Story
Christy Barnett is sleeping when her aging German shepherd Molly growls into the darkness outside her bedroom. She wakes to a dim glow provided by her Kindle's screen, thankful that she had fallen asleep while reading again. The power has gone out, the world outside her window is eerily dark and silent. And Molly is weary of something that waits in the hallway, hiding in the shadows. A dark cloud has fallen over the city of Aberdeen, MD. The population disappears in an instant.

Story
A suicidal nudist strolls into traffic. An eccentric Buddhist claims he can occupy other people's bodies. All the while, whispers of a new form of entertainment blow through town. Prompted by these strange occurrences, Marty Raft, a not-so-gentle giant, investigates and discovers underground clubs peddling music that induces an out-of-body experience. Marty and a wannabe comedian, Corey, set out to prove these special frequencies are nothing more than a hoax, or at worst, a mass-drugging. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

BIG WASN'T A BIG ENOUGH WORD FOR THE BIG MAN
COLLEGE IS NOTHING BUT A SAFETY NET YOU JUMP INTO AFTER 12TH GRADE
I am about the only member of audible who listens to Steve Vernon. Most of his writing is pretty off key and seems too silly or disgusting to many. It is unfortunate that I can not recommend this book. None of the stories are awful, but none are great either. It does not help that all his recordings sound like they are produced in a drafty basement. I have now listened to everything available at audio and suggest if you are interested, start with NOTHING TO LOSE: THE ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN NOTHING

A collection of Short stories by the author
I've never read this author but I love ghost stories, so picked this one up. The stories are definitely not scary but just more urban tales. The author prefaced each story about the origins it which anthology it was part of. Good for any fan of his but I was hoping for a bit more scare
