Publisher's Summary

When it comes down to acclaim in the yearbook, my class rank would probably earn me my only entry, but probably very little else. I don’t wear cosmetics, do my hair, or really give a damn about my appearance in general. I don’t need to be cool, and I’ve managed my high school career navigating all the different groups from the nerds to the jocks to the theatre kids and the band geeks.

Kicking off senior year, my only focus is to make every AP class count and keep my grades up. Shouldn’t be hard, particularly with my so-called untouchable status. Oh yeah, imagine that — I had a reputation. Hadn’t been a blip on my radar until the end of junior year when one of the girls’ dropped that little nugget on me. Apparently, the guys at school considered me the best girl to hang out with for fun or homework, but nothing else.

While I’m not looking for a date, it’s a little hard to swallow that I ranked as the best bud and tutor, but would definitely never fall into the Girl Most Likely To Get Asked Out.

Pfft. What did I care? One more year and I was off to college, so what if the numbers of female friends I used to have drifted off and I’d scored a permanent seat in the friend zone. I had subjects to study, grades to maintain, and colleges to get into. Fine, I didn’t care about the rules or status before, and I wouldn’t now.

181 class days to go, and I’ll graduate. No problem, right?

Please note this is a reverse harem and the author suggests you always listen to the forward in her books. Contains some bullying elements, mature situations, and is recommended for 17+. This is the first in a series and the story will continue through future books.

5⭐️ Book 📖

💐💐💐⭐️ ARC REVIEW- Rules and Roses by Heather Long ⭐️💐💐💐
Rules and Roses is the first book in the Untouchable Series. I love Rules and Roses. The name of the series comes from Bubba, Coop, Archer, and Jake declared that Frankie was untouchable but because They didn’t tell Frankie it caused misunderstandings and hurt feelings. Frankie found out the ending of Jr year from a girl who used to be friends with her when they were younger. The beginning of senior year when Frankie finally found someone who the guys didn’t know and he showed interest she kept it to herself. When the guys found out you they finally dealt with the misunderstandings and Frankie explained how she felt. Frankie just wanted to be like everyone else and date and experience her firsts that most other teens do in high school like attend school dances, go on dates, and maybe even get her first kiss. I will leave it there. If you want to find out what happened next and what the outcome was you will have to read the book. I don’t want to spoil the book for any future readers. Let’s just say that things turned around in a big way. I want to say more but I won’t. Rules and Roses 💐 is filled with lots of angst, drama, emotions, secrets, revelations, and lots of heat 🔥🌡. This is the first book I have read from Heather Long and I have to say that it will not be my last. I am so glad that the Untouchable series has so many books that are released and I can binge them before Book 9, Defiance and Dedication, comes out. Besides the bully romances Heather writes PNR, RH, and Military romances. All of which are my fave route tropes and if Rules and Roses 💐 is any indication I am really going to enjoy reading more of Heather’s books. Heather developed characters that were well rounded, with depth and characteristics that make them likable, easy to relate to, and empathize with. Heather created worlds for her characters that are fantastic backdrops to the story and enhances the characters and helps shape them. Heather is an author that I can see fast becoming a favorite. Highly recommend reading Rules and Roses 💐, Untouchable series, and Heather Long as an author. Enjoy your reading!!

Audibook
I listened to an audiobook version of Rules and Roses 🥀 and loved it. Audio books brings a new dimension that brings the story to life. I love one there is more than one narrator so that you can really get lost in the story. When narrators just changes their voice to a different pitch can work too having multiple narrators just really makes the best audiobooks to me. I think that narrators were perfect for Rules and Roses 🥀. I can’t decide if I liked reading the book or listening to the audiobook. I think both has both positive and negative sides to it. I really recommend doing both so that whether you read or listen you can have the best or both worlds. I love the hand off feature between Kindle and Audible is really convenient.

Loved it!

I really loved this book. It’s long which is wonderful. It builds the storyline and characters so well. It’s a bit of a slow build romance wise in the beginning... but that time is used wisely to really develop the characters and show their relationships.

I really didn’t have high hopes for this book before I started it. It seems like everything I listen to lately is just “meh”. This was great. So refreshing.

I’m excited to start the second book.

Loved It!

I loved this start to finish. The story was excellent, but the narration really brought it to life! I've been struggling to find audio books where the voices don't ruin the story, I love it when they use different people (sexes) for the different characters!

Loved this book from the beginning

This is my first book I’ve read by Heather Long and I absolutely loved it! I can’t wait to finish this series! The characters were great and the narrators did a fantastic job with this duet narration! So great!

potential

the storyline is really good however I'd prefer if all books work condensed into one.
the narrator's we're awesome, did a great job.
I wish I were patient enough to read the rest of the series but unfortunately they're just very long and takes long to get to the point.

Definitely Pulls You In!

This is first in the series so read this book first!

I'm new to Heather Long as a writer so I was not sure at all what to expect. She did not disappoint in the least! This novel was amazing! It is truly hard to give 5 main characters depth and personalities, but she did it with ease! I could tell by the dialogue who was speaking before the narrator even said the name. That takes epic level skills. I'm definitely hooked and on to the next book!

Amazing!!!

I already loved this book BUT this audio has blown me away! Both narrators are amazing!!! Grayson does a spectacular job at differentiating between the guys. It’s drool worthy! Marnye and Grayson have ruined me for other audiobooks.

Triggering to some-viewers be warned.

I was hesitant as the story progresses but it got worse. It wasn’t the writing but the story. There was child abandonment. Manipulation. Constant lies. And recurring emotional abuse. If you are okay with reading that and it doesn’t trigger you then it’s a good book. I finished the book to see if it was throughout or if the main character just had to deal with it in the beginning. It’s also not just from outside sources but within the group as well. Overall it is not a bad book but I wish There was a trigger warning about abuse within the group dynamic.

How could they keep that secret.

Frankie has four real good friends who happen to be boys she has know a very long time. It's senior year and she has the chance to date all of them. Coop, Ian, Archie, and Jake each has something special about them that Frankie loves. Frankie has a mother that seems like she does not want to be a mother at all she is selfish. And that cliffhanger says it all. Can't wait to listen to book 2.

Buy on AUDIBLE - Dual narration is AWESOME!

Bought on Audible, and the dual narration (man - Grayson Owens - does all the males voices and lady - Marnye Young - does all the female) was just AWESOME. I was totally hooked, and invested from half hour in, and happily ignored real life to carry on listening :)

I genuinely loved it so much I went and bought all the the rest of the series (well all on audible, two are yet to be audio books), and have spent this week listening through them all - who needs sleep!

I like the gentle growth of each character, the very realistic caution and confusion over their situation and relationship.

It is a hugely developed world and journey considering how very short the amount of time the book actually covers. I'm on book 7 right now and they are still in the current year at High School (only negative, the age... wish they were older!).

AMAZING

A duet narration! And so hot!! But that ending is insane! This book does end on a cliffhanger, and I am so annoyed because the next audiobook version isn’t out yet and doesn’t have a release date. However, having said that, this is still a book I would definitely recommend. I absolutely loved this as an audiobook and the style of narration they chose to present it as. In part of the book, they also make some sounds for a ringing phone and make the voice sound like it is on the phone which I loved as well. The romance definitely doesn’t finish with this book, but there is some held in this book. While listening to this book, there were definitely times where I wanted to slap some of the characters, and this will probably happen with you too because one of the many things Heather Long has been able to do in writing this book is share emotion and discovery through every new page that connects so well with the reader. If you have read the blurb and think this is a book you may enjoy, I would definitely recommend it to you. Enjoy!
