't the soul crushing awful most authors place their MC in so thumbs up for not being a sadist I'm all for hardship but hate books where the poor guy can't catch a break and ends up in the depth of despair every other chapter the villain has his own point of view and is well done the story takes unexpected turns and I couldn't directly plot out what was going to happen next so it kept things lively unlike most books where you can basically tell where its going off the bat so great work loved the book Sean did great hope to see more of your work and listen to it

Boring
This book had potential. It had a nice set up and some interesting characters. However this book relies on tropes to distract from how uninteresting the world actually is. It became pretty clear after the introduction that this book has some major issues. The story progresses at a snail's pace, the world and characters are paper thin, and the narrator is horrible at doing a womans voice. Now there are other things that get on my nerves, like the fact he picks the "worst" starting area and ends up with the biggest advantage. But ya know what, I'm gonna save you the trouble and tell you to save that credit for something better.

teenage boy wish fulfillment story
this MC was whiny, inconsistent, and his personality was down right irritating. this novel also focused way too much on the very quick, shallow, and badly written romance instead of focusing on the game, the worlds, or anything like character growth. I didn't like the girl much though she was tolerable on her own, but it got so bad that I started skipping any time the two were together and eventually, I just gave up, which is a first for me with an Anderle novel. his novels are pulp fiction rather than serious lit but they are usually fun and quite readable. not sure what happened here.
if I was a fifteen year old boy I might have liked it better.

so mostly is your standard wish filament fantasy game lit, bot actually trash but nothing too special except tim that boy is hella dumb i mean wow this giy is supposed to be a poor kid making it good but he lacks of the street smarts and self awareness of someone that had to scrape and climb their way up. this kid is a complete mary sue and I can only assume self insert. he doesn't really earn any of his big wins its just item get hot girlfriend check magic powers check money check the thing i loved was when i would roll my eyes knowing Tim was about to fuck up and then watching him do it. but honestly his jist to much of a whining simp.

Entertaining, but too many inconsistencies to be d
I actually did find this somewhat entertaining despite what will follow. I won't be continuing this series and here is why.
The MC works hard, but he is so cringe worthy as to make everything else cease to matter. He constantly uses the most profound verbiage he can without any idea what it means. For example reminiscing on yesterday like it is ancient history, offering advice to others when he is clueless, and pretending everything that happens is the most important event anyone will ever witness. Plus, despite this game being a major release for a big company, to the point they are recruiting on college campuses, there are only a few players in the game. There is a mention of like 20 other people at the start, but they are never heard from again.
Finally, there is a big issue which any potential readers need to be aware of. It took me a while to identify, but the phrase "great white hope" perfectly describes the MC. He is clueless, but wants to revitalize the slums because only he can do it. He assumes everyone will love him for it. He pretty much does whatever he wants with no thought or consequences because deus ex. Even to the point where the gods literally save him from his decisions.
If you are a young adult with no life experience outside of living in a box, you may be able to relate to this, otherwise read something else.

lots of fun
really enjoyed the world building, the characters, and questing aspects. Cool to see some area building as part of the longer story, and also the length of the story as well is a great change to shorter audiobooks in the genre. lighthearted but genuine, narration is enjoyable and voices bring other characters to life. I'm interested and excited to see how the story continues as they level up and face new challenges! when's audiobook 2 out!?

it was ok, then the morality lessons started
decent book, premise of the contract and time dilation software was a bit shaky though... And then the morality preaching started. The interruptions of the morality flexes (such as don't drink and drive, rape is bad etc), despite being reasonable and agreeable in isolation, just resulted in the flow of the story being damaged. you could remove each section of morality and the book will become distinctively more enjoyable as a whole despite the classic LitRPG tropes.
I'm sorry that the narrator had to go through narrating that, considering how good of a job he did for the book.
