Racial issues

I did not appreciate the way the black people in the story were referred to as " negros . It also says that she was taught that black people could or would never be as smart as white people. Last but not least, it says, Jessie was disappointed when she saw that the black women were not dark skin with curly hair. The racial stereotypes are not acceptable or appropriate. They also were not appreciated - at all.

I have loved this book since I was a kid.

It was so good I couldn't stop listening. I first read it in middle school, and was so excited to hear it again.

Fascinating story

This was a rather fascinating story. The author crafted a very intriguing way to build the plot without boring the readers. Blending modern day influences with the early 19th century is most memorable. I am saddened by the tragedy of that experiment yet, I am glad to see that beyond the cunning beguile of many people, there is still good selfless people alive.

Love this book

Loved this book since first hearing it in 5th grade. It's not hard by any means but a worthy story to hear. It also makes me laugh because of inflation both in the story and on a meta level, haha.
