Rex “TW” McMurtry’s perpetual singlehood wouldn’t bother him so much if all his ex-girlfriends didn’t keep marrying the very next person they dated, especially when so many of those grooms are his closest friends. He may be a pro-football defensive end for the Chicago Squalls, but the press only wants to talk about how he’s always a groomsman and never a groom. Bartender Abigail McNerny is the gal-pal, the wing-woman, the she-BFF. Abby is convinced no one on earth could ever entice her into a romantic relationship...except that one guy she’s loved since preschool.

For a bit of self-therapy, she begins to text her recently deceased mother’s phone - the only problem is that the number has been reassigned and for weeks she’s been unknowingly texting a stranger her deepest thoughts and feelings. A full-length standalone romantic comedy from USA TODAY best-selling author R.S. Grey. Beau Fortier starred in most of my cringe-worthy teenage fantasies. I met him when I was a junior in high school, a time that revolved exclusively around bad hair, failed forays into flirting, and scientific inquiries into which brand of toilet paper worked best for stuffing bras. That is, until Beau moved into the small guest house just beyond my bedroom window. A 24-year-old law student at Tulane, Beau was as mysterious to me as second base (both in baseball and in the bedroom).

Donovan and I met at a coffee shop to do the suitcase exchange. Turned out, it wasn’t just his voice that was sexy. The man holding my luggage was absolutely gorgeous, and we had an immediate spark. He got me to admit that I’d snooped in his bag and then convinced me to make it up to him by letting him buy me coffee. Coffee led to dinner, dinner led to dessert, and dessert led to spending an entire weekend together. So what did I do to repay him for his kindness? I waited until he was in the shower, then ghosted him.

Publisher's Summary
A delicious, sexy, laugh-out-loud modern romance about a newly single woman and her journey to find love again, from New York Times best-selling author Alice Clayton and debut author Nina Bocci.
Avery Bardot steps off the plane in Rome, looking for a fresh start. She's left behind a soon-to-be ex-husband in Boston and plans to spend the summer licking her wounds - and perhaps a gelato or two - with her best friend, Daisy. But when her American-expat friend throws her a welcome party on her first night, Avery's thrown for a loop when she sees a man she never thought she'd see again: Italian architect Marcello Bianchi.
Marcello was the man - the one who got away. And now her past is colliding with her present, a present where she should be mourning the loss of her marriage and - hey, that fettuccine is delicious! And so is Marcello.
Slipping easily into the good life of summertime in Rome, Avery spends her days exploring a city that makes art historians swoon and her nights swooning over her unexpected what was old is new again romance. It's heady, it's fevered, it's wanton, and it's crazy. But could this really be her new life? Or is it just a temporary reprieve before returning to the land of twin-set cardigans and crustless sandwiches?
A celebration of great friendship, passionate romance, and wonderful food, Roman Crazy is a lighthearted story of second chances and living life to the fullest.

Wish there was a sequel 😟 . The story is scintillating, the narrator, a perfect match for the story's voice. Why did it take me so long to discover these writers? Or perhaps what took them so long to team up?! They are my new Christina Lauren---- and that is saying something!

Review: Roman Crazy, by Alice Clayton & Nina Bocci
What a great book. I've read and enjoyed Alice Clayton's work already, but haven't read any of Bocci's. What I can say after reading Roman Crazy is that having them write together was a great idea. While I don't have an example of Bocci's solo work to compare, I can tell there's a seamless writing style here. I know Clayton can do well-written characters and comedy. With this book, there's some amazing setting descriptions in there too. Not sure which author's responsible for that, but I want more. Italy was brought alive in this book.
Along with the setting, the story on its own kept me turning page after page. It's the story of a second chance romance, as well as Avery finding herself. A coming-of-age of sorts after years of losing track of what made her happy. Having both these elements mixed in with the setting, the foods, and the overall atmosphere blew me away.
I'm hoping these two authors continue to work together. They seem to make a great team. Though, I'll definitely keep my eyes open for any new solo work for either author. They're both talented, and Roman Crazy is evidence enough of that.

Never really peaked.
I feel like the plot would start to peak, and then fall flat. There was a small drama at the end of the book, but the excitement lacked a crescendo.
I read a review that this book was so funny, but I didn't laugh out loud once- not even a chuckle- not sure what that reviewer thought was funny.
The narrator was really good and the book was well written, just not my cup of tea obviously. If you like sweet and simple without a lot of drama then you would probably enjoy this book. I feel like other reviewers did not appropriately represent this book and therefore my expectations were skewed.

They are just vases ;)
Well now I'm hungry!
What a fantastic trip to beautiful Rome. Transported as a tourist/artist, this adventure was close to my heart. Food, Art, beautiful places, friendships, love and passion. A self discovery as important as the one of the characters.
From the start, Avery's monologues were one of a kind, really enjoyable to listen/read. Marcelo had his passion in his mouth, like every Italian who thinks and speaks with his heart. Italian man, no need to argue, right?
Avery was careful with her feelings, hiding still inside, fighting her own insecurities and trying to make things right this time.
It's difficult to separate the mind from the heart, always.
A struggle of emotions: Leave the comfort of her past, although a comfortable lie, to live a second opportunity or maybe not a second but to get back to her dream, to the one. It will be hard. Until now she didn't realize that she left herself behind. But she wants to live and to risk it, it will be worthy ;)
I recommend this book! You'll want to escape to Rome. Be warned! ;)

I lost myself in Rome
Well. Guess who wants to go to Rome right now? Yep, me! I loved this book from start to finish, so well written and a beautiful story of second chances. The book is written in single POV, as we follow Avery as she goes to stay with her friend Daisy in Rome following a major 'indiscretion' from her husband. While in Rome she meets a past love, not just a past love, but her one true love (fate at its best). If I had the opportunity of having a love affair while abroad, I would want it to be with an Italian 'God' just like Marcello, oh that man is so swoon worthy. I adored all the characters, they all played their part meticulously in perfecting the story. While reconnecting with Marcello Avery also discovers so much about herself, she truly does 'find' herself. She does however meet a few minor problems on her journey of self discovery, leaving us with a perfect romantic read. Thoroughly enjoyable, I really did lose myself in Rome. Roll on book 2, I desperately hope it's Daisy's story.

Yawn
What would have made Roman Crazy better?
Less cliche more interesting content.
What three words best describe Randi Geddens’s performance?
She gave it a good crack. Randi's Male Italian accent was ok. Randi has a strong American accent (Not that it was an issue) I'm Australian so you can obviously notice a difference in how words are pronounced.
Any additional comments?
This is your average cliche romcom book, to point that you can sum up the plot in 5 minutes time. You know the where it is heading and know what the conclusion will be. I thought I would give this genre a go and thought that maybe this one would be different but it wasn't. Yes this a personal opinion, so many may like the light & fluffy theme but it just wasn't for me.
