Oh if only Royal was real ....

I don't know if this should be a disclaimer but I'm going to throw it out there anyways. I love this book. Like serious love. I have re read it at least three times. I have recommended it to friends, I mean I almost brag about it. I love the story, the heartbreak comes through so clearly and you just want to make it better. I loved the characters, I loved the ending because luckily, it's a good one. I'm super excited to read the next book in the series.

Now for the not so great part. I like that it's got M/F narration. I absolutely love Lorenzo Matthew's voice and it did the H justice. That being said, I wasn't thrilled about Samantha Cook. I feel like her male voices sound like they're slurring their words and have cotton stuffed in their mouth. Her regular voice was just fine though, but yeah, the male parts, not so much.

I do still highly recommend this audio book though, it's a fantastic story and everyone should listen to it.

Complete surprise

I purchased this audio based on the cover alone. It was risky. A credit is valuable and I spend mine wisely but something about the cover spoke to me. And it wasn't just the beautiful man.

Imagine my surprise when it not only turned out to be an amazing audiobook but no doubt one of my favorite of the year. I listen to 150+ audiobooks a year and this was one of my favorites. All based on a cover.

Samantha Cook and Lorenzo Matthews are new narrators for me, I think but I will purposely seek their names now. Lorenzo had the perfect Royal deep, gravelly smokers voice and Samantha did a great job portraying not only her female character but her male counterpart as well.

I don't like giving reviews with plot details, I will say that Royal was a deeply disturbed man living with regret and severe self loathing. Avalon is a woman that is living her life making choices that she thinks are choices she should make. Not living to her authentic self. Together they will make or break their futures.

I will come back to listen to this audio over and over again. Well worth a precious credit!!

Broken, Damaged But Breathtakingly Beautiful!

All the positive reviews are spot on abut this audio! I LOVE It!

This was my first Victoria Ashley story and not only did she impress me with her writing style and how she keeps the listener in suspense, but she blew past all my expectations. Royal Savage is enthralling, gripping, and shocking and evokes a whirlwind of emotions. It's always the damaged characters who love harder, protect fiercer and seek revenge that make me hopelessly helpless not to fall in love with them. Royal is such a character who's story was not always easy, but it gripped me, had my heart aching, but the chemistry, love and romance between him and Avalon had my heart soaring.

Some Spoilers;
For the past two years, Royal has been filled with anger and pain after suffering a heart-breaking tragic loss and is left with feelings of guilt for not being able to stop it. As he goes about life, he's a shell of the man he once was and is consumed with the need for revenge against those who have taken everything from him, that is until Avalon comes in his life.

When Avalon first lays eyes on Royal, she's a little terrified and in awe of this big gruff, sexy tatted up man whose piercing eyes reflect pain. She soon learns Royal is the brother to the guy she has been currently dating, and is appalled when she sees how he and is family treat Royal. The more time she spends and learns about Royal, the more she is determined to be there for him when he is ready to move on.

I love discovering narrators I've never heard before and Samantha Cook and Lorenzo Matthews performance was a breath of fresh air. This duo did a great job with the characters, emotions and brought the story to life. I would definitely listen to either of these narrators in the future.

A well-rounded emotionally charged story with lot's of drama, spice, action, and a heart warming HEA. Well worth every minute, credit or sale! If you liked T.M. Frazier's King, then you may want to consider adding Royal Savage to your audio library.

WELL SHITTTTTT!!! THAT WAS A BIG WOWWWW

I want to break down and cry but I'm too wound up to do it. This book is an emotional SOB . I want to listen again but I'm so drained it scares me. If you think you can! You Can. Get It.

OH MY HEART!

This book will grip your heart and squeeze it..hard! I loved every second of this story. The narration was stellar! Royal and Avalon are so good together it's sinful. What a wild ride..and the twist towards the end of the book - OMG! This is so worth the price of admission. Do not miss it!

I loved the story (writing) and the narrators nailed it! Royal Savage is a bearded, tattooed, Harley riding Bar/Ink shop owner. He's broken and very protective of those he cares about. I highly recommend this great listen!

The story drug a little in the middle, but loved the surprise part! The narrators are wonderful!

The end. I loved how they finally got their HEA. For these two it was so very much deserved.

This is a great book! The audio version made it possible to live the story all over again and get all the feels.

PHEW I'M EMOTIONALLY DRAINED.. BUT VERY VERY HAPPY

As I sit here looking at the blinking cursor I'm struggling to find just the right words to express how enthralling this book was.. or the words to say how much I thoroughly enjoyed it, was totally blown away by its emotional storyline and its awesome unforgettable characters whose tragedies, battles, heartaches and happiness have consumed me every chance I got.

Royal's character was dark, gritty, damaged and deep but he wasn't a lost cause because Avalon could see beyond the handsome face, the body full of tattoos and the distant exterior.. YES, she could see the broken man beneath and the anger and pain that he carried daily. And Avalon falls - falls hard for a man who's still grieving, still seeking revenge and still emotionally closed off to life.. but it's too late to turn away - and anyway that's the furthest thing from her mind. Avalon's going to hold on tight, ride the storm, uncover the truth, reel at a mind-blowing secret.. and bring love and light back into Royal's life. However, it won't be without heartache, it won't be without dramas, it won't be without Royal fighting it all the way and it won't be without its challenges.. but it will be worth it.

This was such an epic dual POV journey to witness as Royal battles the all too real demons and heartbreak of his past and wrestles with conflicted feelings about opening his heart up again to let love seep in. There's some very loveable and entertaining secondary characters as well as some shady and dislikeable ones too. This story has a dark side in the past which is visited occasionally in flashbacks but it also has light humorous and sexy times in the present too as well as some high octane dangers. Royal owns a rough Bar, is a hot sexy Alpha Tattooist, he drives a Truck and rides a Harley and Avalon is tough when she needs to be, feisty when she wants to be and very caring to all those she loves. And I sucked up every word, devoured every chapter, relished every scene and basked in the afterglow of their HEA's.

Worth a credit? Great story, compelling characters, well narrated and YES very very creditworthy. This is a new Author for me but I'm going to be avidly watching her every new book release and I've already preordered Walk Of Shame - no, it's not the 2nd in the series - that's Jax's story.. but I'm sure, like this one, it'll tick all my boxes just the same.

Royal is such a special book and one of the best books that you could ever want to listen to.

What does Samantha Cook and Lorenzo Matthews bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I thought they did a great job reading the book. It's a pretty intense book and they brought bits of humor when needed and really captured who Royal and Avalon are.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Hands down a book to be read or listened to in one sitting!

Royal Savage is by far one of my favorite books ever so to be able to listen to it blew my mind. It gave me a whole new experience of the book. I felt so much more attached and connected to the characters. Royal is damaged and deeply pained by the cards that were handed to him in life. He was broken until Avalon stumbled into his life and gave him hope and a sense of peace. She gave him a purpose and a reason to climb out of the darkness that he was drowning in. This is a story of loss, love and finding the meaning to free yourself and live again. This book will be sure to grab hold of your heart and squeeze every bit of emotion out of you. Two damaged souls become one in a epic story that will stay with you forever!.
