Don't waste your time on this one.

I enjoyed the first two books so purchasing the third seemed like a great idea. I had to stop listening when Chloe got kidnapped. I could not handle the nonsense any longer. There are so many issues with this book. Numerous mistakes in facts and details about weapons, implausible conversations between characters ie. Cole talking to his parents about his relationship with Chloe and him insisting that he had to break up with Chloe because they are moving too fast, Cole having the ability to track a cougar and a dog (Bennie) through miles and miles of thick woods and Cole hearing a single gunshot 1/2 mile away and actually finding where the shot came from.... impossible. The first two books had a bunch of mistakes and contradictions but there were too many in this book. Mr. Newman needs to fire his editor and have someone how knows a little about weapons, realistic sniper shot distances by amateur shooters, combat tactics, the fact that people do not have long winded conversations during a firefight and that government communication bunkers do not have sky lights. I could go on and on. This book was sloppy.

Loved Joe’s Grandmas letters.

Overall I enjoyed the series with one exception. Too much killing without confirmation of who they were killing, they only assumed they were bad people then saying after the fact who they were...maybe. Shoot, ask questions later.

I liked the compound they made out of shipping containers and their family life. I grew up in Medford and know the area well, my brother lives in a cabin on Dead Indian Rd. Mostly everything was as described, with a few exceptions, probably because this is fiction. This (location) was the reason I got the series.

I look forward to the next series but hope there isn’t so much “shoot, ask questions later” type killing.

I wish this wasn't the last one!

Such a great series! I would highly suggest this to everyone who likes dystopian books. there is even teen drama for those who like Hunger Games or the like.

What happened here?

I really enjoyed the series until this book. The idea of Grandma planning ahead for SHTF and leaving that legacy to her grandson first by her Will, then in the form of letters of encouragement, secret maps and words of wisdom is something that really appealed to me as a very clever writing tool.
Joe too was a very appealing character. He was likable and normal, the average guy trying to survive and help people.
However somewhere in the first third of this book, the characters started to act, well, out of character. Joe went from helpful to hard without any real transition. Chloe became timid. Then not timid. Then timid again. It was weird! I had to keep backing up the book to re-listen to scenes to make sure the characters talking were actually the ones I thought were talking.
The last part of the book jumped around like crazy. Joe became a father, then a grandfather in the blink of an eye. The people captured and flown away were just...gone. The resolution to this was a note from the author saying he was going to write a separate series about this-- and that's fine, but he needed to resolve what was happening here first!
I'm really sad to write this review, because until this book, I really liked this series a lot!

Loved this series!

Great story and I really enjoyed the characters journey. The book wouldn't be anything without the narrator. He's awesome and makes me want to listen to anything he does.

Outstanding Climax - Highly Recommend!

I was Very Pleased with the way this last Chapter in this series ended! The last chapters are not easy always for me to read because the characters are friends and leaving friends is never easy. There was unexpected twists in this book that had me forgetting I needed sleep. In fact, I intend to replay the book again tonight because it satisfied my need to have issues tied up so that I could be comfortable with this series to end. I read a lot and only a few books that ended a series made me this comfortable.

I will not tell you the story. This author did an EXCELLENT job and you deserve to read it yourself and feel as comfortable as I do now. I look forward to hearing it again tonight. The actors deserve applause as well - very pleased to HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO YOU!

Terrific Trilogy

I cannot say enough how much I enjoyed this series.

There was always action, sometimes, sadness, and the characters were quite humorous at times.

Kevin Pierce is one of the BEST narrators and Sara Morsey did her part great as well!

I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, narrator, and/or publisher.

A must read or listen

Number one thing about this series as I said in my review of audible one and that is Grandma you can never get enough of her letters of spit. fire and wisdom. The author never wavers in telling the perfect story with death, growing up pains as a person and community. You feel each and ever lost and in someway morn with the characters in the story.
Finally the trip never stops between the books and the narrator does an above average job telling the story.
So in closing I can not review this series any better than say if you are ready really ready for fun, a laugh, a cry and a very wise old grandma you need to listen or read this series.
