Publisher's Summary

From the star of Bravo’s hit reality show Below Deck comes Running Against the Tide, the “Stud of the Sea”'s first-ever memoir recounting his journey from landlocked Saginaw, Michigan to the high seas, where he has spent more than 25 years as a superyacht captain.

The cast members of Below Deck are known for their catfights, scheming, personal attacks, and long-held grudges, but what keeps viewers coming back week after week is resident hero Captain Lee, the only cast member to appear in all five seasons.

But you don’t have to be one of Below Deck’s 1.5 million weekly viewers to appreciate Captain Lee’s story, which offers a glimpse behind-the-scenes at the luxury yachting industry and one of Bravo’s biggest franchises. From having to reclaim his drunk captain's lost papers in the Dominican Republic to unwittingly crewing a drug boat out of Turks and Caicos to navigating the outrageous demands of the super-rich in New York City, Captain Lee's tales from the high seas run the gamut, proving time and time again why he’s a fan favorite: He’s occasionally profane, he’s often surprising, but he’s never dull and, for the first time, he’s here to tell all.

The story was decent but poor narration

The story was okay. Captain Lee's narration was dull and monotonous. I hoped for more.

Spot on in every aspect

Spot on, in every aspect of what takes place on a boat and what you responsibility is as a Captain. Your job is to make it work, make it safe and at the same time do this with the illusion of effortlessness. It is not like you're there to be someone's friend you have to run things efficiently have to be fair and you have to follow the rules because your reputation and license is on the as well as the life and safety of your passengers, if you're not doing your job right that you're dead wrong. It was both entertaining and tragic as I believe all Captains who care, have had the same experiences both good and bad again not every day is martinis and bikinis, you just got to pound it out to make it happen. Thanks I look forward to the next well written, well read and well worth the time to invested, thanks for doing a great job Captain Lee.

Regards

An inside perspective

You can expect the same whit and sharp comedy from the book as received from the show Below Deck!
It also brings in the humble honesty from Captain Lee. His gruff yet calm voice makes it feel like your sitting in front of him listening to his life’s story. Great Read!

Who doesn’t want to listen to Captain Lee?

Captain Lee will share his insightful, truthful, funny, and awkward tales from both land & sea with the listener. I appreciate his willingness to record an audiobook for us and I only wish it was twice as long!

Read it instead. For adults only.

Captain Lee knows how to tell a good story, but not if he's reading it aloud as a narrator. It'sOK if all you'retryingtodoisgo to sleep! I tried listening, but finally couldn't take it any longer. Neither could my friend.
Please, Capt. Lee, let someone else narrate for you!

Interesting stories from an interesting Captain

Loved the stories from Captain Lee, especially him telling them. The only thing that would make it better is if he didn’t whisper for some of the reading. ;) But I guess that’s just the Captain making sure we were listening. lol
