Publisher's Summary

Betrayed by his own kind, King Belial loses everything: His wife, his newborn, and his kingdom. When offered a chance at revenge by the mischievous twin Goddesses Enmu and Enma, he willingly takes it. The deal is simple, at least for them. Belial gets to be reincarnated into a vessel of their choosing and offered free reign on how to go about getting his revenge, however, there is a catch. The one thing the two want from him is simple: Take humanity down a notch. Or two.

This novel contains the following elements: Dark fantasy, reincarnation, crunchy LitRPG/GameLit, Town building, foul language, lots of visceral battles, both small and large scale, character progression, and more....

meh

The MC is always getting what he needs right when he needs it. The female voices hurt my brain.

Frustrating

A lot of potential, I was very interested in the description and beginning. Fell apart slowly as things went from novel to cringe-inducing.

So...

Let's start with the positives:
1. They pack a lot of story in, so unlike some books where it takes forever for things to happen, not true here.
2. I do still want to know what happens later.
But...
1. There is a disconnect in the story sometimes, like they left a sentence or two out, and then added it at the end of what happened. Don't want to get into specifics but you'll notice it as you go through the story.
2. There is so much of this that doesn't make sense, or is just plain not logical, from events to motivations, etc. Turned the positive of them packing a lot of story into the book (which is normally great) into me checking how much longer till the book was over.
So...while I do sort of want to know what happens next, that's not enough for me to get the next book.

horrible

the narrator's male voices and Stat descriptions were good he really needs someone else to do female voices because they were absolutely horrible and it wasn't helped by the authors pitiful dialogue for rust the combat was so badly written it was hard to follow this is one of the worst litrpg books I've listened to yet

save me during the flu!

I was not expecting this book to be very good, but i must say that i marathon-ed it straight through whilst home sick with the flu. It was a fun listen and i love MCs that i get to watch lose their humanity. I will defiantly be getting the next book in this series when it is available on Audible and i am currently looking through the other titles by this author. I was on edge most of this book waiting for it to devolve into borderline pornography, but it never did, it stuck to what it was doing and i loved it, sure there is lovey dovey stuff but even that didn't bug me. I'm still upset about the ogre though, i am hoping to see him again later on!

Not good at all.

This is a mess. The story clumsy and uninteresting. It was like listening to some excited thirteen year old kid describe a bad D&D campaign at a coffee shop.
Worse was how the narrator voiced the character 'Rust'. His 'girl' voice was so annoying I had to turn off the story after ~2 hours.
Im completely at a loss how this got 5 star reviews.

Mediocre is being kind

Narrated poorly is the best I can say but I don’t know if he had much to work with the story just doesn’t have the ability to keep my attention. Listening as I worked and didn’t care enough to pause or back up when my attention needed to be focused otherwise or load noises drowned it out. Came to the conclusion I can find something better about halfway through and gave up

It feels entirely forced

Nothing in the story feels organic everything that happens feels like a forced event that happens just for the sake of thing happening and very little things have any consequence The voice Performance was fine for male characters but the female characters were not great

Lots of action with good narration

Not the standard litrpg, "wakes up in the game" or "cannot log off", not that they are bad. A king dies and 2 deities give him a chance a revenge against those who murdered him, his wife and new born son. He is reborn in a different body with a slim chance at surviving.

I rate a book as good if I end up tired in the morning from listening to it past my bed time. This definitely made the list.

This is a good book that I enjoyed listening to and look forward to book 2.
